X-Sense SC07 Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector Review

The previous owners hardwired smoke detectors throughout the property, but they installed two cheapo carbon monoxide detectors in the living and dining room where we have our two fireplaces, and fuel burning devices can be responsible for potential carbon monoxide threats. So we were really keen to upgrade these units to X-Sense SC07 combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

You are correct, there are requirements to have detectors wired-in for example if you are renting out a property. I like your idea that you can take one with you as a peace of mind thing as it is not just houses but motorhomes, caravans etc that could potentially have carbon monoxide issues.

Thanks for clarifying that point Keith. I thought might be the case.

X sense also has wireless models that can connect to up to 24 units. I have six in my older home and they work great. Very loud!

In 10 years time, how do you get it off the ceiling?

It’ll come off really easily - we’ll just unscrew it and remove the plastic brackets. It should be a quick and simple exercise.

Mine did not react at all when held over a heavy smoke outdoors. X-sense justified it by a "strong air circulation" and "smoke not being enough". But say the windows are open in summer and wind ensures strong air circulation, what happens? I don't trust the product, the end.
