This game was always a test ground on Live Servers, but with criterion is just whole other level, yes, you can get the item from normal P12, but this is for the 650 version, to be able to put 665 from criterion you need to get the Solvent from P11S to upgrade the weapon to 660, and THEN you can use the criterion one to put 665.

Sounds like Bozja weapons but in a different spot...Youre always going to be forced to re-run things or wait for new content for an upgrade - there is no inbetween its one or the other and in this situation people want their cake and to eat it too- People upset that theres no Bozja or grind for your relic weapons - Well guess what? The grind was doing the old raids you already did again. Now: People are upset that they have to go do the old raids to get their weapon upgraded - Well guess what? You said you wanted a new area and a grind to get your relics - too late for that to happen so just do it with criterion instead. Theres no winning.

What, you hoping to get some sprouts to eat up your bullshit? You also ain't even fucking remembering the relic grind right. Just fucking look up any resistance relics grind guides (you didn't even call them Resistance Relics once in your rant, which makes me wonder if you even did them lol). You had the OPTION to do old raids (and old raids by even ShB standards like CT, HW, etc. which requires almost zero effort and can solo over half the grind vs mandating Eden Savage Raids which you DON'T need for the grind unlike these glams needing Criterion Savage. Which is even worse than Eden Savage due to how Criterion Savage dungeons are designed. OR you can ignore all that and just passively grind it in Bozja while getting a bunch of other stuff in there anyways (and Bozja can be even faster than the raid/dungeon spam routes too in some cases). "Oh but one of the last steps force you to do DRN it's so hard" DRN is fucking EASY! Just join an 8-man farm party, there's literally a few posted every fucking day in PF. The echo scales so a party of 8 who actually use their DRN essences and easily farmable high damage actions can clear it in sub-15 minutes. If you're clearing first time, just look up a guide so you have some idea how to avoid the mechanics and you'll be fine. And you'll only get better and faster at it the more you do it. While reclearing Criterion Savage will always take longer since there's zero way to cheese it. Fuck, I've seen people SOLO DRN just to flex. It ain't ANYWHERE as tedious/hard/annoying as Criterion Savage. Resistance Relic Grinding is easy midcore content you don't need any gear for because it's all level-synced (even wearing level 1 gear in Bozja will be synced up to level 80) and Criterion Savage is hardcore, requiring P12S gear to even attempt. The two ain't comparable and you just look really bad/untrustworthy for trying to convince people otherwise.

@@DJ_Treu there's a lot painted over here just to get to the "people are being petty" punchline... firstly Bozja gave 2 paths, run a lot of Bozja or do older raid and dungeon content to give some incentive to go back to previous expansions (emphasis on OLDER content and the fact that Bozja relics offered 2 paths). Secondly, Bozja did not require current tier gear, nor did it require current tier savage. Criterion is exclusively for savage raiders. The only "farming" done here was already done in savage prog and reclears. So that basically means there is no real grind outside of prog and reclear, which we were doing anyway.

Ultimates just instantly rewards u for succeeding. To get all weapons from ultimate, u just need do ultimate. To get all weapons from criterion savage, u need grind weekly tomes(which are only 450 a week locked lol) + p11s(which u can do once a week and it's not guaranteed to get weapon upgrade, and if u not lucky - only for books after several weeks)

That tells you how out of touch FF14 team is nowadays. They do great stuff like the overall presentation of the game. Music, graphics(despite the super old engine) and all of that is top notch. However the core problems of the game like gear, lack of meaningful content.....is prevalent. But don't worry my dude, Yoshi-P will announce green mage and everyone will forger this problems and hail the ff14 team as god like.

Because it was part of the contest design winners and they didn't want to leave it out of the glowy weapons or people would complain just as much. Realistically it should be obtained from blue mage content but they didn't want to make blue mage content. What they could've done - which would've been cool - is to make it an achievement reward from doing Delubrum Reginae Savage as a blue mage party, but then they'd have to test and make sure its actually possible to do so, which they likely didn't have time for.

I don't even know who this is for. Like if someone is still working on p12s p1 / p2 right now, they probably aren't doing criterion savage and if someone completed the current savage tier, they're probably done for a while anyway and have no interest in the criterion savage. I barely have energy left after a tier to get my other jobs geared up.

They really should’ve made it possible to get normal upgrades from this as well. More places to get weekly shit from is good.

I was hoping to catch up with savage criterion on weapon as I was late for the raid tier. What a dissapontment. I like savage at least semi-blind, so I had a chance to turn my own brains on. I am not doing the raids with guides just for the weapon upgrade and you got to find practice parties still.

Was this advertised as an alternative way to get gear? I figured it was kinda like doing Ultimate (lite) and doing it for the heck of it/the challenge rather than a sustainable way of achieving BiS, which you really can't do since it doesn't even reward armor. I would say it sucks to need to upgrade the weap prior, but i've been sitting on my 660 weaps for months atp.

You cant get the weapon unless you can farm p11, by the time you can buy it via 24 man the relic would have caught up so no point. So the people who can get the criterion weapon dont need it and the people who need it cant get.

Yeah I can do old savages unsynced if I just want glam, if people have problems with the current tier waiting is not a solution. Also this seems to me like it was the perfect opportunity to let people who want to gear without doing 8 man raids do so, but they are completely forgotten by this game. They should be making alternatives to gear so people can engage in content they like, not force people to do one thing on top of another just because the end product looks cool.

These upgrade the 660 tome weapons, right? You'll be able to get the upgrade mats for them from turning in Alliance raid coins or nuts eventually. Just like all the previous tiers. So, you don't actually have to go through savage unless you want it *right now.* Which, it's possible you could take more time clearing savage than just waiting for the upgrade item to be added to the coin/nut vendors, unless you got a cracked team.

Popular opinion: Criterion (Savage) should just drop a weapon coffer. Why does SE feel the need to bleed shit out so bad nowadays? It's not like getting the weapon gives any sort of significant advantage. It's literally a raid weapon when the raid tier has been out for months lol

This kind of content isnt for everyone. If you want everything handed to you go play WoW. It is not a raid weapon it is ilvl 665 on par with ultimate weapons. So..

@@zeuslorne7005 Raid weapons are ilvl665. It also changes the stats from the tomestone weapon to the same as the raid weapons stats when it gets upgraded. Also has the same amount of meld slots. Its literally just an alternate raid weapon that requires you do the raid up to the 3rd fight of the tier and then go do criterion instead of the 4th fight. Anyone can see that its stupid as fuck considering that by this point everyone raiding to the 3rd fight will also have cleared the 4th enough to get the raid weapon. The only point of getting the criterion one is for glam at that point. Which brings the question of why it isn't like ultimate weapons where you trade the totem for the weapon directly.

Then you're missing something. It will give you the page to exchange in old sharlay for the coating. Then take the exquisite coating along with the ilvl660 tomestone weapon to radz tome vendor. Problem solved. I have ran it multiple times and Have no ZERO issues

But why can you not get a twine, shine and solvent and then some accessories (in similar vain to proto ultima in dun scaith) from normal. Logic SE.....

Instead of making a whole other copy of an instance with the same mechanics, why not just make an achievement for criterion that gives you a title and even maybe a mount if you clear the whole criterion dungeon without anyone dying? That way we don't all of these unnecessary restrictions and scrambling to decide what would be a good reward(s). Deep dungeons already do something like this to certain extent, why can't criterion?

I hope they at least hit you up with at least one good beard option. I see too many viking glam characters with no beard to accompany them and it hurts my soul to see

The biggest sad part about criterion is that it really just feels like a lot of dev time gets wasted just to go into the opposite direction of what we want. All we really want is hard mode dungeons. That's it. It could literally be a scale up of a previous dungeon that's literally copypaste except the bosses do more challenging mechanics and require some prog. That's it. It wouldn't really take much dev time either. I hate using other MMO's like SWTOR as an example but like it's like when the Manaan dungeon in ROTHC came out and we later on got a hard mode in SoR. That hard mode dungeon added mechanics to literally every boss to make them a completely different fight (I'm literally describing what every WoW and SWTOR and similar player already know as a HM dungeon). Literally just like... take the level 53 dungeon (sohm al or however it's typed), have the trash be the exact same, and then just add a few mechanics and tight checks to the bosses. Like the first boss actually enrages if he eats a bee, or the second boss actually requires you to stack spread with proper mit and the DPS check for the green slime that we skip now with damage has actual tightness. Or even adding completely new mechanics to the bosses entirely. It wouldn't take much dev time and you could easily do this to like 3 dungeons per patch while the rest of the dev team does their ridiculously unnecessary polished one MSQ dungeon per patch. And then add the BiS upgrade pieces and sidegrade drops that the upgrade pieces also work on.

The funny thing is that they do have experience with each other MMOs. The lead devs and Yoshi P have played MMOs. Yoshi P played Ultima Online till its final days and WoW. Yoshi P even made his team play WoW to find good things and ideas to help fix FFXIV and some of the devs still play WoW in their limited spare time. Yoshi P also had prior experience managing another MMO, DQX before they brought him over to FFXIV. MMOs like WoW and OSRS didn't have strong penetration into the Japanese market while MMOs made by Eastern devs have much more success like FFXIV, DQX, PSO2, etc. However, it is noted that for the younger devs their primary exposure to MMOs are Korean MMOs or Japanese Gatchas hence why we have been getting more QoL stuff that is expected from those MMOS (not to mention the Ultimate fiascos likely bringing in plugins into the forefront).

I feel like beint able to skip mechanics with BiS is good, because that means people without BiS can actually benefit from it. (Still shouldnt make you do p11s to get it tho lmao)

I think they are but it is progressing a lot more slowly than Japanese feedback (likely because almost every single dev they have only knows Japanese). The QoL they add is definitely a response to the demand due to the multiple Ultimate fiascos with plugins and Yoshi P said that Variant/Criterion was created because of Global feedback. They also have a handful of global community managers but that is more on Square not hiring enough community managers to handle all of their properties including all their mobile titles. I feel sort of bad for the global who have to parse through all the official forums, localize it into Japanese formalities, and pray that their work gets seen by a Japanese manager who thinks the feedback is important enough to send to CBU3 (and then someone in CBU3 determines if that feedback if worth sending to the appropriate teams and subsequently Yoshi P since in corporations you really don't bother the top guy), while juggling fanfest, all of Square's mobile games, community for other Square's IPs like other FFs, Octopath, DQ, Nier, etc. It is often why if Yoshi P hears from fans directly when he travels overseas we get some neat stuff global has been doing.

What is more worrying is that they have no history of complaining about the game net-code which has been a reoccurring issue for years. JP don't see the problems that other regions do until the Fall Guys snapshots

The overarching problem with all of this is that Square has demonstrated a complete and utter unwillingness to change the game's cadence mid-expansion and has somehow made it significantly worse.

99% of the time I feel like you're being toxic on purpose... "Oh no, you have to clear P12 normal (several times) or P10 Savage once and win the tomestone!" Criterion Savage gives you a BiS Weapon for your Job in most cases ... (before relics happened), why would you be disappointed? I've never understood your "I'M THE TOXIC CONTENT CREATOR FOR FFXIV!!!" attitude... You could be a badass and help people, instead of doing what you seem to be doing...

People dont seem to understand how much more people would play if they could make actual bad ass characters. Character creation is outdated and saturated.

Criterion will never be a worthwhile investment of your time because casuals will cry about being gatekept out of content/rewards that they can't drool on their keyboard through. The boohooing over Savage/Ultimate is already bad enough.

Did you know 90% of Japanese men can't grow a beard? Did you also know that in Japanese society beards are considered 'unclean' and unprofessional for whatever crazy reason. That's why you will NEVER see a Japanese man with a beard. Of course we don't live in Japan so there is a case to be made for a beard. That being said who cares about it. I care more about fixing things like the rewards on Criterion and other gear things that actually matter. Aesthetics just aren't important to me really, at least not enough to raise a stink about it. If you want to complain stick to your rants on rewards and lazy design in Criterion and V+C since those actually matter.

Has anyone told him that you can get the Tomestone to upgrade the Tomestone weapons by farming P12 Normal? Granted, doing it 7 times for one sucks...

You can get the tomestone from P12 Normal to buy the weapon. To actually upgrade the weapon you need divine solvent which is from P11S only as of right now (They usually add it to alliance raid coin exchange way later) which is the version you need to upgrade to get the glows with the savage criterion material.

@DJ_Treu yes but now relics are an after thought. It use to be fates, old duties, a kill target, normal 8 man, large scale instance, or some kind of quest. Now its on the same level as picking up a tome weapon. Relics use to be that it was the grindy version of raid weapon. We're raid weapon took skill and relics took time. I straight up forget that there Relics now. Now I just buy them is I find myself cap on tomes doing other content. They are no longer special as you don't really work for it. It just happens. Almost everything give you tomes so you'll have the mean to buy it without noticing that you did. I use to look at people that had them and go "damn that player must have really worked for that" now its a no brainer.

@@umbralflow6883 I see where youre coming from. It would have been nice to have a random new zone to go to rather than just instanced areas. I just give them a big pass on a lot of things because 2021-2023 was pretty wild for trying to get things done no matter what job you held in the world, Cooking, Teaching, programming, Sweeping the office, etc. All got kinda screwed over.

I just see a bunch of scrubs complaining. I love criterion savage for the difficulty. The extra loot is just plus. Cry me a river.
