    I have a few questions I hope you can answer. I am looking for a cheap version of the Hue and came across your vid. I'm interested in buying one of these desk lamp and a few Yeelight LED bulbs. Can you control all the light simultaneously or do you need do control each light individually? Is it compatible with IFTTT? Can you connect the lights to a music source and light along the current song? Is it possible to set an allarm clock and when it goes off, the lights turns on? Looking forward hearing from you. Thx!

  • @wonked

    @wonked

    8 жыл бұрын

    +0mcabra I haven't tested this extensively but from what I can see the bulb connects to your WiFi and is then linked to your Mi account. I believe all communication goes through Xiaomi's server so that you can control the light even when you're not at home.

    I live in the US, using the screw-type socket for light bulbs, but our mains are 100-127V according to this (www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/). Would the already not-so-bright light be even more negatively affected by this? There's a Xiaomi Flash sale going on at Gearbest and I'm really tempted to make my room's lighting "smart," but if it's too dark to be useful then there's no point.

I might as well have my 8W E27 LED run 24/7 and be better off. Cool feature to have a smart lamp, but this way I could actually connect a raspberry pi instead that uses around 4W and do even more with it, inlcuding light switcharoos.

    That whole thing in what version of a gateway you must buy, what version of a sensor you must buy, what version of a lamp you must buy etc is just rediculous. There is no logic beside this. The same lamp, the same gateway with different firmware and you only rely in what the store says when most stores just sell the gateway or the lamp or the sensors etc not mentioning about any upcoming “european” versions. We bought the gateway and sensors and lamps and we are waiting for SO LONG (2 years now) to be supported in the European server and now what they all actually say is “oh you know what we have european versions! just go buy them ALL OVER AGAIN!!” that for me is a scam, a rip off and i finally had it with both Xiaomi and Yeelight about this. Since yeelight is under Xiaomi’s umbrella is just as responsible as Xiaomi for how their products work regarding the whole ecosystem. Where was yeelight 1 or 2 years ago telling european customers “please dont buy our products because we are preparing a specific version for Europe”? NOWHERE because money is sweet! but “no we are not responsible about anything… Xiaomi/Aqara always is!” the same excuse over and over. They are both responsible and I am really frustrated for waiting for so long for nothing. What “i confirmed with MiHome” means? When the customer is supposed to find out about this? by luck? after the purchase? if he complains in a forum? where was the sticky announcement that you are preparing european versions? No respect to their customers at all from both companies. If they want our money they first have to gain our respect and that is something they lost in the last couple years, not because of bad products but because of BAD decisions and bad support and that is the saddest part.

    I regret buying these lights. The IOS app is severely limited. I don't mind it being in chinese but it doesn't even have all the functions the android APP has. And my android tablet for some reason can not start the mi home app. Blah, should have wasted a few extra bucks and gotten the Philips Hue instead. Disappointed with Xiaomi this time.

    Oh, I am using the Mi home app, where the IOS version doesn't even have the ability to group lights together + 75% of it is in chinese. Still if I am to use the yeelight app instead my Xiaomi/Philips desk lamp won't work and I have to switch app every time I want to access that. They should just fix the IOS version of the mi home app and I would be happy, guess I will have to live with using 2 different apps until then. Anyway thanks for the tip.

    Your reply were 6 months ago. I'm got my whole place with Yee Light hooked up. I've both the Xiaomi Home app, and the Yee Light app. Works pretty brilliantly for me.
