Would rather see a custom Linux than Android, honestly. Although Android at least has a well designed mobile UI right out of the box.

@@guardianbeardizer6361 I ended up getting the powkiddy x18s and I gotta say I'm glad I did over the 3+. It's an amazing android handheld with decent chip set perfect set up for ts button mapping.

Scored one of these at a bin store. $14. Awesome little item, I hope it can handle other controllers and HDMI without tanking. Take it on the road, or hang it off my retro arcade controller box. Very easy retro arcade build for a non-techie.

The X series have come along way 🙏🏽👍🏾

One day one of these will be good, The HDMI port out is a must and I can’t believe they have it on an item in the $60 range this one actually does seem way above average. The link works too 🏆💫 Can you use an external controller for player one or do you have to only use the system?

wish there screens didn't have dead pixels also, but at least it seems like they are starting to move forward

Guess I was lucky I have 8 diff Chinese emulators not one dead pixel.

Better than PowKiddy X70. Still, if you want a more rounded up product, one must lighten up his wallet more than this.

Looks they were on the right track with a few features on this one but then gave up mid way through and thought "meh, this will do lets release as it is" 😁. To bad. Its mainly the set up/ performance that lets this one down.

This is a little step up for the x series

Only 65 million years in the making to get something almost there. It is certainly light years on from so much crap that has been produced in this budget area. Agree about swapping the D Pad and stick. Whilst there seems no way to make changes to adjust audio for MAME etc, I suspect that this could become a very popular item, which may then draw the attention of developers who might look to see if it possible to create modified firmware to get the best out of it. The rise in gaming handhelds and the quality required to keep business's alive will ensure that these low end devices having to finally improve in order to maintain any interest at all.

Great review. I have a question about an other retro console. The Mini SNES clone from Ali that is a One to One copy. Did you ever open it up? There is a hidden SD card slot on the board.

Hey, Wicked - this is the second video I've seen where you've had trouble with the search, and I'm wondering if the problem might be that the search is case-specific - see, you always search "sonic" and I wonder if searching "Sonic" with the S capitalized might return better results? Even if so, that's not great, but it would at least get around the problem.

I feel like the hdmi cable kind of hinders the comfort-ability with these devices. I wish those usb ports allowed wireless controller dongles. I mean a regular wired controller would be better than holding the handheld itself but I'm guessing the compatibility of what usb controllers you can actually use with it is limited. I doubt it supports all the various types of wired controllers but I can't say since I don't have this model. If I knew you could run a wireless controller through the usb I would probably buy one. Do you happen to know if you have to buy specific usb wired controller for this model? Would love to know since it seems like the ideal way to play it on the big display.

I've seen much worse x series devices, good build quality, nice display but sadly the emulation is not perfect for every single system...

After buying the x39, I prefer to never buy another handheld without open software. There are many problems you just can't fix.

Thank you a lot for this video, I think I will buy one. Cheap and power. Except the small controller. And I think I will download and add more games. Thank you. ❤ Edit: I can not see the 3.5 audio jack or bluetooth to connect handset. I will read more from internet.

The problem with all of these devices is always going to be the locked down OS, the stolen emulators are there for good unless it gets some community attention and with the proliferation of more open devices the interest isn't really there. These handhelds aren't made by people who are interested in using them. Even going back to the Dingoo A320 days that device was only good because it was hacked to run Dingux/OD and the stock OS emulators were replaced with the Lion_rsm ones. The X series handhelds are like stepping back in time.

So tiny buttons seems difficult for big hands

I wonder since this thing comes with an SD card - can't you just chuck it in a Card--Reader and rename the files correctly on PC?

some of the reasons I ain't getting one of those powkiddy X-series is the battery replacement is being a little impossible because you can't find it easily to purchase, any problems with the battery you almost done with and have to buy another one or save your money to purchase something better

Looks ok but it says 128mb ram on the specs so you can't get even the easiest to emulate n64 games to run (correct me if I am wrong here) Couldn't find any custom firmwares for this either. And it's competing on the same price and same screen size with the ps5000 which you can run batocera on and has 512mb ram and an oled screen. So to me it just doesn't look worth it because of the competition. (even for those not willing to pay double for a retroid 2+) What's your opinion here? does this have any relative advantage over the ps5000?

I believe the PS5000 has 256mb ram. And the X51 has a diff aspect ratio screen, 5:3 I think whereas the PS5000 is 16:9. Not sure on the cpu on this one but if you cant install any custom firmware then you are stuck with whatever emulators and performance it has. Although I like the aspect ratio on this one Id defo take the PS5000 cause at least you can use Batocera on that making it sooooo much better.

@@fonzitheman It says 256mb on the box but you can look at the specs in retroarch and it will say 512, it's like the one time the random lying about specs is actually in your favor. The important thing here is that games like mario kart and mario 64 work good on it where they don't on ps7000 which really does have 256mb. (running batocera 35 beta, never tested with previous versions)

@@blueplayer6197 Ah yes, I believe you are correct on the PS5000 actually having 512MB RAM 👍 I actually ordered myself a black PS7000 (should arrive soon) only because I can use Batocera on it, and I love larger screens. I have a 5" screen handheld, the Powkiddy RGB10 Max so defo dont need the PS5000. Also to bad the PS7000 doesnt have an IPS screen would have been so much better, but hey, for its cheap price Batocera should make it a decent buy. I would never have touched one otherwise 😊

Sadly no. This software is so limiting.

I received my x51 today. I noticed you must insert 2 usb controllers to enable second player. Otherwise inserting one controller will only allow you to play as first player. The other dealbreaker is some games that have 6 buttons to play, the system only allowed 4 buttons to play with. For example, classic Street Fighter 2 uses six buttons total; 3-punches, 3-kicks. Well, the system only gives you 4 buttons total. I’m sending it back for a refund.

How many consoles do you now own and where do you store them all? Id love to own this many however think I would be divorced by now
