This is my initial review/impressions of WWE 2K24 after spending a week with the game. Playing all of the modes and experiencing a lot of what the game has to offer. I am Part of the WWE 2k NextMaker Program, but my opinions are my own. Let me know your thoughts on 2k24, the good and the bad. One note: I did not mention myrise I have a separate myrise series on the channel

Universe Mode with a lot of issues. All my Settings don’t work for Rivalry Matches. Ramp Camera, Pin Mini Game, etc…it just doesn’t work if the match is set as rivalry. It’s just default. Thats a big minus for me

It's better than last years for sure, It's worth it. So many features & match types added, MyRise tremendously improved, MyGM with more options etc.. My complains is that the showcase did not live up to the hype & lack of focus in universe mode. But overall it's a great game imo.

I like how the lights flicker during finishers... a very minor update elevates the viewing experience.. and the new camera system makes me wanna go back to no mercy

Yeah there was one match with 16 objectives on it. Can’t remember which match.

"Minor" stuff I particularly enjoy : - Irish whip reversals actually being irish whip reversals instead of regular reversal. - strike exchanges Those two things already make the gameplay more enjoyable and fun. But the best thing in my opinion is the new "tag team" debuff, limiting pin breakout. No more tag-team match being 20 minutes because illegal CPU doesn't want to stay down.

Also being able to irish whip while enemy is kneeling position and new rope animations being able to run anywhere in the ring instead of just straight

I'm thankful i grew up when Nintendo first came out and got to play the Very 1st WWF WRESTLEMANIA game .. The only complaints i have about games today is having to pay extra for Digital Shirts , shoes , Wrestler's etc etc... We had codes we use to put in to get these things.. Watch the evolution of Wrestling video games and be thankful 😎👍

they need more online options, if they could make wwe like how nba is that would be so sweet having a open world backstage being able to play with your friends and having different options like talking too superstars, upgrading gear etc it could be so good i feel like lately wwe been holding back insanely

Something that i found amazing, even though it was a small detail, is that you can tag to your partner while running and instead of the Wrestler just tagging the partner normally, he runs straight to the corner and tags, kinda like he wants to tag his partner in as fast as possible.

Definitely agree on the takes. Online play is my biggest gripe, and I still wish an online universe of GM could be done, but otherwise it's what'd you want from a WWE game for sure

Haven’t played a wwe game since 2k17 and lemme say,this game is so much fun. Even better with friends or family. My rise mode was very much fun and cool. Only downside for me is the showcase having way to many spots to do. But other than that I highly recommend this game if your into wwe

I still wonder why they left some things out. DX Theme, 92 Undertaker, 95 Undertaker, 98 Kane and so on. But I like this game

I know I don't have the game, but I kind of like how they keep the PLE events on Sundays. It's like the old days when Sundays always had PPV events. It's kind of a classic touch.

Haven’t played the game yet. Looking forward to checking it out. Without even playing it, what I wish they would release a new game every other year, and maybe roster/arena updates or even dlc every year in between. Maybe if they have a year and half to put the game together there will be enough good quality content to last us for 2 years

Love the gauntlet eliminator match. Reminds me of lucha underground/mlw versions of a battle royal which are fun

The biggest pop I had so far was a random fan yelling You Suck to Roman during his entrance. Ir felt like a real drunk fan. I'm hard on 2K because honestly unfortunately we need to be but I like giving them props too. The gameplay is smooth af, entrance lighting is better for some than videos pre launch indicated ( spot lights aren't randomly going into the ceiling atleast

I love the return of the classic camera angle, because some of these arenas deserve to be seen while playing. I also like the option to switch between the camera angles, and the weapons are really fun to use. My gripe is having to play MyRise in order to unlock the same arenas from the last 2 games.

Best part is the little things like being able to irish whip someone while they are kneeling position adds more dynamic to the game

They also mix up the belts in the universe mode..for example- if you set a wwe heavyweight championship match, it automatically becomes United States championship match..

Definitely worth it, I will say besides the sliders & additional change in UM, I think the game is fine. New match types, which we all asked for & should've expected since we only got one last year. Things like the calender for me is small only because at the end of the day it's still the weekend so I don't mind. I mostly play Universe but I rarely saw anyone beg for huge improvements this past year so I assume that's where the new matches come in. Showcase, 21 matches seems rough but people complain over the cutscenes & "skipping" it sonmaybe 40 matches really wasn't necessary

I am so tired of them putting universe mode on the back burner. They need to make universe mode the main focus next year! Or take an extra year off and also make universe mode the focus. It’s our season mode!

I’m not a fan of online, but having an online universe mode or a universe today like NBA Today. It would be a game killer. Have it run adjacent to realtime schedules and give players the option to play in many roles such as ref, wrestler, or even a spectator in the seats. Maybe it’s a reach but if they get innovative enough, they could truly restore this mode and add replay value for years.

Yeah for 25 they need to revamp Showcase and Universe mode for sure. Just give us Story Creator for Universe Mode! Everything else about the mode is great, all we need is a way to make stories and cutscenes and Universe mode will be perfect.

Feels like an updated iPhone. A few good upgrades, but not enough for me to get it. Waiting a few years seems to be a better route to take to actually see a big change. 2k25-26 would probably be a better choice from 2k23.

I tried listening to the soundtrack without the game ahead of time. Couldn’t get into it. But in the menus where you’re doing shit for a few minutes, it goes well with the overall aesthetic. There was one song I was like OH GOD this is too busy 😂 but a majority seems decent.

I like two of the songs, for me personally this is the worst sound track of any wrestling game

This guy totally looks like Eli Drake! 🤣 On a more serious note, I'm really looking forward to playing this...in like 4 to 6 months after (hopefully) they fix whatever issues there are, the mod community grows and a few DLC's drop. Been burned too many times to dev's to give them my money either before the game is released or within the first month or so. More power to those that still do and I'm not putting down anyone that does that, it your money and your choice. I just hope they can fix the refresh rate issue I (and others) experienced in 2k23 where anything above 60 has the "slow down/speed up" effect. Sucks having to change the refresh back and forth just for the one game, but hey, it's not the end of the world. Keep up the great content, my dude!

This has been the first wrestling game since Smack Down vs Raw 2006. Let me say this I am not disappointed so much nostalgia. I am not too sure if it there was a lot of changes from 2k23 to 2k24 but for me jumping from back then to now the game is so sick 🔥

I really hope they do an attitude era narrative mode. Can sanitize it how it is needed to be. But you could have a tag team focus or hardcore belt focus or greatest PPVs. Maybe even a Then vs Now type thing with TLC, money in the bank, steel cage, Hell in a cell, etc. So many great PPVs that they could relive to highlight the different match types while letting people relive/experience classic matches.

It's a nice step up from last year's game, better roster, better DLC lineup, the my faction unlocked content playable in other game modes it's one of the best changes made this year, and there's definitely more attention to detail in every aspect: weapons use, blood, new match types, but, I still think some modes need a change like "My rise", an interesting concept, every year badly executed. I think it worths the purchase.

Can we just all collectively appreciate that they put effort into the voice acting? It's stil farrrrr off from industry standard, but for a sports game? Especially a 2K game? And even more especially a 2K WWE game, it's not bad. granted it's a low bar. But they have exceeded the bar.

I don't mind the new gameplay style in these 2K games but I would love if they went old school. Make the gameplay fast, fun and arcadey at least like SVR - SVR 07. Could care less about WM mode, career mode and universe mode. Only mode I ever loved was GM mode and I wish they'd make it like the SVR games again. Anyways an obvious pass for me this year again

Well, getting all save data deleted between yesterday and today was really a bummer. Also matches with more than one opponent are still a mess because they never improved the aiming system. Just let me pre-select a new target while doing a move would help massively.

This was a FANTASTIC review Matt. Great job. I like the game. The new camera controls in Create An Arena seem a little… unnecessary. It’s a bit complicated at first, but gets easier as you go.. I guess. Showcase arenas being LOCKED with everything else unlocked feels KIND OF like a rip off. I wanted the arenas. That’s the point in purchasing it for most of us I think. They didn’t clarifying until the very last minute I feel. The game feels good. For some reason though.. it just feels like a new experience lol it looks the same, kind of plays the same.. but something just feels different.. I can’t explain it. I know it’s a new game but, they’ve DEFINITELY changed some mechanics in there that gives it a fresh feel. I just need CM PUNK & I’m good lol

Great thumbnail. And it's fine, it's a very "incremental" upgrade over last year. This is the last time they can get away with not touching universe mode, though. They're extremely aware of how much the community loves that mode- it's the true main attraction of the game for most players. They need to give it more depth if they want to keep players investing in this series.

What's the point and appeal to universe mode? It's boring as hell with zero objectives/stakes. It's literally just glorified exhibition mode with excel sheet. At least gm mode has a goal which makes it fun coz you have to strategize to win the mode

@@hotcoldman77 To each their own. I wanna be able to fantasy book. With GM Mode, I have limitations in terms of wrestling styles, stamina, contracts, etc. With Universe, I get to have a clean sheet to book whatever I want. Add story creator and Promos to it, and it is the perfect mode.

As a person who's dedicated to Universe Mode, this year right here was a spit in the face to me. I finally gave up high hopes for improvements in Universe Mode like 5 years ago and just accepted the barely little improvements that was made about every year but this was the first WWE game since the debut of the mode where I think I prefer just doing exhibition and online game play. Like really, Almost nothing improved or added? Nope I give up.

I am having a blast with 2K24! I got burned by 2K18 (HORRIBLE), so I skipped 2K19-22. I picked up the deluxe edition of 2K23 last October for $40 during a PSN sale, and was impressed. The 40 Years of WrestleMania hype convinced me to pre-order the 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition. Unfortunately, the showcase mode doesn't live up to the hype. Too many objectives! However, I'll grind through it for the sake of completion. Smackdown is live in my area tonight (Dallas). Instead of buying a ticket, I decided to invest in WWE 2K24. I feel the game is a much better value. I'll happily watch Smackdown on TV for free. 😁 Happy gaming to all!

To be fair, you would’ve spent much more on smack down tickets since the rock and Roman plus Cody and Seth were all there. I was planning on going but went to San Antonio’s raw instead. I went back and checked ticket prices out of curiosity and they were insane. Like $200 for nosebleeds insane.

@@raybohall2135 Just for grins, like you, I checked StubHub on the day of Smackdown and was shocked by the ticket prices. Last Friday's Smackdown was underwhelming. 4 meaningless matches and a bunch of interview spots. I would have felt ripped off, if I had bought tickets to that show.

Didn't even make it a month into Universe mode before I started getting bugs that ruined it. Simulating rivalry matches and the report showing different superstars (i.e after a rivalry match between 2 tag teams, the after match report showed Roman and LA Knight and talked about how their rivalry is getting more intense). Then I had a 10-woman gauntlet match for the vacant NXT Women's championship, which was won by Gigi Dolan, only for the title to still be vacant afterwards. It's just broken.

Universe mode should have a showcase type thing where you can see the characters throughout the locker room. Even if they’re just standing there and we can only scroll through and see them. Maybe just make the locker room our universe roster and let us walk around, see the belts and stuff. I hate that we can only view stuff like that during entrances.

I agree with just abour everything you said. They added a lot of little things, but honestly the little things matter. Game has been great so far. I do wish Universe mode had a little more tho. Fun still, but was hoping for more.

An annoying problem I’m having is custom entrances. Pyro continues to mess up and I’ve had a couple crashes. Other than that I’m enjoying the game

They have to patch the second door for ambulance match. It's so hard to close on the opponents. Love Special guest referee and casket. Haven't tried gauntlet. Overall I'm having fun and the new camera angle is so dope. But it needs to be fixed. Doesn't work in elimination chamber.

I enjoy playing it. The showcase is tough and those submissions are a killer thos year. One thing I did notice is if you create a wrestler the continuously says the name as they are going down the ramp. Also, if you chose RAW Samantha Irvin does not introduce your created wrestler.

Man, sometimes you can't trust the postal service, I was supposed to get this game yesterday, and now they're telling me I'll get it today. Better not delay it again. Anyways, great review

I keep hearing that you can do trading blows “one time” per match but I can trigger that multiple times per match and its so damn worth it for a momentum shift

its not talked about too much but the fact that each brand (Raw, NXT and Smackdown) each have their unique announcers plus different announcers for PLE's just adds so much to the game.

It's fun. The deep roster is great for sure including the different era's for some of the superstars like Rock and Hogan.

Will you be making a video doing settings for Universe Mode , Match Table and etc ? Especially for regular gameplay settings. The matches I set up are fuego but no one is selling moves and it’s annoying 😂

Hey there Assemble! I noticed while playing the game that when you create a superstar that the ring announcer keeps repeating your intro just thought I'd mention the bug I've found

Now that 2k has seemed to fixed the Community Creations I would give it a Oh Hell yeah!. One thing I think you forgot to mention Assemble is the creation suite. I think the Creation Suite is the best it ever has been it feels alot more deep and you can make alot more realstic looking create a wrestlers in past Wwe games.

Personas definitely made me play my faction now! Universe is plain but still feels brand new to me with new players! Just wish there was that extra spark. I think when we get CM Punk it’ll be even better

The ramp camera alone had me I love this game

Please 2k resize the older titles. I would also want a new stunner animation. Rock sell style. Showcase would be nice to go back to the 2k15 style also

I’m loving the game so far and determined to try every (offline) mode as mainly played Universe mode and exhibition in 2K23. I’ve even sampled MyFaction, still don’t particularly like it though. Looking forward to MyRise and GM mode.

I had no ideia that a quality of life improvement game would be that much better. Only miss finishers from top of the pod or cages etc, and most important for the next game universe needs some bigger changes

2 things...1.we need to be able to wear titles to the ring in ladder matches and have a cutscene of the ref hanging it in the air and 2. If you have an alt attire set for a superstar in a gauntlet match they still only wear their original attire to the ring during entrances!!!!

I feel like Universe mode has been the same since its creation if we can do promos and keep track of the win loss history in universe mode would give majority of players a breath of fresh air Gm mode will improve as years to come but it will never touch SVR unless they take Svr Gm mode copy and paste.

Honestly, Universe Mode from SvR 2011 is still the best version of it imo. You got a good amount of cutscenes, the AI booking was fun and the gameplay was fun too.

They need to bring back Road to Wrestlemania like from No Mercy.

I personally have few complaints that are actually relevant to me. My biggest gripe being them taking out arenas that were in the game previously. Like they took out 3 wrestlemania arenas. It shouldve been left in. And the reusing of models. But tbh its worth it for me

Cool so I’ll wait a bit. I just finished the legacy in 2k23 and Cenas showcase. When the first dlc or price drop I’ll check it out.

Okay I’m glad you mentioned that about CPU submission. No limb damage, a regular non-signature/finisher submissions fill up the bar about 80% immediately towards a tap out. Idk what happened there. Edit: am I the only one who buys the deluxe editions every year and disables the accelerator? On Xbox one it shows you the DLC and you can select what you want to install, I always leave the accelerator unchecked so I can do the grind myself.

You're not the only one as I've done that, too. I bought the game to play it and having everything unlocked takes away from that.

The press & hold option for mini games is also broken. It's inconsistent during matches, 1 min it works the next it doesn't. Submissions- if you apply a Submission that's when you get blown away by the AI no matter how the sliders are set. PS4 user UK

I like the game the only problem I’ve ever had with the 2k franchise when it came to wrestling was hair and when it came to customization of the entrance and customization of finishers. I really wish they would allow us to add our own entrance music

I am enjoying it. Loving the showcase mode this year. I have started Universe as well. Changed up a lot of title holders for my universe. Just overall been really fun for me.

Hi there, I bought the deluxe copy. I'm loving it so far. However I thought the wwe network 1 month subscription was included. Is the sub part of it?

I hoped for custom Entrances, where you can have some options to interact with fans. Unfortunately the entrances are kinda boring after watching them 2-3 times.

One thing I wish they would put back on games like this ways for us to put our own music for entrances From our own music list

I’ve played like 4/5 matches since getting it on early release and haven’t been able to fully get immersed in it due to having to work, but from the matches I’ve played, they’ve stepped it up!! My only issue as of now is that the A.I can be a little stupid sometimes when it comes to top rope moves or springboards 😂😭 I take advantage of it all the time, especially since I’m playing on legend! (edit: to be fair, they’ve always been kinda stupid in that aspect, but it seems like they’ve been programmed to do it a lot more frequently than previous years)

The ramp camera option needs fixed because in the options menu before you start a match you can turn ramp camera on and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't I haven't figured out what the deal is you can always go to options in the match itself and change it but it would be nice if it would just stick to ramp view

i will probably buy it next week or the week later, i read it had issues, with the community creations on xbox. First time i have not, got a wwe game upon release or pre ordered.

I don't remember which video it was on, but I thought I remembered talk of an atutosave feature to save in case your game crashes. Well I was about 45 minutes into creating a superstar and it crashed and did not save any of it. Did I miss something? Is there a setting somewhere?

I’m enjoying it, tho the only mode I’m interested in is MyFaction. I’d love to grind more on Faction Wars but because of the crappy “tickets” system, I haven’t been able to do a run for 2 days. At the very least, make the damn tickets be purchasable.

The camera cuts to the diving moves in the ring are f'n annoying. THAT was one little thing that did not need to be changed or tweaked. Keep the damn camera still. Goddamn 2K.

My problem with Gm mode is that every week there's a title match to boost ratings. Or the ai GM puts on shanky v otis for the world title. Becomes very dull

If you only play Universe like me, I wouldn't get it right now. Wait till it's on sale. And keep enjoying 2k23 until then. Enjoy the wrestlers that didn't make it to this edition. Like Brock Lesnar and Goldberg.

Just found another error. If you create an entrance, half of the lightningh does nothing. And further, i used on of the freak entrances with the red and yellow light show. There is no light in my entrance now. How can 2k always introduce new problems as if they were features. I‘m tired of this.

My issues with the game is community creation the crashing consistently. Also other pet peeve of mine is while doing the showcase I love they incorporate the actual match clips. But what I would’ve loved is if at the end of the match when commentators are talking I wish they could’ve used the actual audio from that match and night post match. Also I have yet to play a casket match, but I feel if your opponent has been beaten down enough you shouldn’t have a mini game while putting them into it, Over all I’m really liking the game.

Epic review as always! Do you have any suggestion on which version of the game is the best to buy? The alternate versions of people are cool and all but for me personally I don't think I'd use them so I'm not too fussed about alternate attires and all that.

I have a video comparing each edition. If you don’t need the mania 40 arena that’s coming later or mania alt models get the deluxe Has the dlc And you can always get the mania pack later and on sale

Glad to see the game is getting better but I’m going to hold out until they add promos and combine GM mode with universe mode

This is my first wrestling game in like 10 years so I think it’s awesome. I don’t really have a basis of comparison to previous years.

I wish we could import our myrise caw to the new game doing full detail creating new one takes so long haha

Definitely worth it to me, I haven’t bought a wwe game since 2k19.

Brock was my favorite character to use for MyFaction as it is a grind. I only picked it up for the inclusion of CM Punk. I wish they would work more on the presentation, like there's no reason the trons shouldn't fit or be optimized for all the arenas. To build on that I wish we had closer 1:1 setups for these arenas (i.e. tall entrance ramps, long entrance ramps, bending entrance ramps). As these games get more polished, these little omissions really bring down the quality of the game.

The problem with long entrance ramps is the issue of redoing the entrances. And in real life some ramps are actually smaller than others. But i just thought of a work around. Perhaps they can actually still make it that the entrances are the normal length as thry would be on a normal ramp but actually just cut to when they're already close to entering the ring. So like, Stone Cold is walking on the Wrestler 33 ramp and then it immediately cuts to him already close to the ring. Or cut to the crowd.

Hey guys I just had a question I was thinking about getting the game finally cause the deluxe edition is 25% off is it worth the extra $5-$10 for the ps5 one over ps4 are there any differences at all

The showcase mode that got me raging is the triple threat becky vs Charlotte vs Ronda because ronda always pin Charlotte for the victory whenever i roll out out of the ring when im not finished doing the submission objective. 😅

I think it’s worth it and I’m having fun. But an issue I’ve noticed is side plates aren’t changing on any of the belts. US, IC, WH, Undisputed or the women’s. This is an issue for me I want working side plates!

@AssembleShow Would you say the Universe Mode of WWE 2K24 is a good alternative to the Universe Mode of WWE 12, in terms of letting the AI do the booking and generate storylines while you just play as a superstar in Superstar Mode?

Now this was a review worth waiting for! Really enjoyed it and it was in-depth. I still might wait a while to get the game. In your opinion, should I just get the standard version instead of the 40 Years of WM version if the Showcase mode is fun but only okay?

Get the standard version if u like the game u can always get dlc later but if I was u I’ll buy the game asap is so freeking good made my inner child come back felt like I was playing those svr games

@@apppleboi2858 okay. Thanks for that. I appreciate the response. I think the Showcase mode is what attracted me to this game because I remember nearly all those earlier matches. So playing them would be awesome.
