This pretty much sums up my thoughts exactly. I only bought the game yesterday and have nearly 8 hours in it. I can't remember the last time I spent that much time on a game in such a short period. Funny thing is none of the xcoms ever really gripped me at all. I've always been more of a Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, War in the east, decisive campaigns, Crusader Kings or more recently Shadow Empire type gamer when it comes to strategy/tactics.

I'm so glad to hear the game is great! Can't wait to play myself. Thanks for the review

Was going to say the same, but hopefully not as wonky and runs good.

The morale mechanic in this game is absolutely brilliant, it's very much "fix and flank" from real life, if you can manage to pull it off here, not all that easy, but taking shots at an enemy to restrict their movement or to completely fix them in place is just as valid as to take shots to do actual damage. This game is also historically accurate, look up Jedburgh Teams. The different factions of the French, the French resistance was a bit of a mess and the Jedburghs tried to sort that out. The "radicals" didn't like the Gaullists and vice versa and the "Bandits" didn't really care about fighting the invaders, they just wanted a "get out of jail free" card. It is a very interesting part of history.

I love turned based strategy(xcom, xenonauts, silent storm) games but couldn't get past the first 30mins ....i dont really know why ..ill try again over the weekend.

The game is pretty awesome. Only issue I have is that a guy in full cover should have a reduced moral loss, when shot at. if that is in there, it seems pretty minute. I have a guy in the second story of a building, with full cove next to the window, and the guy under half cover on the the street, can strip my guy's moral pretty quick. My dude should have more confidence, than that. i'd also like to see more destructible things. The crates (for instance) are like cement blocks for grenades. Oh... and the color of tiles for choosing your perks.. uggg.. Should be MUCH more clear what IS already chosen, what is choosable, and what is locked. Currently, they are all slightly different shades of grey. Go with Brass for learned, steel for available, and rusted steel for locked... or something. Small nitpick, but I find it frustrating. Love the game, though. I'm about half way to D-Day. I think my team is maxed, but I would love another leader. I only have the one. Is the Ausie allowed to wear British gear? i keep recruiting britts and french, as I already have the clothing to spare.

Wow, after aliens dark descent and jagged alliance 3 last year, and now France 44 this year, it really looks like a resurgence in the genre. Not even 12 months apart for 3 bangers, we're being spoiled

It really looks great, but the no pema death is leaving me a little ceptical about buying it.

What ruins the game, is this progressive day counter for D-day, it seems to me that you have to do everything quickly, without being able to enjoy the game!

No to the music! Please!! I had to top listening - too grating. Ahg

3D looks really bad.Why dont they use just 2D beautiful , hand drawn graphics with great art style like in Commandos 1,2.If you are indiee developer , and dont have enough budget ,or bad art style developers departmet with heart , and cant make a good looking 3D game , then use 2D graphics ,sprites. I think Jagged Alliance is the best looking 3D tactical Xcom like game , and you see the budget.

Looks worse than Silent Storm.
