XG - PUPPET SHOW OFFICIAL MV Reaction!! WE ARE WATCHING A MOVIE! (Alert: Long Cinematography Talk)

Ойын-сауық

I don't know how I did a 40+ minute reaction for this 4 minute video....I also had to cut out a few things because it was just wayyy too long! Rendering was a nightmare....I focused a lot on the cinematography portion since it's crucial to the storytelling (also because I work in film haha)

I got emotional at the end of New Dance, but it was about how proud I was of XG. I watched their journey through the doc and other videos and New Dance felt like all the hard work paid off and they were having fun with each other as a group.

It's really interesting. I noticed how the moon color changed to blue from white. (The one in the bridge part of the song) after Chisa and Juria touched the mother. I agree that part is a message for the next generation. Just like you said, it's like persuading the guardian that it'll be okay just trust us we'll be an inspiration for them. We'll lead the way for them to be brave and not be scared to explore and do what they want to reach their dreams. I REALLY LOVE THE MESSAGE. I've been thinking a lot about it since it dropped. Some people around the world need this message. And I'm one of them. I wish XG exist back then 😅. Thank you for your insights. ❤

And about the white outfits they had at the end remind me of what they had mentioned before "I'll never forget my roots". I think that was in the documentary.

Thank you so much!! Exactly! I wanted to mention the generation & trust thing but my mouth was just not cooperating with my brain at that point 🤣 like you said I wish messages like these existed in some other places and for the last generation 😢 that’s why I cried (w/o fully processing why) immediately during that bridge. There are so many things I wish I’d realized earlier in my life but it’s never too late ❤ and we are passing it down that’s all that matters

I’m glad you noticed Chisa’s shot with Shooting Star. I know for sure all their MV’s are connected in some way or another. This MV is a masterpiece both symbolic and metaphorical. I always said that this video and its song is open to many interpretations. Some found it in a bad light which to me is ridiculous. It basically weeded out the people who didn’t understand the song and video.

Thank you! I’m sure there are other details that are connected and there’s no wrong answer (except people who feel unnecessarily offended by it duh)! This was such an amazing, thorough reaction and analysis. Upon my initial viewings I just took the visuals at face value and looked at it as another song of empowerment and overcoming adversity, but after seeing your perspective, I’m appreciating the smaller details and scenes even more, which made for an even stronger impact and appreciation for the messages they want to convey. I felt that a lot of the scenes could apply to more than one type of relationship or dynamic(romantic, friendship, academic, career, community), so in a way it can be very personal depending on how the scenes are interpreted. On Instagram, the company that made Harvey and Juria’s teeth posted the grills they used, and you were the only one who I’ve seen that guessed correctly with Harvey’s teeth being red. I took those scenes as, don’t mistake my kindness as weakness, I can bark or I can bite.😅 Thank you again for these thoughtful analyses, I didn’t expect to be so touched by a song. The ending on top of the tower to me represented transformation and triumph, and yes, there will be at least a recorded version of the performance in the white outfits on the Studio Choom channel. Can’t wait!!

Thank you!! you have no idea how much your comment touched me - I really appreciate you taking the time to watch through my messy analysis lol (I wasn’t in the functional mode!!) Totally agree that the scenes & symbols can be interpreted in different ways depending on the viewer’s perspective. I see female companionship and empowerment, and the whole being brave message touched me personally as I am an Asian female who went through similar hardships. And others see friendships/family bond too. There’s no wrong answer!! That’s why I love cinema ❤️ and I love that they incorporated cinematic language into this music video. I desperately need a live stage with these white outfits!!! Hopefully I can check out the studio choom stage tonight 💕I’ll try not to cry again lol

I felt your reaction in my soul 🥹❤, and you gave some incredible insight into how the MV was shot. I subscribed so fast. It’s amazing how much storytelling and meaning they were able to fit into this music video. The empowering lyrics of the song can stand alone, but the visuals of the MV are so clever and weave the song into their lore too! It felt like a prequel within XG’s story; seeing them on their home world before they came to earth, and the very moment they take that fateful leap to escape and overcome the limitations of their society. They passed through the gateway, and ascended. I agree completely with your observations about that guardian character being motherly and cautious... The mother/daughter moment… letting them become the pioneers. It’s amazing how much they were able to establish in just a few minutes.

Harvey has in mv dark teeth, and it is an old Japanese tradition that every married woman must do to show obedience to their husbands. Bali has a similar tradition where women would sharpen their teeth to show obedience like Jurin has. Hinata also has a hairstyle resembling a traditional wedding hair set of Mongolian women. Others also have a veil on or some wedding hair pieces. So it could mean they were expected to be obedient but they are fighting back, like grabbing destiny in their own hands and taking control. 🤔

Im the hypercritical American Korean Gen Xer who dislikes KPop cause, to be honest, KPop sound like variations of corny NSYNC songs. Same beats being recycled every couple years but XG... they're different. One thing that really bothers me is that female(even the male) KPop groups are heavily and I mean HEAVILY sexualized and it really embarrassing to me. Yeah they all have voices but why make them into lewd adult children? XG the farthest they go is "flirty" not thot like in any way. Dancing...clean yet amazing. Singing...clean lyrics yet hits. Fashion...again...clean and comes directly from 1990. XG is different on another level. I understand the "hybernation".

Thank you for appreciating XG! The over-sexualization of idols (eps female idols) is definitely something gaining more & more attention (hopefully) these days. I could see some improvements in concepts/lyrics/outfits between diff generations (with absolutely no intent to attack the idols themselves), so I’m hoping we are going in the right direction. I myself am more concerned with the overall age limitation, there’s nothing wrong with very young members debuting because of their talent, but we barely see ppl over 18 debuting anymore, and that just doesn’t seem right. I agree XG is so different, they gave out these robust strong dynamic artist vibes, and that made people want to dig deeper and connect with them 🐺
