+Adam Vagus Same. Onslaught to me is already an amazing game. But the Dreadmire fixes will make it even just the core game better. The wave changes are my favorite thing already about Dreadmire's rules updates.

So, Tom, which monster is your favorite again? :D Wonder if Tom pronounces it Zenoshift actually, when it should sound Kseno probably.

I have consider the possibility to buy Xenoshyft and/or to pledge for Dreadmire and I have the feeling that the game is too expensive for what it has and as a too low replayability.

+XShrike My brother and I tried it for the first time at our local board game cafe yesterday. We got half way through Wave 2 both times we played before getting overrun. We're pretty hyped to get Xenoshyft: Dreadmire when it comes out.

am very confused why everyone talks so positively about this game. The Dice Tower talked so positively about it that I ran out and bought it. After hours and hours of playing, my wife and I could not get anywhere. We had not even come close to beating it. We pored over the rules hoping we missed something. Nope. We watched other playing on-line in the hopes we were doing something wrong. Nope. We finally resulted in creating house rules in order to get our first win. Are we alone in this? Are people enjoying a game that is relatively unwinnable? I would love to hear from others.

Dreadmire has some fixes to the waves so that maybe be the case. But I'm not sure about unwinnable, though it is definitely hard. I've only played twice and lost both but even on the second playthrough my brother and I got a little further than the first attempt. I can't say for sure about Onslaught being unfair without several more tries.

+Snowraven67 I've only played this game a couple of times, but managed to win multiple times and actually thought this game was kinda easier than what I'm used to with coop board games. Maybe you just didn't go for the right strategy? When I was playing this game with a friend, we were doing so much damage with pulsar bombs and special abilities that we barely even had to hire and place down new troops.

Totally agree with you. All the high praise and hype for this game made me run out and buy it as well. I tried house rules as well, but it still feels like an unbalanced game to me. I don't know if it's unwinnable, but it sure does feel like it.

Without watching you play I can't be sure what you are doing. I can tell you something that helped me. Let me start off by saying that mostly I play solo (only one faction) my biggest mistake was purchasing troops in the first rounds. Don't do this! By weapons/ grenades and tools. This way you won't be stuck with troops later on that you will need to get rid of. Also your equipment will help your more advanced troops. (When you get them) Like I said I play by myself and on a good game I'll reach round 7. Which is dramatically better than what I was getting. I hope this helps. I imagine I could do better with more players(more variety of cards for different situations) I enjoy the game being difficult. I don't like playing a game solo if I know I'll probably win.

+Snowraven67 I am curious as to what your house rule is that allowed you to get your first win?
