YALDA Bella ciao (Persian Version)
On 16 September 2022 Mahsa Amini was arrested by Iran's morality police and then killed in prison because they said she wasn't wearing her veil properly. Since that day, the protests have turned into a revolt against the regime of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Some women posted on social networks videos of themselves singing a Farsi version of "Bella Ciao", which is an anthem for freedom and partisan resistance.

It's easy to listen to a song and not appreciate its history. If you don't know what the words mean, you could mistake this one for a love song. Get the music right and you could dance to it. With this version though, there's no mistaking what it is. YALDA have really done a hauntingly beautiful job here! To the people of Iran, may your voices be heard, and may you finally win a government which serves you rather than its own interests. Best wishes from the US (we're not all the Great Satan here).

She was not killed. She died in police costody where she had a heart attack. Just watch the CCTV.

You are wrong! #MahsaAmini’s life was taken from her by the islamic republic government. At the initial point of her arrest by the IR morality police, #MahsaAmini was beaten; and she received concussion, which led to her loss of life. The CCTV only provides #MahsaAmini’s last few minutes of life post her arrest, in the building of the IR morality police. No alla dittatura! Donna Vita Libertà!
