I admire Scully s inner strength and beauty. She is the only woman strong enough to love and live with Mulder. So much history and unspoken emotions. Too many walls between them......great edition.

BREAKING MY HEART! Gorgeous as always. 'Go home' 'To what?' It honestly took me a few viewings of IWTB to understand where Scully was coming from...and I think this captures her so well. She lost so much over the years and everyone has their breaking point. She didn't give up, but all the loss did change her over time. Excellent job!

ooo, I am so happy you saw in it where I was trying to go!- I wanted to explore what Scully was feeling in IWTB and why she felt so threatened and conflicted in that movie. On the surface, it did seem like she was suddenly expecting Mulder to be different than who he's always been but I don't think that was it at all and I wanted to try to show her perspective. I actually liked that movie a lot in terms of character development- I just wished they'd done more with the plot!

Holy shit. I'm stunned speechless. Not only the skill that requires to vid 9 seasons, you must know it through and through, but just this all. Wow. I bow down.

DANA SCULLY oh my goddddd where do I begin? DANA! SCULLY! This vid says everything I can't express but feel so deeply about this character. Adkfjgha I can't believe she thought she was going to "distinguish herself" as a doctor/FBI agent and have an illustrious career and check all the right boxes for a successful life and then....FOX MULDER. What the hell??!? Fate has intervened, Dana. You are now a stressed and derided alien hunter trying to protect Mulder from himself but also help him and oh no LOVE him and it's calling on literally all of your internal resources, every last drop. And it's not even your thing, your journey, your idea, but it might as well be at this point?? it becomes your journey somehow?? Meanwhile, you don't even have time to address all the buried personal demons that all this calls up, you just have to keep walking further into this devouring darkness. And it's so emotionally powerful because most of us can probably relate to the experience of having a plan to be so correct and stable that we protect ourselves from the pain and confusion of life, and then having that plan unravel irreversibly. Irreversibly, but she still makes one last reach for it in IWTB. Maybe it's not too late for the life she planned. but it is. it's super too late. and it always was maybe? because the life she planned, she planned as an escape and she can't escape that because she's the damn hero. Obviously I adore Fox Mulder but for me, Scully is the HERO of txf because she goes through such an incredible internal arc. I can't believe I babbled that much but it's all a credit to your work! Your vids are so electrifying. They always give me a sense of the whole picture that I didn't have before.

Its so good there is just not a good enough word to describe just how good it is. It really shows the vulnerable side of scully. Its just.. "wipes tear of pure joy from face".

Like all your stuff--I love it! The song is beautiful and haunting, and the scenes match. I actually downloaded this song because I'd never heard it before--I love your choice of music. The lyrics fit their relationship pretty well--the way they have to pretend not to love each other for so long, until they can't bear it any more, but the things they will do for that love drag them both down (especially Scully)

My little comment has disappeared? I wanted to write more anyway :) I adore your ability to tell a story within a story, tell a new story from the old ones... its like good fanfic in video form. You know your x-files, your Mulder, your Scully and your music. You get it ;) Scully was so conflicted in IWTB even her fans were wondering what was running through her head. This vid outlines our Scully perfectly. Dang she had every right to be a little messed up. Thanks Snakey it turned out great!

I thought about writing more in the description on my theme for this but I never know if I am saying too much and telling people what to think vs letting them get out of the vid what they see there...that was completely my goal- to show how IWTB Scully makes perfect rational sense in light of her personal journey on the X-Files which is why its so heartbreaking to many of us! ;') I can't thank you enough for your help on this- I would simply NOT have finished it without you!!

thanks Louisa =) I love this song too but its used A LOT as a vidding song - I had to use it anyway cause I saw the whole thing before I even made it ;) So much of the power of the X-Files definitely lies in the emotional story arc of the main characters. Hope to see another vid from you soon!

haha yeah i started to re-watch my x-files DVDs last week :D thanks god i´ve them all on DVD;) this two have such a great relationship way better than a lot of couples in the "new" Shows yet ;) there is no cheating, lying or betraying between them! and they just trust each other. it´s great to watch.

I love this video. It's so emotional and beautiful! Um, if you don't mind me asking, have you had any problems with the burning the dvds onto your computer? Because I've been having problems with converting the files, and with actually viewing the footage, and I'm also pretty sure that I don't have all the episodes on the disk burned :( Basically, the whole process is a disaster. I just want to make a video. Anyway, thanks for all the awesome videos and all that jazz.

I still don't get Scully in IWTB. I just try to ignore it as a Carter goofup b/c I don't think it makes any sense. He didn't think it out and MAKE it make sense as written (and oh boy is that ever more true of his writing in the revival). Her reactions in IWTB to the investigation are so extreme yet grounded in nothing one can really grasp onto as the cause. And even so, it's still a huge and ridiculous leap from not wanting to get involved to "I'm not coming home." I can ALMOST get aboard with her being reluctant to go back to working with pedophiles (for example) when she has this nice, ordinary life free of such a horror and (supposedly) 4 years to live it before colonization, but her statement about what the darkness does to them just confuses the matter, to my mind, because mostly they've always been fine confronting the 'darkness' with the odd exception. Nice try making that line refer to what they've suffered in the past because of their work but her statement seems to me to be more about psychological states brought on by exposure to "the darkness" (whatever that is, exactly) rather than injuries and losses. But like Mulder says, he's fine. And whatever's going on with her doesn't even make sense, heh, so that whole thing in IWTB just comes off as nonsensical BS. Also I feel that any way of understanding her in IWTB as just being unable to cope, which is the only option CC really gave us, does a disservice to the character. He really undermined Scully's characterization there. I don't recognize that Scully. Just like I don't recognize a Scully who'd have left Mulder for such ill-defined non-reasons as we were given in S10 & 11 or a Scully who would say that William wasn't their son but just an experiment, as if the latter precludes the first. Beautifully edited vid but all this is such a bummer! LOL

trekintandem I'm definately not here to defend Chris Carter's writing, because who could, but I disagree of your assessment of Scully and her motivation...this vid was an attempt to lay that out. I thought by IWTB she had reached a breaking point...she expresses many times in the series how much death freaks her out and how she has not allowed herself to be close to anyone because of that fear. And we see what a painfully self-contained and guarded person Scully is- a trait that mostly grows more pronounced as the series progresses. And all her experience on the Xfiles sadly reinforces her worst instincts...she allows herself the relationship with Mulder and he almost dies, she had a child (2 in fact) and loses them both. I think Scully is traumatized...by the time of IWTB, we see someone with post traumatic stress disorder who is desperate to hold onto and protect what little she still has. She sees Mulders participation in the Xfiles again as a threat to his safety- and of course, that's EXACTLY what happens as he is almost killed AGAIN. she knows the danger the Xfiles represents and wants to separate herself from that and I don't think that's hard to understand at all from a character standpoint...but there is conflict there as well because she know that it is also what gives Mulder purpose and she wants that for him. I've always felt that it was SCULLY that broke off their relationship by season 10, not Mulder which made no sense...she is the one that has suffered so much trauma. Now her actions at the end of MS4 I don't understand AT ALL...it was pure bad writing imo. It wasn't consistent with the character at all and how we've watched her for 17 yrs mourn for this lost son...she would've NEVER just written him off like that with, 'oh well, he wasn't meant to be, moving along...' the only way I can understand it is she is in shock and it's a stress response. GA sort of plays it that way....like when she fades out in the car as Skinner explains what he thinks William is...its like she is disassociating
