to my mind Xavi's uniqueness is what makes the difference... I've never seen in my life a midfielder controlling entire games the way Xavi did. Modric is the closest from that Real trio, to what Xavi was able to achieve... Xavi is without a doubt the most underrated player in the last 20 years, this guy was the key for a national team that won 2 eurocups and one world cup, and of course all the success Barcelona got from 2009 on

Kroos controls the games just as good. Xavi even called Kroos his successor. Kroos dictates the game how he wants to. The team plays by his tempo and because of his key role we’ve won 4 CL & he helped Germany win a World Cup. He was key. That’s his role and always stays calm off the ball. Never tense never hesitate. Always cold headed

I was also hoping to see, besides an opinión, some data, statistics, numbers..... Because the style, that Is something people may differ ... I mean, Tiki Taka style Is not something Many people enjoy watching.... But the IMPACT on the team ... The final objectives .... That's unquestionable.

Madrid fan here. Xavi has the edge over Kroos. I believe Xavi is the greatest playmaker/controller ever and what separates him from the rest in his position is skill and flair on the ball and off the ball movement - the latter being often overlooked. Xavi is quite dangerous in the box and is one of barcas highest scoring midfielders in history, having scored more than even Iniesta. I believe he has better vision than the likes of Kroos and Pirlo as well. Next we have Modric and Iniesta and this is the closest. For me it’s even. Both did tremendous work at the club and international level. Both are exceptionally good dribblers and passers. Iniesta has the edge offensively as he’s the better dribbler, but Modric has the edge defensively as he’s better at tackling, work rate, and making interceptions. Iniesta has more clutch moments like the goal against Chelsea or the WC final goal, but Modric has better longevity. For me this is even, but Iniesta has the greater legacy for the WC final winner. Next is Busquets vs. Casemiro and this is the easiest choice for me. While Busquets is exceptional on the ball and better in tight spaces and in resisting pressure than Casemiro, Casemiro is simply superior in every defensive facet - from heading to shoulder-to-shoulder challenges, tackling, workrate, athleticism, blocking, intercepting. Just everything. One could say Busquets is the superior footballer, but Casemiro is quite obviously the better CDM. And Busquets has gotten exposed a whole lot since Iniesta and Xavi left, particularly in UCL against fast and athletic sides.

Because like I said he’s clear in the defensive arts. Busquets, while he’s good on the ball compared to practically every other DM in history, ultimately falls short as a defender. Would Casemiro be overrun so easily against a team like Eintracht Frankfurt? I feel Busquets is ideal for teams with a lot of possession because he’s excellent in building from the back. But he can’t defend that well. That’s why he’s fallen off since Barca’s overall midfield declined.
