Xabi Alonso joined FC Bayern in August 2014. Following incredibly successful years at Real Sociedad, FC Liverpool and Real Madrid, Xabi finishes his professional football career at FC Bayern at the end of the 2016/17 season.
We bid our farewell to a player who has given everything on and off the pitch and who now calls time on an extraordinary career. Thank you Xabi!

Why doesn't Real Madrid treat their players like this? Is it that hard....? Watching the departure of Casillas brought me to tears, the way he was treated after spending 20 years at that club was nothing like anybody would have expected from a club like Real. Huge props to Munchen for doing this. Thanks!

Selbst ich als BVB Fan muss sagen, dass xabi alonso ein unfassbarer Spieler ist und wirklich sich bis zum Schluss auf Weltklasse Niveau aufgehalten hat.
Somehow, I can imagine Alonso becoming a coach. The players look up to him, he got the charisma and leadership, he's also a motivator... :D

Very few players can claim to have legend status at three of the biggest clubs in the world. Liverpool, R. Madrid and Bayern, no less. And in every one of them he's won major trophies, and in every one of them he's been a key member of the squad, and in every one of them the fans, coaches, teammates, staff remember him very dearly. Plus, he's also a R. Sociedad legend, and not to talk about his incredible career at country level. Truly one of the all time greats.
What an amazing video! Really moving and hats off to you Xabi. You're a legend of the modern game and you have been such an inspiration! What a wonderful career you have had always smiling till the end! :D

one morning in 2009 i was having breakfast before going to school while watching news about xabi's move to real madrid, as a liverpool fan it made me sad for a whole month. i still think it was Benitez's fault. i really thought he would spend his career in Liverpool until he became at least 31 years old. he's definitely one of my favorite players who ever played for liverpool, his retirement is indeed a great loss for FC Bayern for what he still can do if he still played for Bayern now. thank you, Xabi for the Liverpool years YNWA
