Y-Strap, Hammer & Chisel, Lumbar Decompression Full Body Adjustment
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This patient was born with rickets a vitamin D deficiency that causes weak bones. He has undergone multiple surgeries since birth on his knees, and recently on his hip. He has been unable to walk normally and came to me with severe back and hip pain. When we checked his weight balance, he was carrying 30 pounds more on his right side, primarily due to a short leg. I inserted a half inch heel lift and we started adjusting him with the Ystrap, hammer and chisel and lumbar decompression and he has responded wonderfully and is able to get around again with less pain. #YStrap #JosephCipriano #YStrapdoc #BeauHightower.

Yes, he had rickets so his bones are less dense and I had to adjust the force to the patients condition.

Yes I agree. Because of his inability to walk, it makes it difficult to exercise and diet alone isn't always enough to lose weight.

@jackowens8322, if your intent is to motivate someone to lose weight, then your tone of voice and choice of phrasing will not do it. I can almost 100% guarantee it. If you want this patient to feel like crap and like he is worthless because he is overweight, you will accomplish it with your suggestion. The good doctor is between a rock and a hard place. As he noted, he would like to see him lose weight for the sake of his health. Weight is such a hot button issue that if he says almost anything, he risks the patient giving up completely only to never seek the medical help he needs. By saying nothing, he risks the patient not doing anything to help himself as well. The doc’s best hope is to not say anything at least for a while, keep adjusting the patient, and just maybe he will get enough mobility back that he will be motivated to continue improving his health. Every overweight person feels like they are seen by physicians, whether medical or otherwise, as a weight number and not as someone who deserves to be treated as a human being. This doctor is treating his patient as someone who deserves not to be abandoned because of his weight, and that is the best way to help him see he deserves to work toward an optimal weight.

@@ms.booklover2676 Very well said. Thank you for your compassion, comments and for watching!
Hey Dr Paul! Great to have you back! Do you ever tell your patients to loose weight to reduce stress or tension on the joints?
@DrPaulMonitto
3 ай бұрын
Thank you and thanks for watching and commenting. Yes I do tell patients to lose weight. In this particular case, he is unable to exercise much less walk so it's difficult to lose weight when you are inactive.
Did you make adjustments to his diet to address the vitamin D deficiency?
@DrPaulMonitto
2 ай бұрын
Yes we did. His rickets occurred mostly when he was a young child but now that they know the cause, his vitamin D levels are back up within normal limits. He no longer has rickets, but you can see it affected his growth. Thank you for watching and for commenting.👍👍
