Film description: Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants, to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. He can manipulate the metallic fibers in his uniform with magnetic fields to make it nearly as durable as adamantium. He can manipulate human blood due to its iron content. The bloodstream in the average human body contains an amount of iron about equal to the weight of a penny. Very, very low volume in ppm. There aren't many coins that he's going to struggle to manipulate.

The scene and James' acting really show how amazing of a teacher Xavier is. He changes his style of communication for each student if you notice. He tries to make Havoc feel comfortable by concealing his testing facility. He engaged the interest of Banshee by coaxing him with the prospect of becoming stronger. He engaged in an intellectual and philosophical debate with Beast, and of course he plays on Erik's need for efficiency to calm his impatience.

Also the bullet is getting pushed by the gas so if he stops the bullet it would block the gas too. If Xavier shot Magneto at point blank, he's still get burns in his face from the exhaust. Might even ruin his eyesight. Not to mention that without hearing protection, you risk permanent hearing damage, especially if it's fired this close to your ears. Hopefully, all of that doesn't mess with his focus while he's trying to overcome the force of a fired bullet with his mind. Hopefully, the bullet being stuck in there doesn't make the gun explode either.

I think the scary thing about Charles shooting Eric is what if the Bullet is stopped too late. Do Charles have enough time to go inside Eric mind and stop the Bullet its putting too much faith into Eric to have control over his power in a split second.... I think this is what Charles is afraid of the most.

The truth is the beams the Summers brothers emit can impact stuff as strong enough as the story wants.

We can see that the best from Xavier wasn’t his ability to read people’s mind, but to dig deeper into people’s potentials to become their best version. Ironically this is the first big failure of Xavier’s arc when he failed Erik and losing him as a friend. But that is the best thing about X-Men itself, the duality between Xavier&Erik that makes the story still relevant and interesting.
