XGIMI: There are Ultra great things on this Horizon

XGIMI: There are Ultra great things on this Horizon
Horizon Ultra has (almost) everything, but enough of (almost) everything to make it a real go-to contender considering everything that comes close to this projector seems to be far more expensive and far less attractive. I like UST projectors, it's why I bought an Aura - but its hard to argue with the results of the Horizon Ultra.
XGIMI has placed themselves in a powerful position to rule aspects of the standard cast/throw projector market. With features, style, and competitively low pricing, it all seems to be here. I wonder if they will make a Horizon Ultra 'Pro' after this?

    @@EightSixMatt -- Awesome. Whenever my ex used the 'we' pronoun and it involved manual labor, she meant to use the 'you' pronoun. "We should clear out those shrubs and put in a flowerbed." "We need to put up the Christmas lights." Things like that, lol. Glad you got to keep it =)

    Any thoughts on how off angle the projector can be before the keystone correction fails? I want a projector that can sit in the corner of our room and still project a square image on the far wall. I bought a new Yaber and its auto keystone tools said the angle was too much for it. (Ill be returning that one)

  • @EightSixMatt

    @EightSixMatt

    So that can be hard to answer - an extreme angle will limit the projected size: If starting direct in front of the position +/- 20-30 degrees max before it won't or can't. Without knowing the space it'd be hard to say how much within reason you could really milk from it. As you angle one side you limit the size of projection as it will square to the smallest available range, and doesn't feature a mechanical lens shift. A worst case - and what I'd do, try it and see if it fits the bill for you and return it if it doesn't (which isn't applicable for everyone outside the US I know).

    How long does the bulb last and how do you replace it and how much does a new bulb cost?

  • @EightSixMatt

    @EightSixMatt

    4 ай бұрын

    LED sources are 20-30k hour life spans typically - but often go much longer. This is not like a traditional lamp projector the markets been moving away from. Think of it like LED bulbs vs Incandescent - lower draw, longer life span

    I’m traveling overseas from the US to Europe and will stay in Europe for about a year. Do you think this projector is too big for carry on luggage? I wanna get one with me since Airbnb TVs usually small size.

  • @EightSixMatt

    @EightSixMatt

    I wouldn't call it 'too big' - it's not technically a 'portable projector' but it should fit in a decent sized suit case. Don't forget - you may need some special adapter for EU power standards for it.

    Hdmi 2.1? Many other reviews said the ports were 2.0

  • @EightSixMatt

    @EightSixMatt

    10 ай бұрын

    Yep, this was one of my questions to them from the beginning and I asked it twice to make sure. They originally didn’t want to cap it at 60hz, one of the best reasons for using 2.1 would be to utilize higher refresh rates - so somewhat of a moot point to have it. Initially they wanted 144 and atleast 120 before capping it to 60, but the hdmi according to them is 2.1 (of which variant I’m not sure). So on the surface based on 60hz cap it might as well be 2.0 - but here’s one of my Q and As from them. I guess in theory a firmware update or someone that would risk lifting the cap could utilize higher refresh rates: “1. Are both HDMI truly 2.1 or just the eARC HDMI? - (REP): yes they are both HDMI 2.1 and one of them supports EARC” I asked again in a different email and they claimed to have confirmed it with their engineers. Again though - somewhat moot as they have imposed limitations (I would assume to prevent a problem they encountered).
