I admire Xinyu Wang's spirit. Bageled in the 1st set and down 0-1 15-40 in the 2nd, she fights back to take a lead in the 2nd set, before eventually losing it.

She is so fast. That is her real weapon. I will say she has clearly been improving her technique. She is becoming a wall that occasionally hits back. Interesting trajectory.

It's really nice to see two young players doing so well... Please, keep it up girls!!!!

Getting to a GF final has given Gauff an extra sense of belief. Will do well at Wimbledon.

I love the scorelines I’m seeing from Coco’s matches. I still want her to get more free points with the serve but I love how she’s going after the forehand. She looks very calm and determined in the two matches at this tournament.

Why do the commentators always refer to Coco Gauf by name and call Xin Yu Wang, the Chinese? She has a name too you know.

That is some old school commenting -- this is not the Olympics -- these are individuals don't need to make it Chinese vs American. Referring to player as Chinese over and over again is just plainly rude.

@@jackburgess274 i think odds put Coco that high because of Roland Garros finals in singles and doubles and she also plays solidly in grass, as you can see. Imo deserved 2nd place in odds, although i find Ons and Simona as bigger favourites (i said the same and before Roland Garros, but grass isn't clay so i will give them chance again 😃). But some of the odds results are really absurdic - Naomi who never passed R3 in Wimbledon and currently isn't in her best form is 4th, Serena who didn't play since past year (and maybe is that high only because of her achievements in the past) is 5th and Emma, who is serious flop after US Open is 8th?!

The QF she has reached as a result of this victory is her first ever QF in _any_ tournament on grass! (The other odds you point out are indeed absurd.)

Coco is a sprinter that gets pretty much everything back. Once she adds some real sting to her groundstrokes, then she can challenge Iga. The women's game needs some variety to bring fans back.

And it seems to me that they silently admire Iga and envy her and the team that supports her and the work she has done over the last 6 years. 6 years is a lot and in this state no opponent is able to match her at the moment. To be honest, Iga is not better than them technically, but she can approach mentally and tactically and this is the "great mystery of faith" that others want to steal from her. This is the best for ladies tennis that could have happened to them on the threshold of the third decade of the 21st century.

I don't see Coco with any real weapon. Her backhand, her forehand are good but not what I would call a weapon. I think it's her speed and ability to retrieve and keep the ball in play in extended rallies that are really giving her a fighting chance. She's getting better and I'm looking forward to a Iga/Coco match.
