I just relized the lips are completely in sync with their language, Which mean theyre animating their lips in japanese and english. That a lots of work

the Dragon Engine got a new tech where the AI is animating it, because in the English Actors Interview, they explained that they just need to speak the dialog and not worry about head movement or any body movement (like breathing, panting etc)...which means unlike previous Dub YAKUZA PS2, they don't have to watch the japan dub to time their pronunciations...

@@Subpar1O1 I think it has less to do with Hamill than it does the direction circumstances for the localization. There's tons of videos on it that can explain it better than I can, but it's pretty nutty.

@@harrisonriggs8732 definitely, the Yakuza 1 English Dub while funny is pretty bad. That's not to say the VAs are bad, look at Kiryu's VA in LaD. It's the same guy as the Y1. Problem was in the script, a lot of the actors are pretty good but got shit lines. Imo Hamil was a good fit but his voice doesn't really suit Majima as well Mercer though

Currently at 47 and still struggling to get Majima down before Saejima comes in and wreaks havoc. Also i have pretty mid armor on everyone but Ichiban. Love the difficulty spike here so I’m not mad at my failed attempts 😭

The big man Saejima finally has an English VA after all these years. Also it sucks Mark Hamill didn’t reprise his role as Majima.

Matt Mercer did a really good job, even down to the laugh. But playing a Ryu Ga Gotoku with dubbed after so many years where Japanese + Subs was the only option just feels wrong. I will never be able to organically enjoy his voicework in this game.

Imo, the dub isn't all that bad, but the sub is more iconic hence more superior

That's the video game localizing world, unfortunately. Anime went in a totally different direction and prioritizes faithfulness, but video games... Every studio you can turn to just likes to change things everywhere. Think you're safe playing this game in Japanese? Only if you know Japanese! Because the subtitles are different everywhere they can be, as well. Sometimes it's blatantly obvious even for somebody who doesn't know a lick of Japanese.
