Thank you bro for introducing us this phone. I'm currently have energizer e241s but this could be a worthy upgrade but I think I will miss Kai os since the zmi is based on Android KitKat and it's a very old version. And btw I'm your new subscriber yeayyy 🎉🎉🎉

Good review as usual! Is it easy to navigate through sideloaded apps without a touch screen? Also, have you tried installing a custom launcher for the phone? The AGM has a really poor screen when viewed from the side, is this phones screen better?

It’s more difficult to navigate, but not impossible. Some apps are harder than others for sure. Custom launcher is a no go. This phone’s screen is better

Hej, how about writing on the phone? Does it have t9? And how about the buttons, are they nice for typing? At the moment I have a Ruggear160 (has Android 4.4, could install Signal and many other apps) but the buttons are horrible. Most of the time it doesn't get the push so I need ages for simple words. And no t9... especially not in german (which is my problem for the xiaomi qf9)

Hi, how does the LTE speed compare to a ‘normal’ phone? Thinking of using this mainly as a hotspot/tether device and I wonder if would perform well enough

If you are outside of the US, LTE will work well. Inside the US, it will be only 3G sadly.

those tiles remind me of the old nokia lumia windows phones.😢 i had a couple of xiaomi android one phones. just like you described this feature phone, my-phones' build quality/premium feel and marathon use battery life is excellent. imo xiaomi is the best "value" in the phone market. for the areas this has 100% network compatibility(all lte bands of chosen network is supported on phone)... this is probably as close as you can get to a "flagship" feature phone. another great alternative and review, thanks!!!

no, what i meant is that "if" your chosen network let's say globe telecom(philippines), whose LTE works on bands 3, 7, and 41... if these three bands are supported on the z1, and they are... then this phone is golden for you since 2G/3G is also covered. unfortunately for us folks in the States, having done a quick search on the specs... none of the US based networks supports this phone for LTE. i see only LTE bands 1/3/5/7/8/38/39/40/41 for this phone. quadband 2G looks good only on tmobile for those areas still covered by the older gsm bands. and 3G bands 1/2/5/8 only covers att and its mvno's running on band 2/5 while they are still supporting it. unfortunately, tmobile's 2G is getting smaller. and while 3G band 2 is supported, tmobile's band 4 is missing on this phone.

@@statyisgod yes. They are using a version of android that does not feed all data to Google :). I’d pick the AGM M7 personally. It’s a bit big for some, but I think it’s the best out of the three.

Works like satnav but I’d recommend the f21 pro from Xiaomi if you need GPS

You can sync and transfer. I’d say contact limit is about 1K for internal, but you can use an SD card and sync that way :)

u can but a decent one sith a bb keypad style , no way ( ergonomic and the way the split the num key is better than lets say a nokia)

It does not pick up any 4G sadly. It sometimes works on 3G, but it drops it from time to time. This may be due to me living in suburban area, but those are the issues I have had.

Great review. Is it possible to install Gmail, Google, Google Maps, IG, FB, WhatsApp and other Android apps as well as can it do a print-screen and is web browser compatible with bank websites to do online banking transactions?

Not all of those. Only some will work. I think the AGM M7 or the Xiaomi f21 pro are better options for you.

@@JoseBriones TQ for a fast reply. I was impressed by the Xiaomi F21 Pro which reminds me of my 3G Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type I bought in 2010. Golden Reviewer clarified being Android, he can install any app he wants but didn’t show how to.

Could you review Nokia Asha 501/503? This device only have 2G (501) and 3G (503) but the UI and features are good for digital minimalism

Not fully. It does work sometimes, but other times it fails. You can use other syncing apps, but the google accounts sometimes works, but sometimes it does not :(

AGM M5 because it has a touchscreen and apps work better. If you are looking to have easy compatibility and transition from a smartphone the AGM M5 is way better! :)

Great phone and gereat review! It scares me though because Android might get new updates that could make this cellphone completely useless, something that with a KaiOS cellphone shouldn't happen due to a bigger care given from the makers. For example I install Whatsapp, that could work at first , but not anymore in an updated version. Do you suggest to buy it, considering all of these concerns? I will need it just for Whatsapp(voice and video calls included) and any maps downloadable. Thanks, keep up your awesome catalogue!

I don’t think it’ll be a big issue in this case given that app compatibility lasts for a few generations

I am looking in to a minaliatic phone but it would need to have Spotify so I can still listen to music in the train. Would you suggest a phone to me? Calling and SMS is everything else I need. No maps or all just Spotify

It can only work in certain areas with TMobile. I'd advise you to look elsewhere or ask on the reddit to see if someone in your area has one to test.

Just bought one of these. Everytime i try to open a download it tells me the phone is set to blocks app installs from unknown sources, and gives me no other option but to click cancel. I've looked in the very brief security menu. No dice. Any ideas?

You have to do the method of restoring the apps. It is part of my video, make sure to rewatch it closely.

@@sosiamul You have to first go to the “restore and backup” tab on extra tools and do a backup. After you do that, you’ll have a folder on the SD Card. Add all the APKs you want to the SD Card under that folder and then do a restore. It will install some apps and some others are not compatible.

Maintain the keypad pressed and it will come up for the supported apps, otherwise it is not possible. If the app doesn't support it, it won't run.
