    I didn't realize the Hi Power and FAL designer was also the 240 designer. Actually, I didn't know the Hi Power guy and the FAL guy were the same until after I owned both.

    Actually the first double stack pistol is a Savage 1907 in .32 ACP , i saw their commercial and they called it "10 shot quick" which is a first double stack magazine pistol anyway.

    I carry a Savage models 1907 the capacity of 10 Rounds plus 1. 32 ACP & mine was made in 1910 it's been around before World War 2 started & don't let us forget the 380 and the 45 models.

    The germans after occuping Norway also made their own version of the 1911 which the Norwegian arms company Kongsberg made on a license from colt at the time, they took over the factories and made their own version of it. Those are really rare and not surprised they dont have them there but its the only 1911 with a german eagle on them I think.

    The Germans also "appropriated" Skoda weapons after Hitler carved up Czechoslovakia in 1938.

    I heard the Poles also had a version of the BAR rifle that had a pistol grip built on it, they may have been influenced by the Belgians who had something different but it was a Browning design all the same.

    +schizoidboy Yup, we did. The history behind it is in fact quite ridiculous. In 1927 the Polish military wanted to have a light and portable machine gun chambered for the 8mm Mauser cartridge. Then the Belgians came in and offered us "their" FN BAR's which were... original M1918 Brownings. Why? Because the Belgians were just buying U.S. made rifles at a lower price instead of buying the license! Thus the Belgians wanted to sell us a gun that they could neither produce of get profits from it. Eventually, in 1928 they finally bought the license (or at least I heard they did...), rechambered it into 8mm Mauser, added a pistol grip, bipod, extended front grip and spyhole sight and finally sold it to us (Poland) as the rkm 7,92 wz. 1928 (pol. hand machine gun (in) 7,92 (mm) mark 1928). 23.000 were made.

    Agreed, Ken is an Encyclopedia of guns. Hate to take him gun shopping, we'd never get out of there. I could listen to him a lecture all day (million-dollar idea, $10 online lecture series). Want to make his head explode, ask him for the most influential guns of all time, thinking Colt Revolver (revolver), Browning Highpower, or 1911 (pistol), Mauser (Bolt-action rifles), M1 Garand (semi-autos).

    I think it's safe to say that the high power mag influence every _metal_ handgun magazine that came after, (and you can definitely see it in things like the Beretta 92, the P226, the CZ 75, etc) but the Glock magazine is definitely an entirely different animal with an entirely different shape and construction

    What about the Mauser HSc, PPK? and then the occupied/otherwise Nazi accepted guns like the CZ27 and CZ38/39, Sacm, Browning 1922, Sauer 38, Astra 600, Star model B, Armand Garvage 7.65, and FEM m37

  • @nils4137
    @nils41379 жыл бұрын

    How come the Star Model B wasn't considered for this list? It is another 1911 copy, 8 shot, 9mm pistol built in Spain and sold to Germany during WW2 for reserve/police use.

    The radom came in three grades. G 1 excellent parts blueing etc. G 2 minor changes machining marks evident quality much less. G 3 parts changed for simplicity. Many machining marks. A grade 3 might be more difficult to find today. Used to have them all. Great vids. Look up col Whittington's book pistols of the nsdap. The Bible of German pistols of the period.

    The FN Browning 9mm high-power was based on an existing FN mag. The mag was not originally made for the Browning. Get your facts right.
