XXL HISTORIC SWELL SANTA CRUZ, CA | December 28, 2023
A mixture of drone and camera footage I took from last weeks storm & swell. The aerial shots show the power of Thursdays mega swell as it slams into West Cliff Drive. Clips of surfers chasing these monster waves included as well.

Dang! Can’t tell ya how much I miss Santa Cruz plus the whole area. Super video, Ty so much. Shows many places I’ve been so many memories. 28+ yrs. Appreciate your efforts My Dude! 👍💪🏻New Subber here 🤩😁
God it's been 20 years since I've been to SC. So many wonderful memories as a child and young adult there on my weekend jaunts. SC and SF were my favorite places to go as a family.
Chill video!

Awesome video - thanks for taking the time and effort to produce this, and to post it for the rest of us to enjoy. Haven't been in Santa Cruz in many years, but used to live just up the coast a bit back in the '60s, and miss the California coast terribly. Gotta be really good - or downright crazy - to be out surfing in these conditions, at this time of year. Since we haven't heard news reports of anyone drowning, they must have been really good! 😀

Yes of course! Im glad your enjoyed! Yes the guys out there definitely knew what they were doing !
ahh that feeling when you run the town all the way to your downtown weed shop :)
A - Even on gloomy days the ocean is mesmerizing. B - Not to be a bummer but this is nature's kind warning to homes on water's edge.

Cool watching this. I was just at the boardwalk and the pier the other day. Vacation took me out there to see a buddy in Morgan Hill. Gorgeous area out there
Yup, good stuff. Huntington Beach is in my rear view but looking forward to going back to that So Cal vibe. Thank you.
I absolutely love the music you used, please would you share the artist? Thank you. Also, thank you for this incredible post. Water has power like no other.

bucket list item for me is learning to surf - living in the midwest and not traveling much isn't helpful. Only time I finally got to go to CA was at Oceanside in 2010 and the weather went from great (surf contest going on) to conditions near what is in this video just in the time it took to get checked in and hit a surf shop for rental gear and get back to the beach. I went for it anyway even though I was the only fool getting in the water. No surfing happened - couldn't even get past the breakers. Wised up and have been in FL a couple times since to go with a shop/lessons but weather killed those too and shops couldn't do lessons 😞 One of these days...

Thanks! My issue seems to be the 2000+ miles to Pacific and 800+ to Atlantic. We have lakes and I used to water ski every day weather permitting and still mountain bike/road bike/bmx/etc... in the thousands of miles per season - just have not been able to hit the coast when the weather cooperates. One of these days@@brianl8752
I kid a saved a kid in those rocks April 1962 Name is William Clarke/: Legendary Southwest swell. Santa Cruz owes me a million bucks
We had it pretty big down in Ventura Co. too. It was splashing up on PCH by Pt. Dume. Thornhill campground got flooded. I saw a dad letting his 5yr old daughter frolic in the pounding run-ups at Sycamore Cove. One of those up to her knees and she was out to sea, so I had to run over and tell him, very politely, what an absolute fucking idiot he was. They left. Girl survived the day.

how horrible! Some people really know nothing about the ocean- its so important to be aware and informed.
Thought there would be some surfers out. Well more then one.
I’m Diggin the Singer in the Music that was playing….I used to live in Felton & Bonney Doon ! I grew up in San Francisco & used to ride my bike to Santa Cruz with a friend ,also went to Laguna Seca a few times , I finally Moved outta California, got Sick of the BS,…this Vid sure brought back some good memories tho

And this is why homes are so expensive on water’s edge, only rich people can afford to lose a house and buy another one elsewhere.

It is the homeowners insurance that covers the loss. The only thing rich people lose if the house gets destroyed, is time finding another place to live.

Funny that they would leave a rather expensive piece of machinery just sitting there in the splash and potentially crash zone…..mmmm, insurance play?

Good to hear, what was odd about it is that we all knew the big swell was coming for what, 5 days or so? Was a great video by the way!
@user-ke9yk5qp3u

No, just typical out-of-town contractors that park their equipment for five days and then come back and work for two days.
Great video, but I'd much prefer to hear the ocean than that music. Music was good, but I miss Santa Cruz and the coast so much I'd prefer to hear the waves. ❤

hi there! drones actually don't record sound so I had no choice but to add music over so it wasn't silent!
I suppose you could blame God ,but he don’t care
Video would have been a thousand times better without the music, let the ocean be the soundtrack.

You obviously don’t know that drones don’t record sound… not going to have silence the entire video lol
That neighborhood is absolutely doomed. Only a matter of time before nature wins
