    I've spoken with your lawyer recently. She says that in lieu of trying to beat Cuphead fair and square--a feat she deemed as too challenging for you--you should play this game instead. Is this where it all ends? Has DarkLordJadow1 finally met his match and will forever submit defeat? Up vote this comment if you want to see him accept this challenge.

    Very surprised that you dislike the Legends and Ultimate Alliance games. Considering the vast amount of Easter eggs, playable characters and missions you go on in each game, I would have thought it would tickle your fancy. I get that they are button mashers at times but it was cool crafting four member teams where each character could utilize their own strengths (flight, super strength, team buffs, long range attacks, or if you’re Moon Knight, Insta-kill da boss). I’m not upset though and if you didn’t care for them personally or found them too boring, I understand that.

    I remember really liking the story of Legends 2, but I remember never ever having to change out members of my party past the first level (nor did I ever want to) and I remember the combat feeling repetitive. The easter eggs and huge cast are a lot of fun (especially now that I know who Deadpool and Iron Man are), but I just couldn't get into the core gameplay

    I feel like I’m the only person here who liked Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. It’s no masterpiece, but I enjoyed the gameplay well enough and loved the wide variety of playable characters. Although I will admit that I really don't like the story, especially in comparison to the other games in the series. To me it felt like nothing more than an excuse plot to give a reason for the characters to team up.

    @@matthewbraith0411 Yeah, I'll admit that the leveling in the game is too slow even with XP cubes, which can make it a problem that characters don't level up outside your party. If it was faster then I wouldn't have minded it as much. I think the game being a Switch exclusive kind of helped with the experience, though, as it's a kind of game I would like playing in short bursts on the go. Otherwise I can see why people would get tired of putting 100s of hours into it due to the sheer amount of grinding that's required to level up all the characters.

    X-Men Legends is beloved due to that it’s kinda what kicked off Ultimate Alliance. Oh and because the RPG style gameplay and the epic story modes are what make the games worth playing. Seriously I’m still playing Legends 2 and the story is dope. Also, I do recommend UA3 bud. Yeah, it’s a repetitive button masher. But it’s a true marvel universe game at heart and the story, as well as the immense marvel lore it has, is why I have a deep love for it.

    3:06 I'm having a problem understanding this logic. In your Godzilla ps4 review you were complaining the game was too close to the source material. But in the X-Men legends and MUA games you have a problem with power scaling and should have been closer to the source material. I feel there some contradictions here.

  • @youtube-kit9450

    @youtube-kit9450

    3 жыл бұрын

    My guess is that it isn't some dichotomy in which either completely adhering to source material or completely being away from the source material is the way to go, but it's a sweet spot you have to hit for every franchise in which playability and fun are the most important. Iirc, in Godzilla e.g. it was the problem that Godzilla being slow as molasses and lumbering around is how Godzilla was in the movie, but that translated into super sluggish bad gameplay. In the case of superheroes, nerfing superheroes down into oblivion to make them as strong as realistically way weaker superheroes also negatively impact playability and fun because you feel neutered af instead of feeling as powerful as a superhero in the comics. Basically, two cases of which going into either direction too far negatively impacted the gameplay and fun.

    Nightcrawler's gameplay looks like what Jumper: Griffin's Story could have been if it were made by developers that gave a shit. If you ever need an easy target for a review check out Jumper Griffin's Story. It's based on that god awful movie from 2008 and it's one of the shallowest games I've ever played. I beat it in like 3 hours on the 360 and I got most of the achievements in the process. I’m glad you liked it for the most part (mind you, I’m referring to the console version of this game, not the god-awful hand-held version). Very underrated. I have it for my Xbox 360 and I have beaten it a bunch of times and unlocked every single achievement and collected every single Cerebro file. Wolverine was actually my favorite character to play cause he was just so much fun to play, but Nightcrawler came at a very close second. Iceman was easily my least favorite one to play cause for a long time I found his controls too confusing and his mission objectives too frustratingly difficult, but I eventually mastered playing him and got the hang of him. The story was fairly good and I love how it expanded upon the X-Men Cinematic Universe.

    Frozone from The Incredibles offers a good explanation to how his powers work, and he's basically the same as Iceman: he creates ice using the water molecules in the air and in his body, which means that if he's dehydrated or there's too much heat, like in a flaming building, he can't use his powers. Iceman works in a similar way, or at least sometimes does I believe, but in the game it's extremely exaggerated for the sake of gameplay.

I also remember not knowing who Deadpool was at the time.

    It wasn't shallow though. For when it was released it had a lot of depth. More than most games nowadays have, certainly more than Ultimate Alliance, the next game in the series. It had a large roster of characters whom could be combined into teams for bonuses, each character had a long list of active and passive skills to allow for multiple builds that could be backed up by attributes and items, items which in the late game could make or break a build. The game wasn't a button masher either. You had a list of combos, there were quite a few different ones to choose from that had different effects at the end of the combos and you had a list of special moves you could swap between on the fly. Like I say, for it's time it was an insanely deep game with a laundry list of secrets and unlockables to add to the gameplay and to this day remains my second favourite game ever.

    @@Darklordjadow1 Alright, I knew she was a villain from the 90s cartoon(And I assume the comics, with the name Lady Deathstrike), but I was never sure she was supposed to be in the second movie, since she was mind controlled the entire time.

    Ive always liked X-men Mutant academy 2, it was developed by the same guys who did Dimension. So yeah same thing but with cartoon era costumes and Spidey and professor x as hidden characters.

    I keep trying to play Next Dimension and every time I get my ass handed to me because the controls are so stiff and I don't have the combos memorized; plus the game runs on Street Fighter rules where your block can't be broken except for the grab that barely does anything and leaves you wide open. The only way I beat Arcade mode back in the day was playing as Rogue because her Level 1 Super steals enemy health.

    @@Darklordjadow1 Thats pretty much my memory of Dimension too, a friend of mine had it. XMMA has alot of the same parts but it does flow alot better, pulling off attacks and chaining to combos are easy and cyclops itsn't a bitch and is one of the most dynamic fighters ,this could be rose tinted glasses though. But I guess it all comes down to what you prefer, too bad that the options are either capcom esq controls or dare i say it... Marvel rise of the inhumans!
