Xantrex XPower Powerpack 1500 Review by Patty Hahne

Patty Hahne, prepper and author reviewed the Xantrex Powerpack 1500 few weeks ago. For complete story, go to preppersillustrated.com/.
Here's the first paragraph from her article.
Several weeks ago I was doing some thinking about how prepping must be different for people who live in places like apartments. I have to admit that I tend to focus on prepping from my own perspective. I live in a rural area where there is plenty of water, firewood, wild game, and fish. We also have emergency backup generators in the event of a power outage.

The batteries go bad quickly. I replaced them with the proper spec 3rd party battery since the xantrex replacements are way too expensive. This was 6 or 7 years ago, and it was fine for a time. Now it looks like the inverter is bad. The unit shows full charge, but when a small load (surface computer) is plugged in, it immediately faults out. Now, this unit is 12 years old so maybe it doesn't owe me anything, but it wasn't used heavily at all (2 or 3 day camping trip once a year). I would expect more for what I paid. My next battery backup will certainly not be from xantrex. However, if they sent me a brand new one, I'd be happy to post a positive review like Patty did here. ;-)

Hi Michael, we're sorry to hear about what happened with your inverter and battery backup. It sounds like you got several years of use out of the inverter before it started to have problems. While 12 years is a long time for any electronic device, it's understandable to expect it to last longer if it wasn't used heavily. Have you tried contacting our support line or visiting an authorized service center to see if there's anything that can be done to fix the inverter? xantrex.com/support/get-customer-support/ xantrex.com/find-a-dealer/ (select authorized service center)

Can you plug in a powerstrip so that you have more than 2 plugs ?

we believe there are already 2 plugs on the unit. We don't recommend running too many electronics at the same time otherwise you risk running out of power very soon.
