I knew almost nothing about this title so I’m So Happy that you did a dedicated review to this 👏

I loved this run! And was chuffed to see more Salvador Larroca, especially after his work on Dark Angel and Death's Head II. Some of his best work in this title, I think.

I really have to say how much I enjoy Chris Claremont‘s story telling. I get a sense that I’m in such an adventure into the unknown that will be explored to the fullest. It is such an inspiring sensation. And few authors can replicate it. I got my Xtreme Xmen this week but I’m m actually still only reading Fall of the Mutants so I’ve got a ways to go. But I’m looking forward to it and am sure to ready every issue I can get my hands on up to Xtreme.

I'm excited to finally check this one out.

Stoked for this. I hope after X-Treme X-Men is all collected we get some omnis collecting the rest of Claremont's 2000s work; Uncanny X-Men, Excalibur, Exiles, GeneXt, X-Men Forever, etc. His Fantastic Four run would make a great omni too.

FINALLY! They just kept pushing this book back and back and now that it is out, I STILL HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK to get my Cover?!?! I'm with you OMAR I thought the art in this book looked unique and BEAUTIFUL!

Damn, i wasnt going to get this but now having listened to Omar I suddenly remembered how much I enjoyed this period of X-men. While I HATE with a passion Inkless art, Mr Laroqa's art overcomes this shortcoming so brilliantly that I barely notice it. Kudos Sir, you really are a credit to marvel

Big fan of this serie, old Claremont fan in me closing his eyes on some weak points, from the beginning to the end. Already got all this in soft TPB *and* in french X-Men magazine, but still seriously considering to get this book...

I remember thinking the art looked reeeeeeeeeally weird at the time. I may pick this one up if I'm ever in the proper mood. Coming right before New X-Men (sort of) it represents the last bit of X-Men I would allow in my collection.

Keeping an eye on the comments because I don’t know if the interest in this is because it’s good, or because (take your pick) it’s Claremont, you’re an omni completionist, you’re an X-Men fanboy good or bad, you have nostalgia or Omar is persuasive. I’ll admit I’ve made purchases based on most of these reasons at some point, but the best thing about any Omni is when it is just a damn good book. If these are well-written good X-Men stories, count me in. Are they?

Same. I've tried to collect Claremont things, but outside of these comments I've heard mixed reviews... Kinda wanna see how it all pans out after a while. If it's good though, I'll definitely give it a shot. But I also won't lie, it'd be a good excuse to give my wallet a break if it's not.

I didn't care for this run when it first came out. I have all the singles and have been planning to sell them for a while. Recently I have been thinking of giving it another try since my taste has changed some from back then.

I might get this. Assuming it's still in print after UXM vol 5 comes out.

Just got mine today...

I wish I could pick this one up. But I am waiting for my AVX omnibus coming in November 1st. Maybe I'll get it one day.

My personal preference is Ultimate X-Men. I won both Ultimate and X-Treme in singles, but have only re-read Ultimate. X-Treme is sitting in a box somewhere. I may give it a re-read to see if I still feel the same.

I've always LOVED the art in this book but couldn't really connect with the writing (sorry Claremont). Not in a rush to pick this up but maybe one day.

Time to get EXTREME! Not the best X-men but I enjoyed it far more than HOXPOX

No. That’s another series of X-treme X-men.

When Claremont was writing during the X-Men Revolution era, it sold, but it wasn’t well received by the critics and a lot of the readers were hate-reading it. Also, he was writing for the long game and it wasn’t that accessible to potential new readers. The movie had come out and upper management was unhappy with the state of the X-Men line, it wasn’t marketable. Bob Harras was fired and Joe Quesada replaced him. Quesada knew that Claremont was not without value, but he had plans to streamline the X-Men and get it to where it needed to be for a world where a live action X-Men movie was released and successful at the box office. Giving Claremont his own title was the best solution, he was free to do his own thing, but it would still in continuity with the Marvel universe. I think that his roster was the commercial and diverse. He also had several famous characters that fans of the movie and cartoons would know. Grant did not have any PoC and Joe Casey didn’t have any women in his first arc. And when Casey did add a female character, she was a working prostitute. So yeah, on the strengths of the fan favorite characters, Salvador Larroca’s art, and Claremont himself, X-Treme was a top ten seller in its first two years.

I'm not sure. When I read the first issue on initial release, I actually fell asleep. The art didn't interest me much either. I think I will skip this and the Ultimate X-Men omnibus this week. The art and writing for both are not up my alley.
