XP Deus 2: Is the 11x13” coil worth the $399 investment?

Комедия

XP Deus 2 metal detectors are amazing. But if you go with the 9-inch coil, should you add the elliptical 11 x 13 inch coil? The 9” is 225 grams lighter than the larger elliptical. Weight vs depth. And a $399 investment. A tough decision. I wrestled with it…then took the plunge. Here’s my feedback and recommendation after three solid days in the fields with the 11x13 large coil….

Thanks for the video! I had an 11x13” coil with the Deus I, but went with the 9” coil on the Deus II. The simultaneous multi-frequency is the gamechanger for me. So far, I don’t feel a need to get a second larger coil. But that may also be personal preference. Good fortune detecting and digging!

Bigger coil = deeper targets. weight will fatigue your arm faster. Use WS6 to compensate. Good Hunting 👍

The 11" and the 13" seem to have the same depth. Maybe 1/2" more. Definitely more coverage. I personally would not buy the large coil. My goto coil is the 9". It just performs in all conditions so well. The 11" does well to, but need to put more time on it. I had the 13 x 11 x35 coil when I ran the XPD1, did not like it's weight/balance. Nice vid!

Thanks for the feedback. I like the 9" too, especially on trashy fields. The thing I like most about the 11x13" is it just makes every field feel new again. And I definitely have found some deeper objects already I know I would not have gotten with the 9" coil.

Thanks for the comment @metaldetectingwithczkidd. The more I use the 11x13, the more I realize it is very different from my 9”. I love the 9” and will continue to use it as well, but I am really working at getting to understand the dynamics of the 11x13. Looking forward to using it on the beach although I suspect the weight will become more of an issue on those long summer days.

I am a new D2 owner and bought the 9 inch and on the beach it just seems really small and I find myself wanting to cover more ground. So am waiting for the 11 by 13 to arrive in the mail and really looking forward hitting the beach and seeing the difference in coverage and depth of targets. I am interested in your thoughts on settings and programs you find useful when out searching. Mike in sunny Florida

I just got mine in the mail today. Time will tell but I'm hoping to get on to a few more deep Civil War relics in some hard hit spots. Thank you for your time and thoughts. Happy hunting gent's.
