Very cool. I pieced together an ebay Optitrack system a while ago and got an insane deal on the software from a really nice sales rep. problem is I still haven't set it up! But I plan to install it in my garage.

I don't mind the steep upfront cost of xsens equipment but their relatively and similarly steep annual licensing is where commitment is hard.

Xsens's subscription pricing is so evil! I think they should at least offer the option to export the motion shown in the viewport without HD processing for free. And they need to get rid of those horrible time limits.

Depends on each situation but you always need to clean up if just a little bit. I mean essentially even 50K mocap systems require a little bit of clean up. But of course it is still high quality data.

we have a awinda starter suit and all of the captures we do are like 95% ready to go after the HD process, xsen's HD processing is some magic as it does most of the work for us. the only thing we do afterwards is maybe our characters need their shoulders adjusted, very minor stuff that only takes a few minutes of work and its done. one of our last captures was i was laying on the floor and getting up to a stand position, in the raw data i was lightly moving around and gliding on the floor while laying there, the HD processing completely got rid of it on its own. its a god send compared to our other suit, the rokoko pro 1. the Rokoko was a nightmare to deal with, the suit basically never worked for us, calibrating the suit 80% of the time didn't work, and when it did, it gave some truly bad mocap data, the raw data required hours of cleaning up afterwards, and the end result didn't even look good. so yeah xsens even on their cheapest suit requires very little clean up in our experience.

Xsens should adress the monthly software use first and foremost. A lot more people would buy it if the software cost like 40--50 bucks a month.

A lot of people - including me would really like that. Their business models are geared toward studios who will pay annually. When you make enterprise level stuff, your customers start having things like "R&D budgets"

@@WoodyDevs Awesome. I just find a lot of youtubers that use Xsense do not talk about how limiting the subscription model is, and how expensive and unfair it is to have to pay 250$ per month to export an .fbx. I wish influencers would spread the word in an attempt to sensibilize Movella about this issue.

@@matteo.grossi Spending anything more than 50 bucks a month (for an indie production) is unreasonable for a software fee. If a person commits to buying a 6K-10K suit... the software fee should be at most 50 bucks/euros a month.

@@WoodyDevsI have an Awinda. Been using it for over a year now. The only software you would really use is Animate Pro, (since Record doesn't let you export, so what's the point in that?). Owning Pro used to cost around $22k or was it $24k? Then Pathfinder Acquisition made some kind of business combination with Movella and, in 2023, all their prices went up 10%. So yead, it's not $30k, it's more like $26-27k.
