I could not agree more with this review! I’ve been using the Garrett carrot for over a year and recently lost it at the beach. Bought the Mi4, after hearing good reviews, but struggled huge in the field with locating objects in the hole. Returned it today and reordered another Garrett:)

Yeah I keep it as a back up, the rechargeable battery is the best feature in my opinion. The garrett is also the one for me. :-)

Not sure I'd want to use ferrous discrimination on a pinpointer... by the time you use the pinpointer, your big metal detector has already identified a target and you're digging it. If my big detector falsed on a piece of iron and showed it as a high conductor, I want to know asap. If it discriminated iron out you wouldn't know if it was non-ferrous copper/silver that was too deep for the pinpointer, or an iron target in the plug. You could end up digging a hole half way to china when the item your big detector picked up was a small nail 2 inches down 😂

Think is the one I'll go for. Like the color and the sound settings I'm in favor for. Not one for something that rapidly beeps like crazy when your 4 inches away from it making you wonder is it here or there, here or there.

On my pinpointer in the off position the LED flashes. Is that a low battery warning or a glitch, and how do I get rid of it?

I don't think you can get rid of it, when I first got mine I noticed it did it even when switched off. I wonder if its a way to slowly discharge the battery of a few months to keep it it I tip top condition 🤔

Hi! Hows the length does it detect? Like does it only detect items that are a couple of centimetres away from it or inches away?

It will pick up small objects a inch or 2 away I thing the garrett is a little more sensitive but the bonus of this is it is rechargeable:-)

Yeah all the time really, even if I switch it on when the tip is stuck in the soil to sort of ground balance it but still dodgy unfortunately they are one of the better pinpointers on the market :-)

I have an mi6 they are good pointers but sometimes it doesn’t connect first time to the headphones and the rubber is lifting on the corners same as a mates is doing too

After having my MI4 for over 2 years I'm still only using it as a back up to my garrett 🙃 I do love that it rechargeable but I feel like it's not as sensitive as the carrot 🙃

@@TheMetalDetectingChannel I’m not sure about the mi4 but the mi6 when switched on brings a menu up on the remote and you can adjust the sensitivity to a ridiculous amount it also puts the coil into standby and links the audio directly to the headphones

Is the light supposed to keep flashing every 4 seconds while OFF? Will this ever stop?

Yes the light does flicker while its off, I did think that was strange but I contacted the store where I bought it and the contacted XP and they said it was perfectly normal. Mine is not flashing at the moment so it must stop at some point :-)

Mines been flashing for 8 hours now.. I think that's odd, you'd think it would completely shut off after a little while

Works really good! Not as sensitive as the Garrett but still works well.

I just got one and think it is crap! :( There are NO volumecontrol! and the system about holding in 3 seconds or 5 seconds are not working very well, you kind don't know where you are.

To be honest after a good year of using it and my garrett I find that the xp is not sensitive enough and falses a bit but saying that I'm faling out with the Garrett as I have now had 2 of these and they seem to false a lot after about 6 month of use. Maybe I should.re review them 🤔
