    Nice tutorial. I love the -300's. At around 13:30, you mentioned that Southwest Airlines does not turn on the fuel pumps/APU. The FO actually has to turn on the Left AFT pump at least, but they don't have to start the APU. Once all the fuel is onboard the aircraft, the captain will turn on all the required fuel pumps. Usually, the CA will bring on ALL the pumps of the tanks with fuel in them and go hydraulics A’s off B’s on. Anyway, great tutorial.

    I have one question .....there is 2 "course" knobs ,that you initially set to yr take -off runway heading ....and use for runway IlS approach heading....... I never understood, what this function actually does.Can you help?

  • @CaptainKMan

    @CaptainKMan

    7 жыл бұрын

    That's all they are for, to set for ILS approaches and to help you get the Localizer needle lined up properly and to remind you of important directions you need to fly. For takeoff we set them for the departure runway heading just so we are doubly sure we know which way we are going when we depart until we make our first turn. For the approach they are used to tell the Autopilot that this is the final approach course for the runway and it uses that in conjunction with the ILS localizer beam to get your aircraft centered on the runway. As you get into the glide envelope for the runway then the glidescope ball comes down and once it is centered (or just before) you turn on APP mode on the MCP and the aircraft will literally land itself, descending to the runway. This is not typically done. Most pilots will turn off the autopilot once they are 1000 feet above the terrain. If you had the course knobs set wrong the aircraft would never be able capture the Localizer beam or worse, it would lock on to the wrong runway or heading, and you'd never get lined up with the runway you want to land on while on Autopilot. The course knobs are also used during flight occasionally to help you remember radials at VOR stations that are important for your flight. Some visual approaches use VOR station radials to help the pilot turn properly for a visual approach.

    Hi Captain! Nice video and thanks for that one 😉 really helpful. One question tho: I thought that in the US, one does not need to ask for pushback and start on non movement area so basically if the pushback does not stop on an active taxiway. Could you clarify that point for us please? Thanks so much

    Depends on what kind of flying you are looking to do. Are you doing Bush Flying? GA props? Airliners? There are two payware add-ons you will want regardless; xEnviro for the weather engine and XPRealisiticPRO for pilot/aircraft sounds and psychics. I would invest in large fast hard drives too and at some point start learning how to use Ortho4XP, a free tool that allows you to transformer X-Plane's default 'fake' world into the real world under your aircraft.

    Ahhhhh! Airline pilot! My thing! I don't do much prop flying at all. I am all about heavy iron. The IXEG 737 is an excellent choice. It is perhaps the most complete and comprehensive aircraft available for X-Plane. The new Flightfactor A320 has the bar even higher and other aircraft like the 757 Pro are exceptionally well simulated but the 737-300 is my baby. I wish PMDG would get off their asses and port it over. The gave us a nice DC-6 prop liner as a test to see if they could do it. They did it. Now.. transfer over the 600/700/800/900ER already! Until then, the Zibo Modded default 737-800 is pretty damn impressive and is approaching PMDG quality. I would look into it. You can find the main thread for the ZIBO mode in the X-Plane 11 General forums at the very top as a sticky. All the links to what mods are needed and other add-ons such as the kick ass audioXP sound pack can be found there.

    Captain K-Man Just subscribed. Thanks so much for answering my questions. Just bought the plane. With pilot2atc, does it tie in with the default atc or you not using default and just that. I’m really confused on my end. I’m using the United airlines livery with mine but the default callsign cant be change can it? So will pilot2atc be its own??

  • @CaptainKMan

    @CaptainKMan

    6 жыл бұрын

    Pilot2ATC is a stand-alone ATC package. It ignores X-Plane ATC. You will setup your flights in the Pilot2ATC flight route setup and define the airline and flight number for the flight. It will call you by that callsign and flight number for the duration of the flight. X-Plane's ATC is garbage, hot steamy garbage that isn't going to get the kind of improvement it needs anytime soon. Pilot2ATC is just an amazing piece of software for offline ATC needs.
