This was my team of choice growing up. So excited to pick this up this week.

I started reading comics around 2005, when the detective agency X-Factor series written by Peter David was being published. Such a good series, one of my favs to this day.

Your reading order uploads are supremely helpful. I would have been pretty lost for longer then I needed to be without them.

I can't wait to get my preorder of this. I haven't read these issues in near 20 years. And I hated Larry Stroman's art when I was younger, but now in my 40's I've come to really appreciate his style.

Stroman's art is very divisive. I actually loved it as a 9-10 year old and love it even more now! To the point where he's one of my favorites. I really like artists who have very distinct/unique styles.

Some more old school X goodness! Looking forward to this book. I only had a couple of X-Factor comics back in the day but I must have read them a million times.

It was great to see this Omar, you did a great job showing it off. I’m honestly super excited to read annual 8 again, that had a heartbreaking String guy story.

Thanks for spotlighting this. I've always wanted to get into this iteration of X-Factor. Your video made me even more excited. Had no idea this was coming out.

So so cool! PAD X-Factor is one of those runs that I could read over and over. The nostalgia really brings me back to the 90s, grammar school, etc.

Preordered this back in April. I am so excited to get my hands on this omnibus. I ordered the DM cover. Hoping there are more volumes to come. Btw, great video on mapping X-Factor yesterday.

Now they need to continue this Omnibus run with Volume 2 that begins X-Factor Investigations.

Do you know how many Omni’s they’d need to over Peter David’s X-Factor?

Peter David is one of the best writers. I will get this omni for sure.

What's funny is that this was the afterthought of Summer of X back in '91, coming out in between X-Force & X-Men but it was probably the strongest of the bunch. I loved the team of David and Stroman. I'm getting the Stroman cover!

Thanks for the overview! Definitely getting this, the DM cover. I'm curious how the standard variant spine looks like. I'd love it if you could always show that as well, like you do in other vids, or just mention it if they are identical.

Larry Stroman's art here is one of the most underrated art runs in Marvel comics. Head and shoulders above most popular artists of the time.

Stroman is a genius. He was treated horribly when he came back to X-Factor Investigations. Never understand how people don't "get" his art. Even his later work on the Times and Life of Lucas Bishop (around the same times as second run on X-Factor) was incredible.

Stroman is one of my favorites. His style during X-Factor and TRIBE was best. Not too into his later stuff as much, but the stuff he's posting nowadays on his Facebook page is fantastic.

Finally got my copy of this book. I cannot describe how happy I was when you announced the release of this collection. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of PAD's run on these wonderful group of characters!

I've had this pre-ordered for months, really looking forward to reading it! And don't worry too much Omar, I still see the "flower" myself!

Don’t like how they labeled it a Vol. 1, wanted his 2005 series to be titled “X-Factor Investigations.”

Pre-ordered this one, and absolutely cannot wait to finally have it in my hands. Went back-and-forth for awhile on which cover-variant to get, and although I picked the Larry Stroman MM-version (issue #71), that Quesada-cover is sure tempting me to switch over, now that I've seen it in its full glory and context. The Summer of X '91 lives on!!

I love this addition to my library. I’ve got almost all the X-Men/X-Men related titles from issue 1 thru to Onslaught. I’m am missing a few books here and there, but slowly being m filling those gaps. Can’t wait for volume 2 later this year. Now we just need those first 9 issues of X-Factor to be included in the Uncanny X-Men vol. 5 omnibus.

The first 68 issues of X Factor before Peter David is a slog. Even if you like the Simonsons and the founding team it's still A LOT to get through and sadly the book never really focuses on the interesting conflicts (the team members and their personal struggles) enough to make those 68 issues truly gripping. Peter David makes the book entertaining IMMEDIATELY, something Louise just couldn't really do. Cyclops and Warrens' character arcs are the best things about X-Factor before Peter David.

Pure 90's goodness!👍 The swimsuit illustrations are worth it alone.😉

Some glorious artwork in this book! I’m not sure which cover I would go for, most likely Larry Stroman’s since I always associate his art with this run. The mapping is a bit of a put-off though. If it wasn’t for all the Captain America books being released I’d definitely add this to the bookshelf. Interesting about the Imak paper stock this time round. Thanks Omar!

Man everything you mentioned in the review is exactly how i felt back when i read it and now. Therapy issue is iconic and still one of the greatest single issues of all time. Agree i wish the series ended better with PAD as i tried to keep going when he left (mainly because of JQ art) but could not get into the writing or new tone. Not sure i will get this since i already bought Epics, but certainly will if they do a "Investigations" stuff having gotten stuck with only 2 CCs that never got completed.

I have this preordered from Cheap Graphic Novels, along with 5 other Omnis. Still need to pre-order a few more as well. This is the greatest time to be an Omnibus Collector.

Can't wait to pick this up -- good on you, Marvel for finally going through with collecting this in omnibus format, but David Gabriel if you happen to read this: *please* listen to Omar next time and include his suggested mapping additions. Nine times out of ten they're bang on the money and in this instance the omitted eight X-Factor issues here would have significantly uncomplicated the reading order for readers.

@@oliverjason Yep, the X-Factor Investigations omni by Peter David (volume 2) is coming out this Summer. The older series, that was taken over by J.M. DeMatteis is being continued in the Epic format with a new volume this Spring. Good time to be an X-Factor fan. 😁

I noticed that Peter David also had over a 100 issue run on the 2005 x-factor series. You think they will do a omnibus on that or if this sells well they will make it? They could make 3-4 omnis off that.

Hope they collect those. His X-Factor Investigations run might be the best batch of x-books over the past 20 years. Completely character driven, long-term plotting with big payoffs, just outstanding.

I bought this for the sole reason that it was only 35 bucks on IST. I never read Xfactor as a kid and as an adult, the bad writing of Xforce kinda scared me away from non-core 90s titles. I am so glad I bought this omni, its fantastic. Compared to the other X titles from the same time period, this writing was ahead of its time. I'm not saying its better than Claremont's stuff, its just that the dialogue and concepts are more modern. If I just picked up an issue without knowing anything about it, I'd think I was reading something from this decade.

I just bought it for the same price a few moments ago from IST. Had to wait to for them to restock, looking forward to its arrival.

As an X-men fan, I am definitely picking this one up, this was the era that I really started reading and collecting. On a side note , the audio is focusing mainly on the right ear, not sure if it's how you position your mic or it's a balancing issue. Not a criticism, just a feedback.

I've never read any complete run of X-Factor, tbh. I'll probably skip this so I can save for more needed omnis, but I think it's wonderful that Peter David is getting so much love from Marvel.

Oh man, I just realized this will be the fourth version of X-Factor #87 in my collection -- the others being the OG release, the facsimile edition, and the Epic Collection. Was there ever an explanation what those worm-things are at the end of the issue?

Never read it, was going to skip it, but I'm interested in it now...

Going to have to pass on this both because of space and money reasons. Decided I will stick to the Chris Claremont stuff for Physical omnibus. That being said it looks great and would probably check it out on digital via a sale. How do y'all that have read this run feel about it? Is it up there with all the best X Books?

Unrelated, but can you ask David to make a Spider-Man/Mary Jane Wedding Gallery Edition? Assuming a (future) Spider-Man by DeFalco/Frenz Omnibus ends around #288/289, they can fit #290-292, Annual #21, and SSM Annual #7 in there. Along with KLH Deluxe, it’d leave nothing orphaned in oversized (assuming Mad Dog Ward ends up in a future SSM Omni).

9 issues or so double-dipped with Claremont/Lee vol 2 omni, X-Cutioner’s Song OHC, and Fatal Attractions OHC...can’t say i’m happy with this book, or how you could be if you own all of those already as an X-OHC completist. Still might pick it up but i’m sour over it

As much as I love this run, I won't be picking it up as I'm in the same situation as you: I already have a majority of these issues via Epic Collection and OHC. I'm not double, err... triple dipping anymore.

With all your X-Men, X-factor, and new mutants reading order can you do one for Deadpool with cabel and Deadpool reads tied in.

Ugh..after thinking about this for a long time…this should NOT have been one of the classic X-Factor books. The Peter David line should just have been the Investigations series. I’m very disappointed this book came out. I will stick with the Epics. I’m still sad to say this, but, it is…what it is. I hope Marvel can make up for this. To me, anyway. I hope people who want this will enjoy it on its own.

Guess my X-omnis are gonna expand with this one

This Peter David X-Factor government run was the first comic storyline to really hook me. He picked out a bunch of D-lister characters on purpose and did a phenomenal job with them. Quicksilver became likeable, Guido was consistently awesome (and funny), characters like Multiple Man and Wolfsbane were given more emotional depth, it was incredible to witness. I feel J. M. DeMatteis was able to take what he built keep some of that depth (who wrote through issue 104). After 104, I started losing interest, but it was a great run.

It's the tiny little things that add up to Scott Lobdell having the worst name of all the Marvel corporates in my book, no pun intended.

I missed most of this run growing up, but I can't wait to read this. Also have you heard any word on a reprint for the Dan Slott She-Hulk omnibus?

Well they should reprint both frankly. I am sure She Hulk will get reprinted before Silver Surfer anyway but they should do both ASAP.

Onlyl read a select few of issues from this X-Factor run, but I have to get this. Interseting that they have the X-Cutioner's Song issues in there, but god did I hate the artwork in the X-Factor issues of that story. I'm confused though, is it Volume 1 because of Petere David, or Volume 1 because they're going to continue the run in order, at least through Age of Apocalypse?

Oh, that's actually kind of disappointing. I preordered it not realizing it was writer specific as I thought it was going to be like the Excalibur and New Mutants Omnis.

I wish they released an X-factor omnibus... I mean, the original X-factor, my childhood X-factor... From issue 1 to 26 at least, up to the end of Fall of the mutants... How is it possible they haven't released that omnibus yet? Don't get me wrong. I love Peter David, I REALLY love HIS X-factor as much as I love HIS Hulk. I also love New Mutants and Excalibur but why is it that all of them got their own omnibus and not the most classical X-factor run? The first one?

I could only do Jim Lee back in the day. However, I've opened up and Joe's art is growing on me. I can't wait 2 get this. Do you think they'll ever do a Generation X omnibus? I couldn't stand Chris Bachalo's art and now I loveeeee it. He was best when he drew Uncanny Xmen. His Dr.Strange run was such a letdown. Bland colors. Dulls-ville. Shocker coming from him!!!

Considering I already have so much of this already collected in other oversized collections, I'm going to have to pass on this one, unfortunately. Maybe if they collected up to issue 100 or something, I'd consider this. I'd probably buy the All New All Different X-Factor epic collection for issues 71-75 and 77-83 since those are the only ones I don't have collected, but there's way too much double-dipping for me to justify paying $70 to $125 on this. Good overview, though.

I finished this book today. It was my first of the old X-books. It had some good issues, but wasn't really for me. I wish more issues were like the psychiatrist one. Peter David's more serious tone in some issues clicked with me. There were a bit too many outdated jokes and pop culture references that didn't do it for me. And all the crossover and event issues... so much bloat. I guess that's not Peter David's fault, though. There's also some issues not by Peter David, but by Scott Lobdell. These really shouldn't have been included.

This one is tough, I always found the original X-Factor to be a bit of a slog given I'm not big on the O5, but with the new lineup I might give this a go.

The mapping made this an easy pass. Cancelled my pre order a while back.
