PSA FOR ANYONE WANTING THIS PRINTER. I currently own two of these and they really only have 2 main issues that can be easily fixed. 1. "I can't use third-party filament" So, you actually can use third party printers as long as you use a NFC NTAG(213) This printer operates by reading a source code that is inside of the spools holder, it's basically a simple chip that says the printer will only allow you to print till the spool is empty, so you can actually keep the spool holder on and use another filament of your choice as these spoils technically have a mileage to them i.e. 200 - 300 m per spool permitted. By using an NFC NTAG (paper data chips) you can very easily code these to have 300 m and then when the "mileage" is up, you can simply reset the chip. 2. The XYZ app will not allow you to use this method and will detect it as a bypass. So, to bypass the bypass ironically..just don't use the default app the printer says to get. Instead use free softwares like "3D print" and "3D builder" both of which are Windows 10 softwares that are compatible with most printers including this one. If anyone has questions about this printer I can try and answer them here. Hope this helps!

I've recently got one myself and I'm very content with the quality. To prevent the product to detach from the printbed I use pritt glue. Just rub it over the printbed and use the spatulla to see if you mist a spot and smear it out right before calibration and printing . No more lose products

Think I'd recommend an Ender 3 over this for a cheap / ''Budget'' Printer. The amount of compromises made with the Mini Da Vinci is understandable riiiight up to the part of not allowing for other filament brands to work with it, like one of those junker coffee makers that demands you only use its own brand with its machine with a barcode reader, Nope.avi The Ender 3 also has a rather sizable community so you'll have plenty of support out there to optimize it.

I have been using it for 5 years. its a freaking good printer especially for its price. When this printer came out the major complain was the filament restriction. It can be bypassed nowadays with a nfc sticker and a android app (called 'reeltool21'), no big deal! If you can find this printer second hand, buy it! i am buying another one tomorrow for only €40

I have it for 3 weeks and find it is not as user friendly as advertised. Expect to waste a lot of the expensive filament. Items with solid base and not so intricate parts do fine if glue is applied to platform. Others require supports. Glue is key. Be sure it doesn't dry before starting print. Interesting concept, but I just am not feeling it is something I could recommend. Already had a filament break and a filament jam.. software is pretty simple to use.

I've had this printer for a couple of months now, and the problem you say when prints don't stick to the surface is easily solved with just going over the surface with a glue stick. I've never had a problem, my prints can instead sometimes be hard to remove when finished!

Use a glue stick on the bed tape and you won't have a problem with your print job.

If you use a glue stick, the project will stick to the bed, and it will come off easily. This is what I do

@@corinaskywalker1) make sure to lower the extruder where you will get the best print (you can do this by printing the sample or a small cube, to where it sticks on for a bit) 2) use a small amount of a glue stick where the print will be

Will search it... thanks! a couple of you here mention that one, very good share, if/when I were to buy one, they are super cool, I'll do research on all things mentioned here, I'll pay more, but the freedom to choose filament, software etc... matters big time! Thank you all.

This is good only for hobbyist. For commercial purposes you need to use a CNC machine.

Generally, 3D printing is for hobbyists. It is viable for commercial prototyping, and I know Prusa is using their printers to make more printers.

I'm sorry but 4 hours for that tiny batman bust at 0.4 mm layer height is not acceptable by any means. You will almost never be printing at 0.4 mm unless you just need a quick and dirty part for something. A print like that should take around 2 hours. Not double. Add that to the fact that there is no heated bed and major adhesion problems, as well as absolutely everything being locked down to their own (and may I say horrible) software. The software they call a slicer has nowhere near enough flexibility to get any real prints once you get into models that are even remotely complicated. This printer is not worth $300 in any way.

DO NOT buy this in 2020, now that 3d printing is more accessible than ever, there are such 3d printers like the anycubic i3 mega and the ender 3 that are loads better than this printer at the same price
