星が煌めく街に生まれ育った小学生の《香織》は、課外授業で訪れた天文台で、満天の星空に心を奪われる。
それは、《香織》の中に一つの夢が生まれた瞬間でもあった。
夢を叶えることは簡単ではない。
きっと人は、誰しも葛藤を抱えながら生きている。
冷たい現実に涙する高校生の《香織》。
しかし、そんな彼女を支えたのは、他でもない、かつての自分自身だった。
星の光が、長い時間をかけて届くように。
花火の光が、懐かしい記憶を思い出させるように。
未来への輝きを秘めた少年少女たちは、強い想いに連れられ、また歩き始める。

『一番近くて遠い星』
自らの夢の実現に向けた一歩として、志望校合格をめざす受験生を描く短編アニメーション。本作の主人公は、Ｚ会を利用して学習する天文部に所属の高校生《香織》。夢を叶えるために不安を乗り越えて力強く前を向く姿を、岩男潤子が歌う「ここにいるよ」の歌詞に乗せて届けます。監督を務めるのは、イラストレーターとして活躍するloundraw（ラウンドロー）。
映画『サマーゴースト』とのコラボレーション
『一番近くて遠い星』は、loundraw初監督映画作品『サマーゴースト』の世界に存在する、もうひとつの物語。
「様々な悩みや葛藤を抱えながら今を生きる若者たちへ、彼らを励まし応援するメッセージとなる映像を制作して欲しい」というＺ会の思いから、今回のコンセプトムービーが誕生しました。この２作品には、不確かな未来に向き合うすべての人達へ向けて“光が照らす未来へ、世界はつながっている”という共通のメッセージが込められています。

イラストレーターとして10代のうちに商業デビュー。2019年1月アニメーションスタジオ《FLAT STUDIO》を設立。透明感、空気感のある色彩と、被写界深度を用いた緻密な空間設計を魅力とし、様々な作品の装画を担当する。2017年7月、監督・脚本・演出・レイアウト・原画・動画・背景と制作のすべてを手がけ、声優・下野紘、雨宮天らが参加した卒業制作オリジナルアニメーション『夢が覚めるまで』がバイラルヒット、同年9月には自身初の個展『夜明けより前の君へ』を開催するほか、小説『イミテーションと極彩色のグレー』、漫画『あおぞらとくもりぞら』の執筆、音楽アート集団・CHRONICLEでの音楽活動など多岐にわたる。2020年6月、短編アニメーション映画をゴールとするメディア横断型企画《PROJECT COMMON》が始動した。

The synopsis of the story in English: Kaori, an elementary school student who was born and raised in a city where the stars sparkle, is captivated by the starry sky when she visits an astronomical observatory for extracurricular class. That was also the moment when a dream was born within Kaori. Making dreams come true is not easy. I'm sure all people live their lives with conflicts. Kaori, a high school student, cries at the cold reality. However, the person who supported her was none other than herself, her former self. Just like starlight takes a long time to reach you. The light from the fireworks reminded her of fond memories. Boys and girls who have hidden brightness for the future start walking again, guided by strong feelings. ◇◆About the concept movie “The Nearest and Farthest Star”◆◇ "The closest and farthest star" A short animation depicting a student who aims to get into the school of his choice as a step toward realizing his dream. The main character of this work is Kaori, a high school student who belongs to the astronomy club and studies through the Z-kai. The lyrics of Junko Iwao's ``Kokore Iruyo'' are used to convey the image of her overcoming her fears and facing forward with strength in order to make her dreams come true. The director is loundraw, who is active as an illustrator.

It is said that fireworks can calm the souls of the dead. For Tomoya Sugisaki, Aoi Harukawa, and Ryou Kobayashi, fireworks are what allowed them to meet the "Summer Ghost." Z-KAI is a company dedicated to organizing college entrance exams all over Japan, these are commercials/short films to promote and encourage high school students to prepare and apply for the national selection exam.
I'm happy to see such an underrated movie be seen!

I have no idea what they're saying but as someone who grew up obsessed with the stars, something about this felt so familiar ❤ I feel like I understood without having to understand the language. The animators did an astounding job of telling the story through visuals if one can follow along without proper translation ❤❤

what is this video about? all i can tell is that a girl wants to follow her passion (star charter? astronomer?) but then becomes too absorbed by her passion, that she neglects other things like her friends and studies. she then trades off her dream so she could continue on in life, school, etc. (using auto-translate for this) it seems however, that after that busy event in her life, she is able to reconnect with her younger self in the end. and once again feels the drive to pursue her dream! she said "i took a detour, but in the end i made it" or something along those lines. "i want to find a new star" am i off?
