There really is nothing special about #WyzeSmartPlug, but it is more about the fact that you can have all these amazing things apart of one app. That is the key to what I see Wyze doing. They are creating smart home products and making them affordable.

Do these require a full time internet connection to work, for example, you set it on vac mode or set an on\off daily time but your internet goes down...will they still follow the schedule or does every command trigger from some remote server on the internet and fail if no internet connection?

That’s a great question, I believe it will still work, based off other brands but I’ll have to test and get back with you on that.

I'm trying to set up a alarm in my business that will set off a siren when my employees are not in the business. The only way I can figure out how to do this is use motion sensors that will turn on a plug if there is movement. Then set up a contact sensor on another another plug that is plugged into the first plug. So the alarm will activate with both plugs are turned on if the contact sensor is closed and there is motion. Is there any other way to do this?

Why not just a motion sensor and do it for a specific time when the business is closed? Like a normal alarm. So you close at 6 pm and it turns on from 6-7am and if motion is detected it turns the alarm on and notifies you. Not sure you would need the plugs or a contact sensor, unless you want those on the doors and windows.

I just got the plugs but I had to keep unplugging them to reset. I dunno if I'm the only one that has the problem of them disconnecting.

Cool plug, could you please give more info abut wyze plug? What I need to know is the power capability, can this plug used to plug a pool pump? I have a waterfall in my backyard, it could be useful if that waterfall to be controlled by Amazon Echo.

Oh great question! Yes, as long as its a US plug, and its 100-120 VAC, 60Hz, 15A is the input max. So as long as that pump, which I would think it was, is not 240VAC, it will work great! Now, its not waterproof, so if its near the pool, that could be an issue, but if getting wet isn't a problem, then yeah this would be perfect for you.

@@GrossTechnology Thanks so much, I found the solution, I added a relay after Wyze plug connected to pump all works perfect. The wyze plug has a very good long range WiFi connectivity. 😊

Unfortunately, I had already purchased five of the Wemo Mini Smart Plugs before Wyze had even announced their new smart plugs. But, being that Wyze is not HomeKit compatible, I would still take the Wemo plugs over the Wyze plugs. And, if they don’t announce their new wireless, weatherproof outdoor security cameras soon, I will end up purchasing the eufyCam set. C’mon Wyze! Stop making us wait!!

Well then that is definitely a Wemo house then. I'm not a big HomeKit person so that never has been a requirement for my stuff. I hear you on the outdoor camera...been promised since the v1 came out...still nothing. That said, the eufy cams are great as well...so you wouldn't be getting something worse.

Gross Technology - I actually prefer tech products that are both HomeKit and Alexa compatible, because HomeKit has let me down a number of times-It’s nice to have backup control.

All of my Cameras are Wyze, which I love. I was hoping you could suggest to me what low cost camera's would that you are aware of that would work on a computer. I know that there is a work around so you can rtsp but to much of a work around for me😊. My computer is older so I can't do the BlueStacks, top that off with not best internet 🤔 Any input I would appreciate 😊.

Ahh well you took all my options out lol. Unfortunately there aren't any cheap cameras that would do what you are looking for. You would more need a NVR system to view on a computer, and even they are picky on how to do it. But with any IP camera you can use something like IP Camera viewer software to view it. Sorry its not better news than that.
