Xbox owner here. I'm with Max on this, games like Grounded and Sea of Thieves, and even eventually State of Decay 2 are games that have been around for a while and 100% could use an influx of new players, especially if they could be cross-platform. Grounded is an amazing game and everyone should have the opportunity to give it a go.

Definitely exposed more of the lack of accountability in video games journalism

Gaming channels that consider themselves journalists need to stop reporting on rumors. They have channels for that already that are almost never right. Dont be like them if you want to be taken seriously.

Some Games used to be $60-$90 back in the snes and n64 days. Games were $50 for generations and $60 for generations. But AAA games are taking more resources, more time, more everything to make and yet cost the same. You’re telling me that a game like Baulders Gate 3 should cost the same as Tetrisphere? Games that you play for hundreds of hours vs 4 hrs back 20+ yrs ago? Games probably should vary depending on average completion time really but some games are too small for $70 and others are too big for $40

Here’s what they’re not saying on this video: Not YET. It’s not a big deal yet. It’s starts small with 4 old games. But once you open the door a crack, you keep pushing and pushing until it swings wide open. First get the community used to the idea of it, then you say “guys, we’re turning into sega and publishing only, by the way the next console is a digital only game pass focused machine”

We are in it's 4th calendar year. Can we stop calling it next gen when it's literally midway through as current gen?

Guess what? There are new consoles coming within a year. Piss off about the naming convention. Ign barely has successful shows as it is, imagine changing the name this far in.

The messaging on this was closer to putting out the fire right now but not addressing the core issue. It's just going to keep happening with the "wait and see" approach. Ryan is on point about the messaging stuff. But it's fair to point out that Phil didn't rule out Indiana Jones on PS5. Only that there are no plans right now.

Things being blown out of proportion as usual. The gaming community is full of drama queens. Here is how the cycle goes: 1. Hear a rumour 2. Suddenly becomes a gaming crisis or the worst point in history. 3. Everyone realises it was actually nothing all this time. 4. Phase of moaning is over and everyone goes back to playing their games. 5. Repeat

There's no point in buying another next-gen console. Since I'm happy with the Xbox Series X and PS5?

On PlayStation we have had Psychonauts 2 and High On Life. So more games from the XBox system is cool. I'm not sure what has changed though? New news on the game showcase/ hardware is cool though.

As a PS5 owner I'd probably pick up Pentiment and/or Hi-Fi Rush

Sony has a contract for the current rights to spiderman for video games. They own the rights to the games currently on PlayStation and Disney can't ever publish those titles on other platforms without sonys permission at the very least.

Can't believe after all these years we still see outlets as big as IGN getting this wrong. Sony as a company doesn't own Spider-Man - Sony Pictures have the rights to Spider-Man movies. Marvel owns the character of Spider-Man and they allowed Insomniac games to make the Spider-Man games. Sony Interactive Entertainment owns Insomniac, and so they own those games. You still see Spider-Man the character pop up in other games like Lego Marvel, Ultimate Alliance etc (unless Sony throws a bunch of money at it like they did for the Crystal Dynamics Avengers game)

They could probably get 2-3 million out of it. Probably more in the long run. The port would be worth it and it wouldn't damage the brand to make the first game and Miles Morales multi platform.

Very curious they scripted that podcast so closely and they said no Starfield or Indiana, but they didn’t say anything explicitly either way about other hallowed Xbox classic franchises like Halo, Gears, etc.

Sony owns Spider-Man’s movie rights, insomniac has a license for the games not Sony. Disney owns the rights for the games if I’m not mistaken. Sony owns insomniac but if they didn’t anymore insomniac would still have the licensing. Not 100 percent sure though

The funny thing is that this is small news. They basicly teased 2 new consoles. Or at least one. They said new hardware announment in the holiday season and they mentioned that the next generation leap will be the biggest. Also we don't know if the hardware will come out in the holiday season or if it will just be announced. They never said what games are coming to other platforms. Also they never said playstation. So everything's still up in the air.

Honestly; you lot are the only reason Microsoft and Xbox needed to come out and put on anything resembling a show about this. All of the sites, blogs & KZreadrs/streamers took A few out of context remarks, that were interpreted in bad faith and also relied on poorly sourced stories for clicks and you created a storm around relatively nothing.

Everything that was rumoured is planned to happen, but Xbox are just telling their fan base what they want to hear so that they don’t freak out. And if you don’t think that then you’re gullible AF!

They think they're saving face by blaming Microsoft for messaging when they, in the same breath of the conversation, say that the messaging is "a nature of the postion." Sony doesn't have this problem because they don't care. And not only do they not care, but due to their regulations, they don't have to care. People love to say, "If you think these companies (I'm speaking about Microsoft)care, you're wrong." Well, THEIR WRONG WITH THAT STATEMENT! Microsoft cares because Regulations affect their bottom line. That's why they didn't just close ABK as soon as it was available.

@2:43 ...which is no different than what sony has been already been doing for the PC community with some of it's former exclusive titles; xbox fans really are kind of being blind to the fact that outside of early access for PS consoles on some titles, xbox users have been eating off a silver spoon of content and support imo compared to say sony has been for the PS community

one solution to the cost of development is to cut out the features nobody wants or asked for. the real problem is a lot of effort goes into making beautiful looking games that are not fun to play.

Let’s decrease the scale of games instead of introducing the idea of charging more.

It makes sense HiFi rush will be released on the Playstation. XBox has a very small market in Japan. But they have a Japanese studio. In order to maximize sales in Japan of a game they know will do well in Japan. It has to be released on the Japanese consoles.

Xbox is not in a bad place at all. Not nearly like toxic fan boys seem to think. Just becaue they are firmly in 3rd place, doesn't mean they aren't successful. Everyone acts like the Genesis was this behemoth on the market. It was for a couple years, but it still only sold around 45 million. Xbox One sold close to 60 million and the Series X/S is likely approaching 30 million. The WiiU and Dreamcast didn't even sell 15 million. So, yah. Not doom and gloom at all.
