Went back and watched “One Man’s Worth pt 1&2” per DeMayo’s advice. I’m stressed out and even though the colors were palette swapped they absolutely showed an Avengers vs X-Men scenario back in the 90s.

Bastion wants to fan the flames of war to spread fear so that humans will be so scared they r all in for mutant extermination. Right now the mutants r pissed and wanted justice meanwhile the humans & governments know they have defend themselves from mutants. If the humans r okay with fighting mutants it allows legal and full authorization for programs like the sentinels which allows him to prime sentinel the entire earth population. He’s going to turn Magneto into a prime sentinel puppet so that he can use him spearhead the mutant call for violent revenge for Genosha

In the original show, Apocalypse created the Legacy Virus and he used the Friends of Humanity to spread it while blaming it on the mutants. And Apocalypse has tried to get humans and mutants to fight and wipe each other out so he can rebuild the world from the ashes. So I think Apocalypse is the secret villain and they're going to set up Age of Apocalypse for season 2.

De Mayo knocked out what makes X-men special Would love to see more X-titles in their own individual art styles E.g. Astonishing X-men, District X, Fallen Angels, Generation X, Hellions, X-Statix, etc...

Showing my age here lol but the video game X-Men Next Dimension has Bastion as the main villain and uses the weapon to strip away mutant powers. Each sentinel he created took away many of the main character powers like beast, rogue and cyclops.

I agree about the scripts and animation being more locked in. That makes it more like their source material of comics. The artists are drawing panels based on the script and dialogue that exists already. If the artist feels it’s clunky or hard to get across, an edit or agreement is reached prior to going forward. THAT is the biggest difference in it being more of a comic book feel. The artists can draw the animation as a panel set up then set it in motion. They can do so creatively due to a tight script operating in heavy time constraints. Just a thought

As a kid I was obsessed with Cable. He was always one of my favorite mutant characters! I’ve got a sketch book from back then when I loved to draw my favorite comic characters and he is in many of them. Damn, the nostalgia from this series is like a drug for me! I’d love to be a fly on the wall in my living room every Saturday morning as I watched this show. XMen 97 was made for me and I love it!

This story can go in many direction. We see what direction they go it very exciting. I hope we see "Hope Summers" as well which is Scott Summers and Jean Grey child.

It's interesting hearing the viewpoint from heavy spoilers. He kinda got the marvel history in reverse, so he understands the lore but in a different way.

Messiah Complex - Messiah War - Second Coming. Excellent run. So many great stories can from these books. Those stories involved Cable, Bastion, Scott/Emma, the beginning of X-Force/kill squad.

Fun odd theory: When the 'Godzilla'-Sentinel states "Omega Lvl Mutant", maybe it was not referring to Magneto for it had targeted him already. Perhaps it was referring to Leech, who at that point hadn't been detected before. Maybe in relation to Leech's 'power suppressing' abilities and how that might play a part.

The only issue with X-Men '97 being the universe at the end of the Marvels is that we know Carol Danvers exists in that universe. Unless both of them got powers in this universe?

Watching X-men 97 and the original series definitely brings me back to X-men writer Chris Claremont - the influence in tone, characterization and plot progression is seen throughout - although I wasn’t a hardcore fan growing up, his stories in the X-men laid the groundwork especially his run with artist John Byrne for the explosive popularity in the late 80’s. Although not needed it will help any fan contextualize the current animated series making it much more enjoyable - great coverage as usual.

I just hope that they bring back Gambit goddammit.

I forget where I heard it but it was a great point about comic adaptations. The movies usually have one focus and tone where the stories and cartoons will have different things going on sometimes they'll have something so random that it makes no sense. MCU has to make writing, creativity and appreciation for the genre to stick to the storyline and stop making changes for the hell of it

@@user-oi1iq6tt4j the mcu has never focused on "the actor". While RDJ is the most fan beloved actor, he doesn't dominate screen time or story lines. Rdj/Iron Man gets as much to do as the original 7 avengers. The original Xmen run, Anna Pacquin was the it girl at the time. The plot of the first movie revolved around her.. Until she fell out of favor in Hollywood and Hugh Jackman became the mega star. Wolverine was such a focus that it even spawned a cartoon.. Wolverine and The X-men. The second run pushed Jennifer Lawrence big time. Even Dark Phoenix was a Mystique 1a story plot to the Phoenix 1.

*What could change and bring a different vibe from the comics, is if you got Cyclops, Rogue, Charles and Magneto going full Punisher and attack the "ones" that killed his friends and love ones*

i'm gonna say it finally since no one else has. I liked the voices of the Sentinels from X-Men 92 more.

The marvel 40 years sets are great places to start for foundations. There was Amazing Spiderman, Fantastic Four, X-men and I think spectacular spiderman was released later ( oh and 40 years of Avengers). Took me just over a month of daily reading on the train to get through each one. It was also great to read the letters to the editor.

Yes, I thought the same thing after Sinister being the one to give cable the virus and then after seeing Gambit die. This seems to be the result of Apocalypse not having existed in this timeline. They will need to bring him back in order to defeat Bastion. Gambit will become death.

I have a possible theory. Storm will be the one to fight off the Prime Sentinel for the time being. As her power is directly linked to electromagnetic fields dealing with electricity/lighting. And the only one currently powerful enough to fend them off. Cable neutralized the Prime Sentinel with an EMP grenade.... We saw Storm and Magneto create an electromagnetic charged cage in ep 2. A conduit of electrical and magnetized power. The combination between Storm and Magneto abilities will help the X-Men defeat the Prime Sentinels and Bastion. I know Magento is captured right now... but I also think he will take this time to learn Bastion's weakness seeing he cannot do anything else. However in time his will power will be strong enough to fight Bastion hold on him... By doing so Storm and Magneto will be able to trap Bastion by combining their powers together again, like they did in ep 2. I think that is why we saw them do that in ep. 2. It was foreshadowing how Bastion & the Prime Sentinel's will be defeated (for the time being) It will be done by combining both Storm & Magneto's power along with Cable's knowledge of the future. That's my guess anyway...

I hope Apocalypse and his horsemen (Gambit as Death) come to "save the day" at the end of this season. Killing Sinister, stopping Bastion, subdue Magneto, and exerting dominance over Charles and his X-Men bringing a cliffhanger of a season finale.

Just goes to show how much better it is to release a show week by week. Binge watching is great but we've been talking about the X-Men for the past 7 weeks. Its awesome. If it dropped all at once, we'd talk about them for a week and move on.
