I really hate how Reign of Beasts combo makes you float, you look like an action figure being wrung around by an invisible hand. With Viper, there's momentum and style to the floating that makes it look anime and cool

While I don't think every job needs this level of depth in combos and priority highlights as Viper, I think this opens up so many possibilities for job design. Sure, the game suggests which button to press, but you can also do your thing to optimize during a fight. It's a win-win. Then you have the new options to separate followup combos to add more to the personalization aspect, another win! I really like what I'm seeing of Viper, it takes a lot of stuff I like from other jobs (enshroud concept of a "form" that deals flashy hits and big damage with a nuke at the end, managing of buffs from different combos, "continuation") and combines them in a really nice way. I like the touch of having a 3s base GCD for certain skills that have 2 oGCD to do easier weaving. It's also one of my favorite types of DPS: completely selfish. Even the 2min "buff" is just a free "enshroud", so you can save it as you see fit. You have no extra defensive, no shield (maybe?) and lots of movement with the ranged combo that can be saved through the red diamonds + the sick gap closer "thunderclap". Can't wait to see all the cool weapon designs from lvl80+!

I've heard a lot of people say that the sword guage thing is either unnecessary, or just confusing. Hopefully they actually just change the way the combos are telegraphed before release. If you can just follow the glowing buttons without understanding and be fine, that doesn't really sound very interesting. Sort of like how current monk needs you to understand your timings to know which button to use in each stance, or how Samurai needs you to use your three different combos to get all the stickers. It's very minor, and not hard, but it at least requires you to know how your job works, and have intent behind what you're doing. Obviously I haven't played Viper yet, but I'm very excited to. I just hope it's a bit less handholdy than people are saying it is.

When i get skills all at once... Like a smoothbrain i'd go to level 1 POTD and order skills as i learn them as if the job started at level 1, so i easier know which combo or where to put certain skills. That, or i just hit a dummy like everyone else lmao.

Viper's buff works like SAM's Jinpu and Shifu does. meaning once it's up, you don't have to think about it anymore, it's there and you press the button for the sake of combo, not to maintain the buff the debuff works as RPR's death design. applied for 20 secs, and you can apply it again to increase the duration for a max of 40 secs. it's essentially not a dot where you have to wait until 1 or 2 secs remaining to reapply it. meaning it's easier to maintain. MNK's buff and debuff doesn't work like this. if you reapply your DoT or buff before it almost ends, it's a DPS loss. that's why the 2-2-3 rotation exist for MNK.

Monk had to change. It's the least played job at level 90 (based on achievement complettion rate for final Manderville relic step)

you don't have to manage them, haste and damage up buff automatically refreshes w your 1-2-3 super early with a super long duration, and the debuff stacks up to twice so you have a whole 20 second window to reapply it without losing anything
