Is this scene from the movie set in Tibet?

One of the reasons I'll always prefer this film over anything in the MCU is just how serious the characters treat the situation. If this was an MCU film there would be random unnecessary quips sprinkled throughout to break the tension, but here there's not a single joke, because realistically no one would be joking at a time like this. DOFP, specifically the Rogue Cut, is easily one of my favourite comic book films. It's up there with Spider-Man 2, Logan & Watchmen for me.

The director of this movie was bryan singer, the same director of the original x man movies. You can see he has always had a good vision for the characters. And he is gay, at least in my opinion when it comes to the x man this can actually be meaningful.

They probably meant because there's a large and deliberate parallel drawn between mutants in thw xmen universe and minorities - specifically gays. That there is prevalent in a lot of material so being able to translate that feeling of isolation and prejudice to "fighting for your livelihood" is one of Singer's strengths as director for these films

Except this makes no sense. Because Iceman is immortal. They could never kill him or even Darwin if he was in this movie. Same with Phoenix and Scarlet Witch. Of course you made the sentinels so scary because you left out some of the strongest mutants ever. Sentinels can adapt but doesn't mean they can kill Immortals. Also these Sentinels are nothing like the Comic Book sentinels. And we still need to see a Comic Book Sentinel eventually.

@@gbeach85 Anything that veers from canon is no longer canon. Iceman is immortal. Everyone knows it. Iceman can't die. And this isn't the early X-Men movies when Iceman is still a teenager. This is the Future where he's way more advanced in his abilities. Therefore he should be immortal by this point. But hey just keep disregarding mutant power creep as they get older and disregard all their abilities that said mutant can do.

Just semantics. I feel like you think the hundreds of varying storylines and comic books are just suppose to blend their lore into the movies. They didn’t do that. You’re just fan fictioning the result you want when things like his Omega level and his true powers weren’t even looked at by the writers, producers and directors. So, that version of ice man is just a slightly more powerful dude, but now with a beard. 🤷🏻‍♂️ The movies absolutely disrespected the source material with his character. Same with Rogue. Such an intense film. The desperation you feel in the cinema thinking are they going to make it knowing that every mistake in the past costs just as much as a loss of life in the future. The two inextricably linked. A masterpiece of cinema.

Magneto wouldn’t have been much help. The Sentinels aren’t metallic, so he can’t affect them. Maybe he could throw parts of the temple at them, but that leaves Xavier and Logan unprotected.

This is easily the best comic book movie I've ever seen....

I’ll never forget the first time I watched in theaters back in 2014. I remember literally gasping when the Sentinel came and took out Storm. Seeing all of the members get killed in gruesome ways was very overwhelming for me as child. It truly was a cinematic experience for me. People can trash the X Men movie series, it’s understandable, but I truly believe DOFP is one of the best ones from the series. Especially the Rogue Cut since it adds more in my opinion.

Man X-men was at its peak with this movie, I loved the intro first scene of the movie such a good way to start. If we ever get to see X-men again I hope we get to see this level

First class is overrated. Idk why it got the hype it did. It was good, dont get me wrong. But Days Of Future Past is sooooo much better. Best Xmen movie in my book.

What I like about the fights between the mutants and future sentinels is this: Everyone makes an important contribution in some way. Here is what I mean: 1. Warpath- Due to his power of enhanced senses, he is able to spot the sentinels from miles away which gives the X-Men time to prepare. In an earlier fight, he does the same thing but also distracts a sentinel long enough for Colossus to get up from a hit, plus he buys Kitty and Bishop a few extra seconds by attacking a sentinel in their way and then taking a fatal blast from 3 sentinels. 2. Storm- She is able to destroy 2 carriers which in turn takes out dozens of sentinels. She also gives Bishop enough energy to fight against the sentinels for as long as possible, and with Magneto’s aid, took out the majority of the sentinels with the Black Bird explosion. 3. Blink- First, she uses her power to give Bishop a line of sight to knock the sentinels out of the sky. Then, in the theatrical cut, she creates a portal for the mortally wounded Magneto to flee from the battlefield. She also uses her portal to give Colossus the opportunity to get a good hit on a sentinel. In her last moments, she is able to stall the sentinels rather impressively by redirecting their blasts with her portals. Also, in an earlier scene, her powers are vital for giving Warpath and Iceman opportunities to attack the sentinels. 4. Bishop- In this scene, he is able to knock quite a few sentinels out of the sky and then he sacrifices himself by exploding which knocks three sentinels back. Also, he is vital for protecting Kitty in the opening and has been stated to always be the one who warns the mutants in the past of impending sentinel attacks. 5. Magneto- He not only destroys most of the sentinels with help from Storm but also helps create a barricade with parts from the Black Bird which helps to buy time Kitty (theatrical cut)/Rogue (Rogue cut) and Wolverine. 6. Shadow Cat (Rogue cut)- She ultimately saves Magneto from being killed by the sentinels by pulling him in. She also has always been the one to save the X-Men by sending Bishop into the past. 7. Sunspot- After Bishop dies, he grows on a rampage and knocks multiple sentinels down and distracts a sentinel long enough for Colossus to get up and continue fighting. In the opening, he also stalls a sentinel for a few minutes with his power. 8. Colossus- With help from Blink, he is able to knock a sentinel back that was attempting to breach the barrier Magneto had created which in turn bought Kitty/Rogue and Wolverine enough time to complete the mission. 9. Iceman- Iceman in the finale is able to stall the sentinels by strengthening the barrier Magneto created with the use of his ice powers. In an earlier part of the movie, he also briefly freezes a sentinel that was chasing Kitty and Bishop. This type of team effort is ultimately one of the charms of X-Men. Having so many characters in a film can make it tough when trying to have every character be relevant, so props to Bryan Singer.

They specifically had to remove Jean Grey/Phoenix force from this timeline otherwise she would've solo'd all of them. Surely they can't adapt to being disintegrated at the molecular level

Seeing Storm get killed hurt my soul.

The whole movie was really good, however the introduction battle scene was the best part of the movie. It’s amazing to see the X Men team fighting together including Magneto in the same side. I wish they made more X Men movies exploring the apocalyptic event of mutants being hunt down by the sentinels.

My favorite xmen film by far but man, they really took Magneto and made him act weird to keep the sentinels strong. Literally the BEST X-Men movie ever made..., so good!

Storm blasting X-Men's iconic jet Bishop blasting himself at the last second taking 3 sentinels with him Magneto locking the door BEHIND him, while bleeding Other guys keeping their composure and pulling Magneto back in while keeping up fighting. They gave up everything they had.

Magneto barricading the door is my favorite part. He realizes the fight is lost and all he can do is buy as much time as possible.

Best vfx of 2014, along side "Guardians Of The Galaxy".

I have always felt they should have made DofP with two films. The first film is set in the future and shows how Kitty gets her ability, we get to see more of the mutants in the future, how Xavier knows what to do to change the timeline, etc.

This was so epic!!!!! This was probably the best we've seen the X-men in action in a Live action movie. ❤

@@NicholasPeters1 The Rogue Cut was the unreleased version and it was more dramatic cause the remaining X-Men from the future had to think of an alternative way in order for Logan to complete his mission in the past.

They're still human beings with binocular vision facing Sentinels that can evade Eric and Ororo's abilities to detect their materials or electrical fields. In most continuities, mutants also have the same level of fatigue, reflex, and emotion as a human being unless noted otherwise but there were a few where all of them had like somewhat increased strength and endurance or some crap to explain why the artists drew everyone super buff.

The power scaling is often changed in the movies for the sake of storytelling. It becomes real hard to take a story seriously when your characters are planetary level mutants. The Sentinels were not that much of a threat in the comics. But here? With the reduced power scaling? They are downright terrifying.

Well given all of these sentinels are the nimrod type rather than the usual type its understandable why they get overwhelmed.

The drumroll that kicks in as soon as Colossus jumps through that portal is too damn badass 2:43

Finally saw this film for the first time since 2014.. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years. It took me so long to watch because I didn’t want to relive storm’s death… That’s broke my heart as a Storm fan.

Fun fact: They've used one of Colossus super move referenced from Marvel vs Capcom 2 video game in this scene

One of the best things about this film is honestly how weak the X-men are compared to the Sentinels. Even more powerful characters are virtually helpless against these things and you wonder how they even survived for as long as they did.

If I remember rightly, very few X-Men died in the original comic. It seems so wrong that Storm is one of the only casualties. I'm glad that movie features so many X-Men getting their a**es handed to them by these Sentinel Xs

It almost looks as if Storm destroy three of the twelve carries with the Sentinels/Nimrods in them. Just as she did with blowing up their jet; same with Bishop shooting at them, and Magneto using pieces of metal destroying them.

This.... This is what an xmen fight should look like

The soundtrack building up to the ship explosion is fantastic.

It's kinda funny that the sentinel project immediately backfired. Once the sentinel realized normal humans can give birth to mutant, it was all chaos. They eventually took over the world and turned it into basically Matrix like world.

This what happens when people who make a movie knows exactly what the characters are because they were made by the character creators

I noticed now why Magneto got stabbed by the fragment. Looking at it, it was a piece of a Sentinel, which probably adapted to be resistant to his powers, hence why he couldn't stop it

@@LukeLovesRose Yes, because I was listing the three best. X-Men movies aren't either amazing, or god awful. The only truly awful ones, are Apocalypse, Dark Pheonix, and New Mutants. Well, Origins too, but I look more fondly upon that movie after Marvels recent blunders. It's amazing how a slog of bad movies can tilt a previously bad movie closer towards center, or average.

The Sentinels were able to adapt and counter Mutant abilities in an instant. The longer they fight, the stronger the Sentinels get. It was a losing battle from the beggining

Something I'm unclear about is Kitty rescuing Eric. She seems to be at full strength again, which would usually mean that Rouge's hold of her powers should be weakened. I'm not sure how she's still holding onto Logan.

I'm the main movie Blink opens a portal to let magneto in. But in this since Rouge was taking over from Kitty, Kitty was the one that pulled him in

In the Rogue cut, Rogue takes over from Kitty to keep Logan in the past. She phases Magneto through the door. In the theater cut, there’s no Rogue, so Blink opens a portal on the door and Magneto walks through it. The shot at the end where Bobby gets destroyed is the same shot from the Rogue Cut.

@@harlowethrombey7665 oh i didn't even realize this was a different cut from the one i saw. i had a fleeting moment of "wait why is rogue here" but assumed i just hadn't remembered what kitty looked like or something. Bizarre choice.

I love this movie... the sentinels are amazing and really creepy... and Magneto with X-men... so perfect

Literally my favorite movie. And the Rogue cut has lots of great extras. This scene is the ultimate one for me. Storm getting impaled is absolutely heartbreaking.

Halle Berry is so fckn amazing as Storm, single most badass X member.

My thoughts on the Prequel series is they could’ve done so much better as they wasted a large opportunity to join this MCU. Days of future past is still the best of them all, if any of the BIG Fish read this people make the X-men series not only make sense but are more in line with the Comics. -Please Be Original about bringing all of the groups together- Pretty Please

Bishop and storm looks good

Probably the best fight scene in the entire X-Men movie lineup. Except maybe for Logan.

Earlier, they've deployed 3 drones, but now, it is an army. That's how much powerful the newly arrived mutants are.

This needs "Omega threats detected"

This is such a ridiculously good film. Had no right being this good. Imagine the entire X-Men series being as consistent as this?

Sheesh, Bishop's death was fuckin brutal

Marvel Studios can easily make a better Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix movie, those Fox movies were meh, but good look if they try to make a better Days of Future Past movie, this is peak comicbook cinematography.

If this had been done correctly, Storm, Magneto and Bobby could have wrecked those Sentinels. Three of the most powerful Omega mutants getting washed like that will never sit well with me.

Same here! This scene could of been so much better! Storm could have done so much more. Like summon multiple tornadoes or use much more lightning. Same with bobby and Magneto. smh

Shaw would have been really helpful, whatever they thru at him he just throws back.

Storm takes too long to get to the point lol girl if you don’t hurry up and call that lightning ⚡️
