@@kiryokazooma It's the ultimate counter for Kiryu, extremely reliable even against the toughest bosses if you could master the near-frame perfect timing. Right when someone attacks, for a few frames, you counter, Kiryu goes low and punches them in the solar plexus. Done under the right circumstances, it could destroy boss characters in a matter of seconds. Scary thing is, in some games, the Tiger Drop can be buffed even further, dropping bosses even quicker, or even one-shotting them. That's the Tiger Drop. Not joking, one of the best moves in the entire series. I have seen 1 or 2 but haven't seen more than that in order to go into the game without any spoilers because sometimes, trailers tell you a lot. And I'm doubting what you're saying but I guess I missed that one, but if true, Sega spoiling Kiryu is in Yakuza 7 is very very stupid by their part. In any case I guess it's still a spoiler, because I doubt they showed Kiryu as a boss or anything

Taiga drop

Saejima has the toughest introduction on the series. First you have to scape a prison with lots of armed guards, a sniper and three boss fights with very few healing items. Then when you think that hell is over you literally face next none other than Kiryu Kazuma with all of his abilities and with very few healing items if you didn’t already use everything on the prison break. Ex-hard will be quite an adventure

3 styles abilities in Zero/Kiwami 1 weren't even that great to be quite honest with the exception of Dragon of Dojima. Kiryu from Yakuza 3-5 would be enough since he's broken as fuck.

feyzal92 Zero’s Beast is actually broken, he kills any boss in seconds. I skipped 2 QTEs on Shibusawa’s fight with it. Kiwami’s broken style is Rush: Heat gain, hilarious speed, a bug which I called my secret technique. I’m not even talking about Kiwami’s tiger drop

He hasn't gave us any reason to believe he might be capable of beating him in either of their fights and in the first fight he even had help and thought kiryu was a bad guy after yasuko (no reason to hold back) . lol that's what I meant

yes, agreed. especially at this point of game saejimas level is still rather low and many skills arnt available. plus ppl who are new to his fighting style wont be used to the slow sluggish combos he has. sorry, saejimas skill arnt kiryus equal. also, the most scary yakuza fight I had besides amons and this is definitely the fight against komaki dad and son in yakuza 5 lol.

Fighting Kiryu really makes you realise how terrifying the Tiger Drop really is It obliterates about half your health bar and here’s absolutely no way you can avoid it since you don’t have time to block, you just have to pray that Kiryu doesn’t use it enough times to make you use up the very few healing items you managed to scrounge up from the prison since at this point Saejima still hasn’t had access to a store

You can avoid it by not attacking him from the front. He can't tiger drop grabs or attacks from behind.

Kiryuu only stopped being a yakuza once and for all, doesn't mean he stopped getting into fights. (yes I know ....spoiler, that he "died" in 6, but that's just a fake report made out of the deal with the government dude) The man in gray suit and red shirt still roams Kamurocho.....it's just that only a few people knew this fact. Date-san and Akiyama included. So Ichiban VS Kiryuu is still possible, but as an optional secret boss much like Amon and his bros. I want an achievement trophy for beating him, too.

First time you get to this fight its' like 'oh man, this is gonna hurt...' Yeah. If he gets into red heat and lands a Tiger Drop, you'll know about it. Probably the only boss fight in Yakuza 4 that took me more than one attempt to beat, ultimately, and even then it was close.

I hate it here 😭. I've lost count on how many times I've died on hard.

The player when you have to beat kiryu for the first time: ho hell yeah this is cool The players as soon as kiryu tiger drops: NO! YOU DARE TO USE OUR OWN MOVEMENTS AGAINST US?!! I WAS THERE WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEARNED THAT MOVE!!

This was the hardest fight for me in the game and the only one i actually got my ass beat on mostly because Kiryu kept spamming tiger drop. Even as a boss Kiryu remains almost unbeatable.

The only fight where I died to a boss in the yakuza series, even on hardest difficulties. When I saw him the first time I knew a tiger drop was gonna down my ass, and sure enough when I was low health he got one in.

I feel The Dragon and tiger mythology has been applied in many places. I just remembered The Ryu and Sagat rivalry from street fighter series is based on this mythology as well. Ryu being a dragon and sagat being a tiger.

One of three hyped fights in this game. Other two are Saejima-Majima and Kiryu- Tanimura/ Akiyama

This fight was so amazing that after I finally whittled down his health, I deliberately lost so I could battle the dragon once again. You just don’t get boss fights like that in other games.

It's so weird you have to fight Kiryu, like my reaction, i was so happy to finally see Kiryu again cause i was like: "Where the eff is Kiryu? o.e" and when you make it through Saejima's chapter and meet him and then you have to fight him as a boss and i was like: "Wait WHAT?!!! 0.0" xD

Ah. 4 & 5 will always have my favorite Kiryu moveset. Its nice to see what is imo the best version of the Dragon style in the series being used against you

As a side note, that's the same QTE from when Kiryu fights himself in the virtual reality machine in 3.

Yeah. And in mythology, the dragon (Kiryu) and the tiger (Saejima) are equally strong, therefore every fight between them cannonically ended as a draw.

I love this track. It really makes you feel the danger that Kiryu is. And also fighting with 2 equally skilled fighters.

WHEN I FIRST PLAYED THIS BOSS I WAS SO FUCKING AFRAID WHEN KIRYU REACHES HIS RED HEAT, THE TIGER DROP IS LITERALLY FUCKING TERRIFYING And dude excellent work on this boss fight, I think it actually showed your skills because holy shit when you were like at zero health you still came out on top.

Thing I always love about the videos like this by devilleon7 is, there's always tonnes of "EX-HARD NO HIT NO TIGER DROP NO BLAH" videos out there... which is cool, but takes the wind out of the experience of a fight like this. Given how it finishes at the end, I feel like you're meant to take a few hits in the fight, and these videos do that alright :)

When he got red heat and stomped me for 75% of my health, I realized just how much shit I was in. Then I just ran away and dash tackled him to death. First try.

So finally the Tiger and the dragon face each other again and again, no matter the life or either the time both are destined to face each other

I fought Kiryu on my playthrough of 4 back earlier this year, and while I was having an easy time with him he suddenly Tiger Dropped me while I screamed "AH SHIT HE CAN TIGER DROP ME-" My greatest weapon used against me.

Tiger versus a guy who Tiger Drops.

That music sync at the end was dope as fuck!

The tiger and dragon are equal in strenght, so this makes sense.

If you are having trouble with this fight, I would also reccomend hitting the air right before Kiryu reaches Saejima's range and follow up with two consecutivo charged attacks. Everyone's ojisan can not tiger drop those and you get massive poise so he can't interrupt them

Saejima weakness is his fighting style hit area alot of them are too linear, he needs double finishing blows skill more than kiryu and akiyama but his grapling attack pretty solid even for boss

Ya know, I had wondered what it'd be like to fight Kiryu (but as Majima because I've only played Kiwami and it was the Majima Everywhere System that made me think about this) and have him tiger drop you to half health or dislocate both your arms and throw you across the room. Well also in Yakuza 4 is a virtual reality machine that effectively lets the main characters fight each other. Kiryu's probably not fun to fight there either.

Legend says that the tiger it's the only animal that can be by the side of the dragon

The Mystic MacTAPPER Considering that Kiryu is the second boss of Saejima's story, fought right after the first chapter with no break between to stock up, alone makes him harder than Mine. Mine is fucking difficult, no doubt about it, but he's the final boss and you have plenty of time to prepare. Plus, he doesn't spam a move that takes, like, 1/6 of your health bar every time you so much as press an attack button.

Dat clutch tho! It really helped to sell the end of the QTE. The one thing that would've made it perfect is if you'd managed to sync those punches with the music like you did last time.

After playing the whole franchise I can say that Saejima is Kiryu’s equal.

That was a close call

Tell you what, as someone who played Yakuza 3 to full substory and ability completion with 2 NG plus playthroughs as well as reading on his feats in previous games and coming up against Kiryu as a character I still didn't fully understand the concept of, severely scared the shit out of me and to this day remains as the only fight I lost in the series -twice in fact- even in the newer series and dead souls.

This fight in easy mode is still somewhat challenging lol. Should’ve known better than thinking I was gonna rip through the main character like he’s nothing.
