After twenty years I now realize that this conversation is the first time they talk about or addresses the fact how Mulder and Scully both admit to want to spend time with each other!!!!!!!!

I love how we'll never know what they bought for each other. That's part of what makes this scene so awesome. I've watched this every Christmas since 1998 when it premiered! God, I miss this show.

I thought I was the only one!! I'm Jewish but I still love it and we watch it after Thanksgiving..

I love this scene, but I love the soft x files piano motif underlying this scene even more. It really drives home that’s it’s the relationship between mulder and scully that makes this show as great as it is :)

The best couple and love story in the history of television.

This scene makes me a bit sad. There's this underlying loneliness in it. Mulder doesn't spend time with his family. He's kinda estranged from his mother, his father is dead, his sister missing. So who does Mulder have festivities with? I hope Scully invites him off screen to join her family. We know Margaret Scully loves him, though it'd be pretty awkward with Bill Scully hating him. If i were Scully i'd ditch my family for a few hours and deck Mulder's halls. By that i meant help him enjoy Christmas, though i realize the innuendo now LOL. It's nice though that they got each other presents, though Mulder is a lousy gift giver. He always gives Scully bizarre presents - a sports video in the hospital, apollo key chain etc. Why break the tradition now Mulder? :D

One of my favourite episodes. My heart always breaks for Mulder, when his loneliness and secretly wishing to be closer to Scully is shown. Their relationship is so full of unspoken love and yearning.

His face, the way he looks at her from 1.20 onwards... You can tell he is in love with her and then that smile when its confirmed to him by Scully's response of "maybe I did want to be out there with you" that she is in love with him too.... geez kills me every time. He knows how he feels but Scully doesn't know yet... she is fighting it. I think it hits her like a ton of bricks when we are blessed (sarcasm) with meeting Diana.

Best show of the sci-fi genre and one of the best shows in general

Still one of my favorite holiday episodes ever!! Love the way they are like two kids opening presents on Christmas morning.. ❤️

This is so romantic, I really loved when watching it in early spring 2017.

The chemistry of these two is beyond anything I have seen with partners fighting crime on TV or the movies ! They are the best. I donot believe this can ever be duplicated. Still watch all the reruns.

I don't know what Mulder got her, but when Scully shook Mulder's present it sounded like a VHS tape rattling in a case. Shaped like one too.

What a beautiful scene at Christmas time for Mulder & Scully

Scully is so cute.

The entire episode MUST be watched by ardent X files fans on x-mas every year! Mulder is extremely lonely as ghost tells him and Scully and Scully feels so sorry for Mulder she shows up at the end of the ep at his apartment, maybe best episode of all!

This part alone puts me in the Christmas spirit. :)

That was such a great episode. The actors' chemistry together is the stuff of legends.

Even though we didn’t get to actually see tue gifts I like to imagine that based off of the shapes, Mulder gave Scully an “I want to believe” poster and Scully gave him a book on something science-y 😊

I used to watch this show religiously as a kid in the 90’s I loved it and Mulder and Scully back then, now and always.

It's a great ending to this episode. I love the small touch that Mulder is watching the 1951 Scrooge/Christmas Carol as the scene opens.

Ohhhhh I will never get tired of this show and this scene in particular makes me smile every time.

Im a knew xfiles fan. Never once seen a full epsiode but plenty of clips and googling. I just dont get how in 25 years they were never a confirmed couple. They are just together somehow. So weird for a show, odd for me to say considering the show i know, but if also seems really organic too. Like the show expects us to know thay even though if is implied ghat mulder and scully are never really a vouple they are and we are just supposed to know it. I gotta watch the show. Maybe then it will makes sense. Doubt it though. Great vid!
