What I loved most about War of the Chosen is how it emotionally feels like these "Chosen" villains that I'm fighting against have the deck stacked against me, and yet I still manage to squeek by, and then listening to their bewilderment and frustration when things start to fall apart for them. It really amps me up.

Right! For a DLC I was very impressed. Was really hoping to see XCOM 3 with more of this, but don't think it'll ever happen.

@@easilydistractedgames Last I've heard, Firaxis was still planning on XCOM 3. They just took a break to work on Marvel's Midnight Suns because "it was too good to pass up". I don't know if we know yet if their next game is either a Civ game or XCOM 3 though.

I'm just gonna save time for everyone and say that the answer is yes. why you ask? because I said so. go play Xcom 2 and buy all the DLC. when you're done with that, get all the mods.

It's been around long enough now that the game plus all DLC is not very expensive. And it goes for an even lower sale price regularly.

OMG, Xcom2 throwback Tuesday!! Favourite Xcom2 moment was making a Dr Disrespect inspired character... he pretty much died immediately, which was sad

omg Xcom2 first video good choice :) But I mostly watched my roommates play it while I waited for the playstation to be free so I could play rocket league 🤔 I will check it out :)

Really well made video! I have like 300 hours on xcom 2, truly one of the most fun games. I would advise to structure the videos a bit more though, as to avoid repetition.

Thanks for the feedback! Yup I'm trying to maintain a constant flow of my upcoming reviews now.

I picked Xcom 2 up a week ago and it grabbed me as hard as Xcom 1 OG. Pod reveals feel bad, but that's about it and at least they serve a purpose in embaddening a mission. You feel stretched thin at every turn, you rarely start in control of a situation, and you can feel the built-in death spirals start up early enough to make sacrifices and keep going forward. What a legendary sequel. Also, I still savescum X4 missions. Screw those.

Congratulations for youre first video. Well made quality and kinda inspiring. I think I will give it another shot. I also stopped because it got too intense and my ego stood in my way . I played on normal and had a pretty good run. Felt too easy because I got things going pretty well. Even deleted 2 of said minibosses of the dlc. Started another run on veteran and got no chance and too much pressure trough higher live enemys and shorter timer. I thought there was no sweet spot for me, but I guess it was normal difficulty and I did pretty well in that run. In the next run I will play on normal again and not restart any mission. I think thats fair. Then I just need to accept any outcome and finish the game for once :D

I've tried almost every voice pack mod, but how does long war differ? Looked like the missions were longer, but they already take me quite a while to finish.

The mods really change a lot about the game, well for me. Some of them break sometimes, but they're easy to disable if a few don't work. But yeah, customizing the character skins, voices, mission types and more really add to the game replayability. Highly recommended!

Answer is yes, I just started playing 2 weeks ago and I’m amazed a how good the game is. I already know I’m going to play it again before I play WoTC.

Ah pity, but to be honest once your armour and weapons get more upgraded, it's still just as good. And yeah, playing WoTC really changed it up for me too.

With a few mods I am enjoying it more than in other years.

Yo i got this game on last steam sale for $2.99 is really fun game first time playing xcom and first time playing a turn based game im having fun . It will be fun to play with friends but is not possible. Xcom2 2024 is good

Yup, they used to have multilayer but it shut down. But for that price and all the mods it became one of my best single player experiences.

Well there's Parsec software to let you play coop somewhat.

I just bought the game, this game is so hard, my solders keep dying. I can't make any further progress.

I was the same! The first mission I lost half my squad. I'd suggest putting it on easy in the beginning, that's what I did the second time. Try use Overwatch as much as possible, flank the enemy and utilize the abilities of your squad.

You need to be careful to only engage 1 pod at a time. Ideally, never let the aliens shoot at you. Engage a single pod and destroy them before they get a turn. Do not charge at the enemy as soon as you see one. Either backup or hunker down your closest guy and put the rest on over watch. When they spend their turn running at you, that’s when you counter attack on the following turn. The game is hardest early on. As your soldiers get more skills, it gets easier. Strategically, the geoscape portion gets easier once you raid the alien underground base. Don’t play Ironman mode until you know what to do and want more of a challenge. Later on, you can use the skull jack even if you’ve done it before because you can use the intelligence to buy things on the black market. Remember that you don’t have to take every mission. If you’re too wounded, it is fine to just dig in your base and heal up, especially if you have the accelerated digging bonus. Avoid getting any wounds though. There are lots of ways to make the game easier. Experiment till you find something that works for you.

Never heard of mod jam - what does it do?

For me it's things like the customisation that make this game great, I can put myself in the game, my buddies. Whoever. I can set the challenge to be as hard or easy as I like, with mods do pretty much whatever I want. We need another instalment. Chimera Squad isn't it for me. I got it as a "Complete your Xcom Bundle " deal when I already had everything else, and on a 65% off sale. So Chimera cost me about 60 cents. But I still wish I hadn't spent it. The characters are all preset, talk like teens after too much caffeine and have more cringe than Cringy McCringeface at the annual "Who is the biggest Cringe?" contest

It was actually the mods that kept me coming back, and it really sucks that there isn't a game like this with such a level of customisation. Hopefully, XCOM 3 is still going to happen.
