How do you decrease all the creases in the decals

Watch the last decal tutorial I did. I use a hairdryer to get it to sort of melt to the leg. With the cut, I use a box cutter and slowly press it into the articulation part.
How do you twist the leg joint but not break the decal or can you break it ???
