That tool-less m.2 retainer is handy, but ya know ya may not get the full speed outta that drive installed there.. Commonly, the 1st m.2 mount shares access to the full PCI-e 16X lane , but the rest are often on the 8X or 4X architecture. Giving it a closer look, & that's a MSI Z690 Force board right. I had to look up the manual online, but you do know it has mounts for 5 m.2 drives, right? The 1st m.2 mount is under the single width heat-spreader plate above the 1st PCI-e slot. Soooo you actually installed that drive in the 3rd m.2 slot.

I bought an SK Hynix nvme drive not knowing about the generational issue. It's blazing fast, faster than yours actually, and was super cheap as SK Hynix is a manufacturer of chips, the problem came because my motherboard doesn't recognize gen 4 PCIE NVME, so I had to buy an enclosure for it and use it over USB, but I don't have USB C ports on this PC, so it's bottle necked down to USB A 3.1ss speed.

  • @Oleksey1769

I know this isn't what you asked for but just build your own. Its not that hard and you save quite a bit while being able to get whatever components you want. If you don't know what to buy just asked around on sites like Reddit. Btw if you do end up doing this I'd recommend 12th gen intel (12400f) as it's quite cheap and can use ddr4 while still having an upgrade path.

Ok um, first of all, love the idea of seperate heat sink on nvme, works great if it doesn't fit under the motherboard heat sink, but if it does fit under the motherboard heatsinks why even fucking bother having it seperate?. Second, are you sure that third slot is gen 4 not gen 3? A lot of boards have gen 3 on the third slot, and i cant necessarily tell which board you have.
