I quit at 90% after 300 hours. Just got too mundane. Also a lot of stupid achievements. I started hard and had to spend 20 hours to the replay the game on normal or something just for an achievement. And a very difficult coliseum on hard.

Kiryu and Tanimura's main side things were actually combat related. It's so weird that Saejima, the man who practices by MINING in areas that Osha would shut down in a glance, doesn't have a direct fight related one, instead his is just kinda forced. Doesn't add up to me and I wish his coliseum was more story driven

@@user-ho7qh6df6n Idk hes kind of forgetful, the whole plot of Yakuza 3 was gonna be that Kiryu gets amnesia so I think they ported that idea to every game where you need to reobtain every ability

Being a Tanimura fan is both a massive blessing but also a curse.. Because Yakuza 4 will become one of- if not your Favourite game in the series, but future games will always leave you with an empty heart. (Especially 5..)

Your best work yet imo Really think you've managed to improve each installment of this series to the next. The pacing, structure, script and serenade to Tanimura were all exceptional. Keep up the great work Jahn, really looking forward to the next entry!

Here is a warning about Yakuza 5, for some reason you CAN'T go from premium adventure to new game plus, so make sure to complete everything in the finale (specially the coliseum, you dont want to play it on hard or legend) of the main game and then go for new game plus on legend for the achievement.

Hi Jahn. Love your videos man. Just a suggestion, for the next yakuza game, if it difficulty related trophy, couldn't you do a backup of the save file before the final boss, and just change difficulty before fighting the final boss?

Love these Yakuza videos, MatPat! Way better than your other channels. I never bothered with 100%'ing the achievements through Steam, let alone the in-game ones. It has been fun seeing someone go through all of this and being able to articulate their opinion on it. I'm glad you are enjoying this lovely franchise, even if it might drive you a little crazy. A fellow Tanimura fan… I feel your pain…

To me, 4's substories are still my favorite amongst the entire series (prior to Ichiban Saga at least), especially since most of them are connected in some way, that's my favorite part about them, AND there's JUST ENOUGH of them, so the quality is consistently nice, unlikey having a 100 of substories of varying and mostly lackluster quality like in 3 for example.

a lot of ppl think that tanimura “unalived” himself because in judgement they mention a cop who had yakuza ties that jumped off a building after being outed

Love yakuza 4, really fell in love with it. Anyway when I finished the game I ended up, for whatever reason, deciding, “oh, I’ll go buy a bunch of healing items for everyone” and I didn’t use any of them. But for whatever reason, I decided you know what, I probably don’t need healing items for tanimura since his combo finishers are really strong, I cant imagine his final boss being harder than say, Kiryu’s. I then proceeded to fight munakata with like 1 staminan x for I think an hour or two, the only times in the entire game I had died, btw, out of sheer stubbornness and even if I hated it at the time and have a permanent grudge against tanimura for this I can’t help but adore it in a weird way! The whole situation leading to that is just so fucking funny man. I felt like I was Sisyphus being punished for his hubris

This was also my first game (I think i got it for free on PS3?), and I also sat out the series for a while but i forgot which game brought me back. I think it was Judgement.

There is always a moment in every video that puts me in disbelief. Having to buy all the outfits in the hostess game BEFORE reaching level 1 is so awful

The Tanimura counter only gets the five second window after upgrading it lol it's actually quite trash before the upgrade as it needs a frame perfect timing

When you get to the Judgement, Yakuza Like a Dragon, Lost Judgement, Like a Dragon Gaiden, and Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, can you do two playthroughs, one with the English dub and when you do new game plus use the Japanese dub.

Once you do 5 i think you've hit the peak. Should get easier from there. Keep it up!

If I spent as many hours playing the actual games as I have spent just playing Koi-Koi, Mahjong, poker, and pool, I probably could have 100 percented the series a couple times over.

Almost halfway there! At this pace you should be able to 100% them all but it'll still be difficult. Yakuza 5's gonna take a huge chunk of time but atleast Gaidens short.

Fun fact! Saejima doesn't take part in any Karaoke in Yakuza 4, and his own stated reason is that it just isn't his thing. The truth is that his voice actor was self conscious about his voice and was too nervous to agree to singing

ah koi koi. i like koi koi. as a kid i had that ds clubhouse games which had it, and from back then and to now i have one golden rulel for koi koi the fancier the image, the more important the card. of course there are exceptions. like moon isnt fancy by itself but its the fanciest hill card and also one of the most important cards and the fucking sake cups (yellow flower card thats part of moon viewing hand) is like top important card as it enable s/ disables 2 5 point hands)
