I really like the message in lyrics. Even as a guy, I can appreciate it. Asia is predominately a patriarchal society, you're kind of raised to just keep your head down and dont cause trouble. I can see why women in China, Japan, and other Asian countries love this group and their message.

Alot of people have been talking about the underlying message in the song MV and you can see Harvey has red teeth (women who are forced to be quiet and abide) and jurin has sharp teeth (women who bite back but get treated like feral animals), notice how when Juria jumped for the balloon she was held back by the creature while hinata was holding it's hand as if forced to just watch and abide by the rules. Some have pointed out some wearing bride pieces to show that women have been just seen as objects since a young age to get ready to treat a man's needs and support them fully. There's been alot of theories but the all around basis seems to be they want to be heard and treated like equals already and are saying let's switch roles for a day and tell you how it feels like for women to basically be a puppet for centuries, now some drama😂 maybe you've seen but a reactor acted exactly the way the people the message was talking about and said seriously disgusting things and ended up having to disable the comments one of the things is he called them "a group of vaginas" it surprised me as well as others as he's enjoyed xg other songs and is getting called out by other reactors

They don't know how to miss. Not one bit. Everything they've dropped since day one is straight fire. The lyrics scream women empowerment which XG has been campaigning since day one - even during their trainee days. (you'll see once you dive to their docu). XG really gives voice and power to women especially to the patriarchal society that we're in, most parts of Asia, Africa and even in Europe - women's voice aren't often heard, that's why XG is winning fans all over the world because of their message to the world. As a guy, these made me fall in love with XG more. And i've been stanning them since TIPPY TOES. The whole EP is as beautiful as it gets. 6 tracks. 5 beautiful songs. 4 cinematic MV's for an EP. Damn. Thanks for the XG love. The baddest GG out there with another win. 🔥🔥

XG has MOVE for dance, TAPE for rap and VOX for vocal covers.

Their bridges on all their songs never misses. It’s like they mastered it. They know how and what to do in that particular song. Great song writing by Simon, Lentz, Day Day, Chancellor, Rachel West and especially the writers and producers in Atlanta, Georgia who gave us Shooting Star and Left Right. These guys are amazing. I know for sure, Simon has a vault of songs written in Atlanta and by the others that I’ve mentioned. The funny part is, these and those songs were written way before XG was formed, well most of them.

Dear Simon san, congratulations on completing the wonderful prologue "NEW DNA". The tone and the visuals of the explosion scene in "Puppet Show" reminded me of the quiet passionate atmosphere expressed in "Dioxin from Fish!" (which to me is Japan's best video work) by Japanese musicians Yuya Uchida and Ryudo Uzaki. It evokes the spirit of rock'n'roll, which is both radical and cool. In terms of the sound, your MV also remind me Ryuichi Sakamoto's albums ``Sweet Revenge'' and ``Smoochy'', which aim to fuse academia and pop music, have a challenging atmosphere that explores the unknown of the times, and also reminds me like the young comet of J-POP, Hikaru Utada, has the fast-paced and era-breaking feel of the times. this is happening after a quarter of a century. Chisa and Juria have exceptional voices, to have both in one group is just outrageous. Meanwhile the rest of the world is blessed. We hear them sing off each other. Not since Lennon and McCarthy were songwriting, have we had two talents creating such beautiful moments.

You're right, the tempo doesn't change. The effect is achieved by changing the backbeat from 2 and 4, to being only on 3, which makes it feel slower without actually changing the tempo.

Totally agreed with your interpretation Emily🎉 I don’t see this song sends a negative message.

So this music video, in my theory, they are like trapped in the underworld kind of like stranger things in the upside down and they can only go to the other world through the abyss if they are accepted. 1, the guy jumps and you can see in this music video all of the members eyes got like super wide cause they were watching to see if he would make it and he like explodes so he wasnt accepted. 2, they were praying or asking for guidance or something from that "god" person and then 3, whenever they all jumped it showed Cocona in the air forever but she landed and they were running up a building like they are running to the top. My biggest question was look at Maya before they jumped, she has like really icy crystal eyes and then at the very end when they are on the other side one of her eyes are red... so did like did something go wrong during the jump and they are going to like turn demonic? Like remember girl gvng they all had like different colored eyes.... or is this just to make the MV more hype? I have no idea! Ugh XG always keeping me on my tippy toes (see what I did there lol)

The song is depicting girls in K-pop & music Industry I’m for girls in anything as long as they are qualified. The women in football is 50/50. You can tell who studied the game n who is there for the job. I’m for anyone qualified to do the job. Last thing I need is a person who got the job to fill the quota landing the plane for me or doing my surgery. If you fit the position well do it. Who cares who or what it is. The whole mindset of women are "allowed' to be referees or sports broadcasting is weak, that's like a man saying we aren't allowed to be nurses or teachers, maybe it's because men and women in general have different interest's (which is a statistical fact) which affects career decisions, nowadays people are dominated by victim mentality.

how is it weak? whenever women try to enter male dominated spaces they to this day get ridiculed or even worse sexually harassed. in some places it has gotten better but not everywhere yet. in this case, we’re talking about the idol industry where there’s a lot of misogyny and control over female idols.

Its not that women aren’t “allowed” (well in 2023), it’s that they’re made uncomfortable every step of the way. Being the only “different” person in a room will make anyone not feel welcome but add in years of sexism and “boys club” mentality in those professions and yeah it takes a strong personality for a person to follow their goals anyway.
