X-PLANE 11 ILS APPROACH TUTORIAL

Ойындар

ILS or Instrument landing system is another tool you can use in your simulator for your final approach. While not hard, ILS can be tricky to get your head around the first few times and in this tutorial I show you a couple of ways to get ready for the approach then execute it. ILS isn't an autoland feature but you can get to within a few hundred feet of the runway on autopilot for a great landing every time. Like all things in life, practice makes perfect so I use it a lot to prepare for when I want to mix things up with real world weather. Approaches and landings are so much more difficult with wind, rain, snow and other sundry nastiness thrown in and ILS gets you down safely in those conditions.

Wow! What a great tutorial. You did a great job of describing the use of ILS. I hated to see the video end. I hope you do more basic tutorials covering all of the avionics of the Cessna 172. In addition to the steam gages, the Garmin 503 is definitely worth investigation. I like your use of graphic pointers to highlight points of interest. Well done!!!

Really Great tutorial here, I've been Bush flying Xplane 11 for the past 5 years all over Alaska, BC, North America, Papua New Guinea, and anywhere else that landing small Stol Aircraft is challenging, but I have never tried to land using an ILS approach at a regular Airport LOL, but after watching your tutorial I’m gona give it a try. Thanks for a really understandable explanation of how to land using ILS in Xplane 11.!

Hello, I totally agree with Stev A. For people who are learning, it is much more interesting of viewing from within the cockpit than the outside. So we can see what the various needles are doing, what buttons you press, wich changes you make etc. If you want to let us see how the landing is going, do that in a separate Replay on the end of the video. But otherwise, you make very good, very clear videos who are very usefull for apprentice simmers, good job and thanks for sharing. Kind Regards from Holland

Thanks for the demo! One miss, though: strictly speaking, max speed for extending flaps is 85 kts, or the "fast" end of the white arc, not 100+, out of the white arc.

Exactly. I’d add that when talking about frequency you must say “one one zero point seven” or “one one zero decimal seven zero”.

THis is a nice vid, very simple to follow and easy to learn. However, the decision to show the landing from outside the cockpit is counter intuitive and a horrible choice for pilots wanting to see when you take back over the aircraft from the pilots perspective. So that was very disappointing. But the rest of the vid was good enough to get a thumbs up.

I think he just showed that on a replay. During his actual landing I assume he was in the cockpit.

You didn't show how to insert ILS Ferequancy in NAV or GPS, that is the Key and important part of setting ILS, somehow you forgot or... whatever. that will be a valuable tutorial when you explain everything.
