Meriwoch Thank you. For holding this summit. I feel it is the right time to know more about how Capital Market operates in Ethiopia to find out the pros and cons. And it gives as informative knowledge to make ourself ready for the bigger market.

Thanks to Meri because you are doing the national one.

The good thing about this topic is its controversy. The optimist boldly lend whatever amount money for convincing project. The pessimist covetously are not accepting any project except having concrete collateral for their lending. As long as they have a good insurance system and a good credit system in the country, to have an optimistic side will help both parties (i.e., the lender and the borrower). The worst part is when the bank managers avoid to accept profitable project and they start doing it with false ethnic based evidences. This program was supposed to expose the tit for tat approaches that bank managers play with the borrowers. For example, they lend if and only if the borrower tip the 20% of the total amount that they lend. I am not sure if it is really a tip thou.

Regardless, work with us offline so that by the time we introduce the additional directives, they won't constrain you. As usual, Ermias offered an insightful suggestion. To overcome the lack of strong institutional investors, we should encourage Funds. The question then is, do we have the guidelines to form and run Funds?
