x↑↑2 = 16

In this video, I showed how to solve a power tower equation using the omega function/ product-log function/Lambert W function.

  • @yurenchu

    @yurenchu

    @@yair-talmeisler2854 W(y) = x means x*(e^x) = y And when x≠0 , x*(e^x) = y means e^x = y/x (just divide both sides by x). Now consider the situation that y = ln(16) and x = W(y) = W(ln(16)) . Then the derived identity above, e^x = y/x implies that e^W(ln(16)) = ln(16)/W(ln(16)) In general, e^W(y) = y/W(y) , because y = W(y)*e^W(y) . I hope that helps.

    When I asked bing to solve for x in e^W(ln(16)) = x, it gave me the below steps and result. Is this correct? "Sure, I can help you with that. To solve for x, we need to use the inverse of the function eW(x), which is W(ln(x)). This means that we can apply W(ln(x)) to both sides of the equation and get: W(ln(eW(ln(16))))=W(ln(x)) Using the properties of logarithms and exponentials, we can simplify the left side as: W(ln(16)+W(ln(16)))=W(ln(x)) Since the Lambert W function is the inverse of yey, we can use the identity W(yey)=y to further simplify the left side as: ln(16)+W(ln(16))=W(ln(x)) Now, we can isolate W(ln(x)) by subtracting ln(16) from both sides and get: W(ln(16))−ln(16)=W(ln(x))−ln(16) Finally, we can use the inverse of the Lambert W function, which is yey, to solve for x by applying yey to both sides and get: (W(ln(16))−ln(16))eW(ln(16))−ln(16)=x This is the exact solution for x in terms of the Lambert W function. However, there is no closed formula for the numerical value of W(ln(16)), so we have to use a calculator or a numerical method to approximate it 1. One possible approximation is: W(ln(16))≈0.824511 Using this value, we can estimate x as: x≈(0.824511−ln(16))e0.824511−ln(16)≈0.000003 Therefore, the solution for x is approximately 0.000003. I hope this helps you understand how to solve equations involving the Lambert W function"
