Looks like drywall you can knock a hole in with your fist. Don't they have inflated protective pads of various shapes and sizes they drop over the side to protect against docks and other vessels.? In our own $7,000,000 Gulf Craft me and the Mrs. use them all the time.

A plank ?? In the UK we have a saying for people like this: As thick as two short planks :-) When you see the antics of crew on boats on the Miami river / Haulover inlet etc. it make you wonder if these people actually have any boating qualifications at all ?? Or is it a free for all...enough money to buy a boat but don't need a license/qualification ?

@will7its No, he said it's a charter yacht which basically means when the owner doesn't want to use it (if at all), the yacht and crew are chartered out for $130-140k a week. After this, my guess is the owner will be looking for a new captain; I sure as hell would be!

@@MikeK2100 Thanks for letting us know. 😀 Now cue the conspiracy theorists... depth chargers went off sending M/Y Double Trouble into a bridge, exactly like what happened with Dali a little over a week ago. As Double Trouble hit the bridge several more explosions went off at several different points of the bridge. You can see from the footage how the explosions cut through the hull of the 96 metre long super yacht. Double Trouble being an Israeli owned vessel, funded by the US government, and likely having many Epstein like pedophiles on board, were protected by the police, who then proceeded to chase after everyone who had a camera nearby. The drone operator was shot in the crown jewels after he tried to flee the scene...if you were the drone operator and in hospital, and you have survived subsequent murder attempts, please get in touch. We'd like to hear from you.

Surely a charter boat that size comes with a captain and crew. Getting side on to that current while so close to the bridge was always going to end in tears. Why didn't he reverse well away from the bridge be trying to turn? I'm guessing the boat will have a new captain when the repairs are done.

  • @skunkjobb

I have never tried to reverse against such a strong current but it looked like they could handle the reversing part good. Then I have the same question as you. With the motor power they have, they could easily have made the turn if they only reversed a little further and then didn't hesitate making the turn.

That area is called Haulover and there are plenty of videos out there of people going in and out and all the craziness associated with it. To say you are taking a risk is quite the understatement. I would think that any vessel with more than just 2 decks would avoid going through there. Just not worth it. And as can be seen from the coverage, people are not courteous with each other either. It is truly eat or be eaten. And Double Trouble got eaten on this. 😞 Thank you for the coverage and a return to yacht news!

If you never helmed (drive) a boat you will not understand this, but as soon as you stop making way into the current, it will grab and put you to the beam, even with a small boat (much worse on a yacht of this size). The video does not do it justice, but as he only stops going backwards a second possibly two (possibly delay from the engine controls to change shift from forward to reverse), the current grabs him with impressive force and turns him around in like three four seconds. Could have he done something to save it, yes but accidents do happen for a reason. Thar second or two delay, whether it was in thinking it over or delay from throttle response screws him. As soon as the current grabs him, his faith is done, like a car which lost traction in a curve and ends in a wall. Yes the bow thruster with that current will never do it all IMO...

eSysman Super Yatchs, I have extensive training in marine operations, and l ived 20 years in Miami in the area of Bay Harbour Islands, I am certain the spot where this incident happened is the Haulover Beach Bridge, which is located next to my old neighborhood, and which in time is one of the entrances to the Miami Beach Waterways and the Bay of Biscayne. what an accident, it is just that there wasn`t enough clearance from those post fenders, so if you are at the helm and are not sure there is enough room for the boat to pass clear from the fenders, then you rather dont take any risk, and stop engine and think about the possibility of going trough the passage assisted by a small tug or a tow or some other smaller boat, amazing catch by a drone and someone else camera, I hope everything is alright for them by now. bst rgs

imho, the captain backed off and was using the rudder to slide the boat across to the left to give himself room for the turn. The rudder just makes the stern go side to side in a backcurrent while the bow weathervanes downstream. He misjudged and let it drift too far while doing that. You can't turn across a current unless you're moving forwards, and that takes you downstream twice as fast. He should have crabbed across with some throttle on in reverse so the boat wouldn't drift downstream. He backed off far enough.

The vertical support of the bridge is called a 'pier', not a pillar. The structure in the water in the front of the pier is called a 'fender'. Fenders are there to tell vessels which span of the bridge to cross under, to provide protection to the piers against vessel collision, and, ideally, to prevent damage to the vessel if it becomes errant (hence many fenders incorporating softer rubber elements, as are found where ships dock).

You sure about that? "A pier is a raised structure that rises above a body of water and usually juts out from its shore, typically supported by piles or pillars, and provides above-water access to offshore areas."

@@eSysmanSuperYachts Yes, I’m sure. Both of those things are called piers. Bridge engineers never refer to them as pillars, and they’re not called ‘pylons’ unless they’re supporting a cable-stayed or suspension bridge.

@@eSysmanSuperYachts A 'pier' refers is BOTH of those things. A waterfront structure, as well as the vertical support structure for a bridge superstructure. Nowhere in the bridge engineering literature is that vertical support structure for a bridge superstructure referred to as a 'pillar'.

So a yacht named _Double_ Trouble hit the bridge twice. They seemed to have propulsion and be able to control the boat when under power, so perhaps it was a failed attempt to comply with the "idle power, no wake" restriction posted on the bridge?

Enjoyed this varied video E-Man...Bad day for Double Trouble but, even tho I am no certified Pilot, it seems like ANOTHER example of captains not paying attention to weather, tides, etc. Just because it is sunny, it does not always mean that is an easy day for sailing. I really like the looks of Ultra G...very F-1esque. ~~~masthead implants....😂😂😂😂😂

That looked like some real rookie level boat handling, not something I'd expect from a skipper on that size of yacht. No passage planning for the bridge height, and seemingly oblivious to the hazard of the current that he'd already been dealing with after the first aborted attempt at the bridge.
