Ойын-сауық

An overview and setup of the Xicoy CG Balancer. Along with balancing the Avanti s with different manufacturer batteries and capacity.
manual 105mm-110mm
mine currently sits at 108mm but can go back to 115mm and flys flat inverted, BUT front wheel is light and bouncy.

    Dude... Don't the CG change when the battery is low? Loooooooool Just kidding. I have the exact EDF and Xicoy. Great tool. Used it on my 60cc as well and the CG was spot on. Thanks for the best explanation of how to use this must have device. Nothing is expensive if it does what you need it to do!! Quality and simplicity matter.

    Great video John, great explanation and walkthrough on this product. I can see the benifit of something like this especially on a much larger model or turbine setup. Xicoy puts out a quality product. Appreciate you putting this out!

    Have to say awesome video....using your measuring method will be so much easier. I have the scales but was doing the measurements in a way that was really difficult. Also Xicoy is out of Spain not Germany. Great videos keep it up.

    Noonz - Great video for the Xicoy. I have been using one on all my planes and never had a problem on maiden flights, they work great. I also have the throw sensors which I do not use. They are OK but have no good means to attach them and keep them attached while measuring. They say to tape them down but I found they still move and when you pull of the tape, paint comes off foam models. I tried the low tack tape but the tape will not hold the sensors tight enough for no movement. Balancer is worth the money, throw sensors not so much in my opinion.

    "Blue tape" its pike a putty. Only need a little bit. Its somewhat tacky and holds em in place. What i use. I got the idea from rc forums

    Yeah it's a great tool. Been using mine since last year and wouldn't go back to a manual CG method. The only issue is some EDF's don't document their CG from the leading edge like the Avanti and you have to plumb bob from the bottom of the plane. I have only had to do this once so far and it was a PIA but my other planes were straightforward. I also kinda wish Xicoy would change the titles of the main screen where you enter data to something more descriptive. It's so confusing it seems like I had to relearn how to use it every time I set it up. I eventually made a little cheat sheet so I can wrap my head around what the inputs are.

    Yeah totally agree! You sometimes have to get creative to do CG on some planes lol funny i had to make a cheat sheet to, since i can go a while not using it. 👍

    I do have the FW Avanti S so I thought this would be interesting but I have a couple of (hopefully) constructive critiques. I couldn't get much out of the video because several things were too ambiguous, at least to me. I couldn't tell where you were pointing to most of the time. For instance when you talked about measuring the distance from the main to the nose gear, were you talking about the angular distance from the main to the nose gear, or were you talking about the right angle displacement (how far back from the nose to the main?) It would have helped if you had actually shown what you meant and did the measurement. Would have cleared up any misunderstanding. Then when going from the wing to the gear, you said "I put the square right here". Right where, exactly? You can't tell from the video what you were pointing at. Were you at the wing root, right up along the fuselage? I couldn't tell and you stressed that millimeters were important so it would have cleared up a lot of things if you could have shown EXACTLY what you were doing. I gave up watching at about the halfway point. It's too expensive for me anyway. I only fly EDF's so I'll never buy the Xicoy and besides, the Avanti doesn't have one CG point anyway. It's a range of about a centimeter like every other EDF I have. So I'll just keep balancing on my fingers. But I can definitely see the benefit for larger planes, especially if you spend several thousand on a turbine or other giant scale.

    I kinda see what your doing but I’m getting loss with the CG part, I’m going half a inch pass my wing tube So when I measure that distance I’m getting 27.5 mm I’m lost after that

    Seems tedious to use, if you mess up or it is malfunctioning you'll find out in the air. No thank you, it only takes a minute to physically balance a plane. I could show how to balance a plane the traditional way in a 3 minute video and it would be foolproof. This is the way CG is set on full size planes and is simply overkill and unnecessary for all but the largest RC planes.

  • @NoonzAirborneRC

    @NoonzAirborneRC

    Not tedious. I cg a plane in under a minute. Just longer in the video bc of all the explaining. Meant more for my 40lb turbines. And this is full proof! Not fool proof!

    @@NoonzAirborneRC as an A&P and am RC pilot I understand completely. Once your start involving math and weight, arm, and, moment calculations, mathematical errors are now a possibility, whereas when the plane is physically balanced they aren't. So, no it's not full proof, it's not foolproof. As I stated, unnecessary for anything except maybe the largest RC planes, which you apparently agree with.

    @@shelbyseelbach9568 it is full proof like you said with math...if you mess up you are the fool why its not full proof. I am not urging you to buy it nor did I tell you where I got it from nor did I put a link it was just a demonstration because I've gotten 38 emails on how to CG an aircraft buy it or don't buy it I just use a cheap $300 for me to show everybody would have been better if I would have put a $10,000 jet on there that not everybody can afford? Un yeah....if an individual can handle simple math (3rd grade) then this is not the unit them shoot this hobby for that fact hahahahaha.thanks for watching thanks for your opinion have a great day.
