Turns out this cam doesn't work with existing mechanical doorbells.

I am an electrical engineer. I have tested this exact doorbell on a bench. It is not made to work with a traditional mechanical chime no matter what way you wire it up. I think that this is a huge oversight by wyze. As far as the chime they send turning up the volume does nothing but distort it more it does not make it louder. At its loudest setting it is far from sufficient compared to a mechanical chime. I will not be installing this doorbell for this very reason which is discouraging because everything else about the doorbell is wonderful. Wyze can correct this extremely easily by adding a compacitance circuit or a small battery in the unit itself and making it so that it closes the circuit between the two wires when the button is pressed. In the chime unit itself a resistance just needs to be added in between the transformer and wires leading to the outside unit. Ring does a very good job with this. It is absolutely baffling that wyze did not. My only other complaint is this doorbell does get pretty hot. They went 90% and crapped out on the last 10% in the design. Shame.

I have this same bell, and your right, nope. I had an older ring, same issue. I have one more but, it just sits in the box. I don’t it works.

Does any of the other video doorbells work with an existing mechanical doorbell.

It comes with a wire to connect it to the wires in the wall Chime box

I used that wire. Mechanical chime still doesn’t work.
