Wybot L1 Review

Here is my review on the Wybot L1 corded robotic pool cleaner.
This cleaner is hands-down the best-valued corded "premium" robotic cleaner on the market right now!
The Wybot L1 gives me hope that other brands might someday lower their prices to compete. Definitely a premium cleaner at a not-so premium price tag!
Features include waterline cleaning, a weekly scheduled timer, an ultra-fine filter, and a smart online app. Yes, all of that!

    Hey David! Have you seen anything about the Wybot S2 or S2 pro? Do you know if they are the same product but just the pro has the docking station? I like the idea of the cordless cleaner but also don’t want to have to pull it out every day to charge. Will there be a review of these products any time soon?

    I've been in touch with Wybot about the S2 Pro. It's been pushed back multiple times and no known release date. And yes, from my understanding, the Pro version, the only difference is that charging station is included. It's a cool concept, but you have to really think about it. I've actually already used a cordless cleaner with dock type station before(check out my Lydsto P1 Max vid) and there are things to consider. One, you must drill the station into your wall. Physically drill into your pool. If you decide this isn't for you later on, you'll have to cover up the holes. And two, even though it's cordless for the cleaner itself, the docking station is not. It has a plug that will run along the pool to an outlet. This part is still a cord. So kinda defeats the purpose of being cordless because literally, there's a cord. Unless you plan on running it under some conduit and your concrete, etc but that's a ton of extra work. Oh also, yes. I have an S2 I ordered myself on the way to test out. Expect the video soon! 😃

    @@imdefinitelydavid amazing! Thanks for your insight. I see your point on the cord still for these 2 products. I guess the difference would be there is no cord within the pool to get tangled up. Definitely takes care of that issue that I’ve seen people have. Especially with a sun shelf umbrella installed and forgetting to remove it.

    Yup. The difference would be exactly that. A cord inside the pool that won't tangle on things. Also, on a side note, I just received my wybot S2 so expect that video up soon for review!

    Which one would you choose between the Dolphin Quantum and the Wybot L1? They are pretty similar in price right now. Or is there another one you would recommend in the corded $1000 or below range? Thanks for your help!!

    Between the two, I prefer the Quantum over the L1 because it's more plug and play. The L1 is on and off with the wifi connection sometimes and can get frustrating when it doesn't connect. Do you need an ultra-fine filter and weekly timer? I'm about to post a video on the Lydsto P1 and that corded cleaner is quite impressive for the price. But the downside is no ultra-fine filter or weekly timer.

    @@imdefinitelydavid Do not care about ultra fine filter, weekly timer or wifi. Just want something that is easy to use cleans well including waterline and doesn't get stuck. I tried the blue helix and it did a good job cleaning but got stuck a lot and totally died in the second week I had it so it got sent back. Thanks for all the info!!

    Try using it to clean dirt and leaves out of pool. It bypasses the fine filter and spreads it all over pool. Can you review how to tell it to go to waterline for pickup just using control supply? I've sent videos and pictures to Wybot and no one responds back either from app or email. Getting the app to work was a whole other issue. After several times of unplugging the unit, it finally works some what. The weekly scheduler never works but the pickup button works great. There's no community troubleshooting forum either. Hoping that your subscribers here are having better luck then me and share their experiences. Hopefully soon before 30 day return window.

    Yeah, the main issues with these wifi based cleaners tend to always be the connection. The app and wifi works 7/10 times maybe but the times it doesn't work are always most frustrating. I've been trying to figure out the lift control from the control head unit with no luck either. I always prefer cleaners with physical controls over wifi types. If wifi is included great, but all features should be included physically on the unit as well imo.

    This one is pretty heavy when you pull it at the edge. But after holding it there for a few seconds it releases all that water. In general, that's how all the cleaners work though.

    The L1 is the same as the M1-C except the L1 comes with an ultra-fine filter. That, and visually the cleaner is a different color.

    have you tested the dolphin active 60/ m600? I am considering that model or the Wybot L1. They both seem to have almost the same features but the Wybot L1 is about 1k less and has a 2yr warranty instead of 3yr. Which do you think is a better cleaner. I get a lot of sand and dirt in my pool.

  • @imdefinitelydavid

    @imdefinitelydavid

    Ай бұрын

    I haven't used the active 60 but I have been able to test the M600 in the past. It's an awesome cleaner. Does pretty much all you need for a pool cleaner. And it has a big ultra-fine debris basket for sand and dirt. These cleaners are very reliant on wifi for all the extra features. The L1 is a great budget premium cleaner but the wifi doesn't stay connected nearly as well as the M600. It'll do the job but expect to take a few tries to get there. If I had the money and had to choose, I'd go with the M600 though. It's more reliable I'd say.

    what is the best cordless and corded cleaner to go up steps and clean wet deck? i tried wybot c1 and it never did go up the steps to the wet deck. looking to spend under $900 if possible.

  • @imdefinitelydavid

    The C1 didn't climb your steps? It climbed my steps pretty well. It's dependent on the pool. So what works for me might not work for you. But for a cordless cleaner at that price point that climbs well, the Scuba S1 does a great job. For a corded, I'm very impressed with two cleaners ATM. The Wybot L1 and the Lydsto P1. Take a look at those. Great valued cleaners

    @@imdefinitelydavid Ran it again yesterday and it did finally go up 2 steps. It would not go onto the wet deck unfortunately. I appreciate your recommendation. I was also looking at the Dolphin Nautilus Plus. Would any of these go onto wet deck that is 6" to 8" deep? I should also mention it seems I will need the ultra fine filtration since the C1 has dirt blowing out the exhaust.

  • @imdefinitelydavid

    Oh ok I didn't know how shallow your deck was. Most cleaners won't clean an area with at least a foot or so of water. My top ledge is about a foot and it reaches but I have another step at the very corner that's only about 6" of water and no cleaner reaches that as of yet. This is because cleaners have to be fully submerged usually to move across the surface and they detect water. If they don't, they'll back up or stop at the edge. The CC Plus will always be one of my favorite cleaners but I'm also sure it will also not go over shallow water.

  • @imdefinitelydavid

    Well the Scuba S1 is the more simpler plug and play cleaner. Both cleaners do a good job cleaning. The Wybot has app and wifi control and can have issues connecting based off wifi. It's also corded so that's a big difference there. Personally, I prefer having a more stable cleaner and out of the two, the Scuba S1 is the choice I'd go with.

  • @imdefinitelydavid

    @imdefinitelydavid

    2 ай бұрын

    Cordless? If so, the one that does it ALL right now is the Beatbot Aquasense Pro. It has pretty much everything you need in a pool cleaner including a surface skimmer. But it is very expensive and very new. It also has little things about it I do not like, but not one single cleaner I've ever used is perfect. Remember, that's the answer to a very specific question. A cleaner that does it all lol. If you asked what the best value cordless cleaner is, it'd be a totally different answer. All based off what features you want.

  • @imdefinitelydavid

    @imdefinitelydavid

    Remember it's really based off what each pool owner wants... For me, for a cordless cleaner the FIRST thing I always look for is a weekly timer. I know this sounds like something that should be standard but you'd be surprised to know that it wasn't until recently that cordless cleaners started doing this. Second, it needs to climb walls and ledges based off my own pool. And third, it'd be great if it had a remote control of some sort. Physical or app control. Great for targeting missed areas. Now unfortunately there isn't one cleaner on the market right now with all those features! Not even that very expensive Aquasense Pro. But value wise, my favorite cordless cleaner right now with a weekly timer is the Scuba S1... way less in price. And if you wait another month or so the Pro version should be released with all those other features for about 1k! I'd personally wait for that one. If I had to wait and needed only one cleaner lol

    Looks like the s1 and pro will have the same features but the pro will have app feature plus ultra fine filtration, what is this filtration about?

  • @imdefinitelydavid

    @imdefinitelydavid

    2 ай бұрын

    The ultra-fine filter will filter out smaller debris. Like if you get more finer sand in the pool or if you get a lot of cloudy water in the pool a UFF does a better job at filtering it out as opposed to the normal Fine Filter on the normal S1. You don't necessarily need a UFF otherwise. It just feels like a cleaner clean if that makes sense. The S1 Pro will also get also get enhance waterline cleaning as well. Where it climbs up and scrubs the waterline but also move along the top of it so you get more coverage in a shorter time. Also, the Pro is expected to be able to use app support too. So also a plus.
