Okay, so it's not just me. I try to give them a pass if they're young, but they literally shout-out Nore and the album in the hook. They mention the Neptunes and when they say this that O2 flow, it's a reference to when the song came out. Regardless, they always seem to enjoy the song. I just think they'll enjoy it more knowing that information

Also the Phat line is from the 1997 Movie called Money Talks, that's where it originated. Chris Tucker's character calls Brie Larsons character Phat, she gets offended until he explains what Phat stands for. If you've never seen that movie watch it, so funny. Even though I think the plot is corny the movie is still a fun watch.

So the more I listen this the more I pick up themes, So when Cocona says " they don't know about that old school smoke no Jo camel" , this is my interpretation, this is a call out to other Idols in the industry that are rappers because they are told to be, they are just rappers for their group without going deep into rap or hip-hop music, they chose an old school beat for this not only because other Idols won't do it but probably because they don't know it. The next line when she says, "Alphas on deck put some respect on those two letters" , I interpret it as having respect for the fanbase for knowing the references and honoring OGs that have come before them. Which is ballsy for an Idol group, these girsl although, are for all people its as if they are targeting the old heads and millennials with Gen-Z youth. At the end when they say "XG breaking Idol StereoTypes", I took it as, Yea we know people say that Idol's can't rap, Its not our fault, but we are going to show you a new standard for idol groups, when it comes to rapping. XG literally made stop taking other groups seriously, they made me feel like every other idol group is just manufactured and just making music just to make money.

Basically everything you just said is the step by step instructions for the BTS rapline lmao ones who were hip hop heads long before they were idols… making songs with nods to hip hop greats, writing and producing their own mixtapes on their own time…. It’s the way BTS debuted lol and with experienced real ass emcees leading the way with no money while singing and rapping in Korean….. it’s exactly like BTS lol especially making tracks with old school beats…worked on their own lyrics for regulator with warren g himself… it’s wild how much of what you said links to BTS .. mainly the rapline … but again that hip hop love came long before they were ever idols… interesting… may be why I have been in to xg so much since I discovered them. Also I wouldn’t be such a judgmental snob about other idols… they don’t all have the options to do what they want to do or make the music that they want to… bc it’s out of their hands… idol groups are literally put together to make talented groups… xg was put together with this specific concept in mind lol it’s literally the same exact thing. Not every country has the same opportunities for jobs and lives for adults after graduating school… some idols became idols to help provide for their poor families… and are so desperate to succeed that they kill themself to be able to succeed. My first interpretation of the “wilding out” line is that XG doesn’t need to carry a gun to be cool. However I think there is a deeper sociological reference of that line since part of the 3A & 3B raps are about breaking stereotypes. Canon is a Japanese camera brand. The “wilding out without a canon” line is implying that XG is the antithesis of stereotypical camera-toting Japanese tourists. Note that in the lyrics, canon is spelled with one “n”. Several of their songs & raps mention breaking stereotypes such as Maya in tape 3A saying “XG pushing xp, breaking boundaries, hit different, built different…” Breaking stereotypes is a recurring theme in many of their songs and I think a Nick Cannon reference in Nothing is coincidental and doesn’t fit the theme.

1:01 I’m gonna need someone to explain to me how tf cocona is not only NOT one of their like 3 main dancers… but she’s also not a lead dancer and I’m fact she has NO dance position in this group?!?!?!? Ain’t no way… she’s top 1 or 2 imo… jurin is fire and so so good… she’s exceptional as a dancer.. but cocona was born w undeniable rhythm… she dances as if it’s as easy as breathing with how she moves.. especially bc she’s always in the back and off to the sides… like this girl deserves more center time … she specially since she’s 1 of 2 main rappers… jurin is a lead rapper and there’s no way in hell that makes sense bc she’s got WAY more parts than cocona rapping… Harvey also does … but not in an extreme way… some of the songs the first like 10 seconds of the song are just jurin rapping.. like they could at least split that up to not do cocona so dirty… and last she holds no vocal position in this group even though she was winning singing competitions even before xg… and she sings in quite a few of their songs. I’m not saying she needs all the center time and top of all positions bc each of these girls are top tier talent and charisma… but the lopsided distribution is such a shame with all this talent. Coco deserves better imo… and I know I mentioned jurin I’m my explanation but I love jurin too… she’s crazy talented and smart.. choreographs and leads flawlessly…she deserves everything she gets bc she’s that good…. But cocona is that good or damn close especially in dance and rap… so it’s be nice to highlight her more often with all these other absolute superstars
